Yes

Although I haven't had one since the year 2000 edition of this so I'm interested if it's worth playing with mouse and keys for old times sake

At £4.99 can you go wrong? I love this game for the online ATC alone haha

Oh wow I didn't even consider online. Last time I remember this was dial up.

I can't believe they have a hornet now, that's amazing. Last time I flew a hornet was F18 interceptor on the Amiga.

2 games in one

.. are the missiles arm-able? Wonder if they still use sidewinders

A thrustmaster one like this will be fine for £50
amazon.co.uk/Thr…h=1

I played Flight Sim with this and got all the way to commercial pilot license in the game.
Tried this but wasn't very good just seemed to involve driving the planes round the airport and finding a place to park them; can't fault the realism though....
Is there any difference to the steam edition and the game you can buy on disc
Of you really want to get a flight sim your better off trying Prepar3d. Licence is a more expensive but fully refundable for 30 days of you're not into it. Its essentially improved code from FSX.
does it support VR?
Aw I thought this was the new version

Had a look at licensing, and it says "Prepar3D is not to be used, offered, sold or distributed through markets or channels for use as a personal/consumer entertainment product."

Not sure what to make of that.
Playable with this ?

Get something with a throttle stick to make this game enjoyable as there are so many other keys you need to get use to on the keyboard. I have a stick with 6 extra buttons mapped to flaps, wheels, change of view.

Also watch some of the YouTube videos on using the navigation and also ils landing.

Excellent fun game you could spend hours on it and not get bored.
Check out airforceproud95 he has some videos on YouTube showing the online play, there’s some funny clips on there but the overall community seems very mixed between those who want to play properly and stoners who bomb around at mach2 in Hot Air Balloons
I remember spending days at a time playing an earlier edition in the mid-2000s. A bit dissapointed that the graphics hasn't changed much and now look dated.

The new version coming later this year seems to have the much-needed facelift; no doubt this deal is to promote that.

Yeah it's designed for commercial use with flight training centres etc but many have it for personal use. The company even attends exhibitions organised by the flight simming community so they are aware the community use it for personal use. It's essentially the revamped version of fsx and it's still being improved by Lockheed Martin wheras development for fsx ceased a while ago. Microsoft is now working on the new Microsoft Flight simulator, to be released later this year.

In terms of VATSIM?
Is this a one off payment or a monthly subscription?
Thankyou!!

One off I’d assume, its regular price is 19.99 and I’d doubt anyone would pay that a month?

Also worth a look is dcs world which also supports vr. They have offers on quite often for the individual aircraft.

Now when is he back to school so I can have a go????
Take it this will run on windows 10 ok? Didnt think Microsoft flight sims ran on windows 10?

Yeah sounds awesome,

I've been drooling over fighter simulators since a kid with F19 Stealth Fighter etc on the A500.. came with 4 large detailed maps with enemy installations etc for plotting the best way to fly each mission!

New world of tech these days, back then todays games would look like alien technology from an alien super-race

Cheers for the tip!
It says £19.99!! Is the deal over?
