Players can choose to compete in the Red Bull air race or bring relief materiel to the Congo, keeping track of their progress on each mission.

Flight Simulator X will provide pilots with the ability to fly the aircraft of their dreams, from the DeHavilland DHC-2 Beaver floatplane and Grumman G-21A Goose to the AirCreation 582SL Ultralight and Maule M7-260C Orion with wheels and skis. Players will be amazed at the details, such as shaded rivets, reflective paint, and glint from glass and chrome, as they view the world from 100 to 1 million feet.

More than 24,000 airports feature artificial intelligence-controlled jetways, fuel trucks and moving baggage carts, allowing players to explore their hometown or venture to a favourite far-off city.

I brought this in a Gold Deluxe pack from PC World (£34.96) which includes the Acceleration pack. Online only, free p+p. My kids have hardly stopped playing it. Great game.

didn't know this was still around. lol

The price of the acceleration pack seems to have gone up

It was £4.97 last month

Are there any offers on decent USB joysticks though......?

There was an article on BBC news website last week that microsoft has laid-off the flight sim development team so they expect FSX to be the last one for many years Prob explains why FSX acceleration has gone up in price.

If you're not sure if this will run on your PC then download the demo for a test run on the official game page.

Upside being there will be loads of new mods for it from 3rd party developers, also this will out pace your computer for at least 4-5yrs.

I second, third and fourth this.....

This simulator requires some very serious graphics engine power to run properly.

I used to like to fly the ultralight and swoop amongst the skyscrapers of Hong Kong

Anyone here know how the UK ground detail is..... can I fly along the face of the Dover cliffs or is it just a fuzzy line on the ground.

If you really like flight sims I would highly recomend one of the joystick / throttle combos from Saitek. I got the X35 / X36 when it first came out and it still works today only problem is that Saitek unfortunately stopped supporting this version after windows 98 so I can't map the buttons anymore.

Second hand X-45 combo on ebay will be about £25 then there are the new X-52 combos which look pretty cool.

Once you have tried one you won't look back

I've flown in and out of quite a few UK airports on it. London ain't bad i suppose - London eye, the Gherkin, Tower bridge etc. But i think the scenery still looks basic enough even with the detail put up to the highest setting. I'd be interested if anybody has bought the add-on Acceleration as i think it uses directx 10. Still a great game and looking forward to all the 3rd party software

For serious flyers, check out vatsim.org - you can fly online with other sim pilots or even be a virtual ATC! (some reading this may think we are sad - u could be right lol) Plenty of vids on youtube on how to get started.
