Found in PoundLand. Don't have a need for one myself, but if I owned an i-device, would definitely buy one. Hope it helps someone.

Will these work with iPhone/iPads that have an up to date OS?

I know most cheap cables don't have the Apple ID chip and are rejected by the phone/tablet.

I found with my iPhone 5 the accessories in the pink packaging like these pictured didn't work. But the cables in plain white bags work. But I got rid of my iPhone 5 a couple of months ago so not sure if it is the same. If they do work its a good price.

I personally would not risk using one of these in my phone. The early un-official lightning connectors have been known to break off in the phone and, although I can't comment on these, the risk is too high for me

+1 to this sentiment. The lightning cable they used to sell in the white bags which was fine to charge the phone, was actually melting for lots of users and quite unsafe. Worth paying a few quid extra for the 'made for iphone' logos / safe accessories.

These charge fine but do give you the incompatible message sometimes. i wouldn't rely on them as a sync cable.

You can get a much more sturdy apple approved/certified cable from ebuyer for £7.50ish, having seen how durable the cheap ones from Pound Land and ebay really are and seen the results of using them I wouldn't trust anything that wasn't at least certified, you don't spend several hundred quid on a phone to put a lead in that could seriously damage it, it's just not worth the risk.

I bought a cheap 30 pin lead-can't remember if it was from PL or eBay but it blew up a plug socket when I was away in a Travelodge and evacuated the whole hotel lol
Anyways, since then I only use official ones or the ones which are about £4-£5 from Asda, they don't throw up the error message either

It does work with iPhone 6, without warning message...

Not to everyone's taste, but I recently bought a set of 3 of the braided coloured cables from everyone's favourite tat bazzar. They were about £5 for three and the quality is excellent - charge and sync my iPhone5s running ios8 quite happily (with no accessory warning message). Being coloured and braided, makes them easy to find when you're looking for them as well.

I previously bought the 30pin dock to lightning connector from Poundland (same packaging as above) which didn't work - this may or may not be a newer / more compatible batch.

don't use as bought before and knackered iPhone

Bought one last week. It doesn't work with my iPad Air (iOS 8). I assume that means they are incompatible, rather than that I got a faulty one.

Got one in my iPod Touch 5th gen right now (iOS 8 ), it is working fine. However its one from the white bags.

If given this cold as you haven't mentioned one important fact, Just be aware, this item does not charge Apple product. It will turn a apple product on that has not charge and keep it on but it will. It charge it!

Heat, I've had this exact one for a while and can't knock it.

no, no, no and no again.

These things are sh1te. Bought TWO knock-off lightning cable, ipad wouldn't charge, thought the ipad was broken - actually just the cable.

If you are going to buy an expensive Apple device, why mess around with sh1tty accessories?

Purchased the other day. Seems to work well with iPhone 5s running OS 8.1

99p? Has the post-Christmas sales started already in Poundland?

How do you use these, what are they for?

Charge your phone with a lightning cable for one

It basically lets you use any charger that uses micro-usb like the Samsung phone/tablet chargers

It won't last you more than few days

Spend a fortune on an Iphone then buy a £1 adapter - good luck with that.........

This is really bad quality. I've got a couple in the past, work fine for a few days and then broke.

Also avoid similar items, like phone car chargers and usb cables. The last time a cable caused my external battery to stop working (fortunately it was the overcharging protection that took place) and then I connected my iPhone to MacBook to get a message that USB cable was using much power and it has to shut down! A message I had never seen before. All in all avoid them and get rid of any you've got already. Too risky...

I bought the 30pin to lightning adapter from poundland a year ago and it's still working,
Best thing is hold onto the receipt for the week and return it if faulty

Ignore above. was meant to write in another window. New to this

I would never buy a charger or any mobile accessories from poundland or 99p store, they are shoddy quality and will mess up your phone! My mates fake lightning cable the tip stayed inside the phone whilst he took it off charge, just not worth ruining a £500 device just to save £14! If you do want to save money on the real deal then go to cex I bought the official Apple lightning to mini usb for £6 all boxed, brand new and unopened

I've never owned an Apple device EVER I'm an Android fanboy all the way but I still wouldn't risk my £500 Note 4 by using a £1 adapter.

There's an old saying and it's still relevant - 'If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.'

Us but where does apple make their chargers??

whatever people might think, genuine products are better than Poundland ones. Much as most stuff IS made in China it doesn't mean it's the same quality - the tolerances and quality control for Poundland products will be far less than Apple, Amazon Basics or Belkin.

I was using a Poundland cable with my iPad Mini for a long time which didn't break. Stupidly I wanted to keep my original cable nice and new in its packaging. The battery started to swell up inside the unit though, to the point where it pressed against the back of the display and created a rainbow effect.

Now I don't go near fake cables. I'm sure they're fine for emergencies but it cost me a day off and the train fare to the Apple Store to have my problem fixed and I'm pretty confident it was the charger. I'd also been using a fake charger with an iPhone 5 that developed a faulty battery within 6 months so it's not even a one-off for me.

...Also I'm going to vote this cold because

1) if anyone doesn't already know you can get knock off Apple chargers in pound shops then they've been living under a rock. These things have been posted a bazillion times

2) Poundland charges £1, not 99p. That's why it's called 'Poundland'.

Apple chargers are made in China same as the fakes are made in China. Just because it's made in one country don't mean it comes from the same factory which goes through the same rigorous testing.

Same as Nike track suits are made in Bangladesh same as a primary tracksuit made in Bangladesh... Why does one last 5 years and the other 5 days?
