I've no prior experience of buying from them myself but I did a search on other deals here and a number have phones have been posted from Clove before and couldn't find any problems with them through looking at the comments.

Cheaper from the Spanish Microsoft Store. I think it has free delivery too.

While this has slightly better specs, I don't see the justification for spending nearly double on this when the 535 is £80. Most day to day users won't notice or need the difference.

I disagree with this to be honest. If you look at the reviews of the 535, the big criticism is of the screen, battery life and build quality.
e.g.
trustedreviews.com/mic…iew

The 640 rectifies these issues with a much bigger battery, much better screen and seeming (though the jury is still a bit out on this) better build quality. I think these are big things that most users would notice on a day to day basis.

im waiting for a this to drop slightly, im surprised as normally carphone warehouse have the lumias at good PAYG prices but dont seem to have it listed this time round. Been a big fan of the lumias for several years now and ive got the 735. the missus has the 530 but the lack of the front camera for her selfies is a biggy for her plus the screen is pretty poor compared to my 735. But i did manage to get her away from apple products which is alot cheaper for me and im going to make sure my daughters are on windows phones, just got to get the eldest off the 5C. clove are a good company, used them plenty of times and quick dispatch

It will be on CPW PAYG tariffs soon. They are already selling it on contract.

EDIT: Should be listed on PAYG tariffs from Friday 10th April. EE will also be offering the 640 from 10th.

Hopefully they will price it closer to £130

Unless your missus needs 4G, then in true Microsoft style this doesn't improve on the 735. Design wise the 640 is also backward step. Get another 735!

Clove are a good retailer but almost invariably at the top end of prices. So I would hope if you want a 640 that the prices will be found cheaper elsewhere fairly soon.

the 735 is mine she doesnt like the styling of the 735, although i think its lovely. she likes the 4s type rounded design which i think is why she likes the 630. As i say i would have stayed with that for her if it had a front camera.

This would be a cracking update|regrade sim free handset, but it is missing the 2 core elements that *should* have been left in for the european model..

2Gb ram & the slightly older 800chipset.

Instead the uk & europe, get a soggy 1GB ram and a 400chipset..

Downside of this, as clarified with MStech/MShq and a few tech bods in
the right places, is phone will be laggy compared to the 2GB Lumia 640/640xl/640ds/640xlds
and even more importantly "Hey Cortana" passive listening, is yet again
left out of the whole caboodle, due to the 400chipset not being sensorcore
enabled.

Yes, it is a cheap, big screen, will get Windows 10 for free handset, but windows 10
runs dog slow on a 1gb vm/phone emulator, so what will it be like on 1GB ram with
all the other "apps" using the ram as well!

Got one coming, purely for the "wifi calling" side of matters, so if can find a 640ds [dual sim]
2GB cheap enough, be good to test them against each other

i think somehow ive ordered the Dual sim 640 , should of guess what DS meant lol missus wont use the dual sim aspect

You are making a judgement on the performance of Windows (Phone) 10 on the basis of an emulator?! It isn't even near being finished....so I'm not sure how you can extrapolate any kind of meaningful performance info from that!
Also, The Lumia 435 with Snapdragon 200 & 512MB of RAM is confirmed to be getting the upgrade. So if Windows 10 is going to run on that, you can bet it will run v.well on something like the 640.

Also, as far as I can tell, only the 640XL is getting the upgraded innards in the Chinese market. I'm not sure it is realistic to expect Microsoft to put 2GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 800 processor in a sub £200 phone.

Basically, if you want a flagship, buy a flagship.

thats right for there, just kept going into google translate to work out the language, tbh if you have a windows account it lets you sign in and pulls from address and payment details so not too hard.

Erh no, we made the statement based on numerous conversations with MShq, MSr&d and the nokia
2nd level team that actually know what they are doing, when it comes to "not really lumia but nokia handsets"
the emulator part, was just that, it emulated a core mirror of the guts of the 640 and it was as laggy as hell
with 1gb of ram, the 2gb version of the real handset [as we have seen in the real world] is a flyer, which
is why, as usual, when you contact MStech [even those with 20 million years experience] they have no
idea about what is being sold by MS, why it was not the spec it would have been, if they did know what
they were selling and also how on earth anyone missed the point that windows 10 is laggy on 3gb of
ram, let alone 1gb, of which there will be 100-180mb left to run ALL the other stuff that multitasks in
a windows device.. unlike an apple which is single task and a pointless exercise for windows users..

Yes the lower end, budget memory, made in bulk old lumia's will be getting an "upgrade" to windows
10, but it will be the same "upgrade" that all the devices that will run windows 10 in 2016 will be getting
so thus, dog slow.

As for the "put a better chip in" yes, it is expected... why not? Got a 2gb 640ds coming and will not
be keeping it [after testing] as it will not have 2 of the core elements that will|would|might have made
windows a success on devices around the globe.. "hey cortana" and "a better chipset" the point being
that the 800 and the only other 2 SD chipsets that *could* run the feature [which has been around since
2012 as a windows mobile app!] are just as cheap to use, as they are old now.. a *sub* £200 new
phone today.. is worth £40 in parts from 3 years ago.. hence, why they *should* have thought
about doing it, when they had the chance at the design|r&d stage.. even MS head office marketing
team, had no idea about the uk|euro model having 1gb ram!! oO

Flagship phone, yes, have them, point of the answer, nothing to do with flagship spec or price..

The 640 spec in europe is a poor excuse to try and save money, yet still sell hardware from MS
just watch how the non-european model 640/640ds/640xl/640dsxl handsets, outsell everything
that MS has to offer from nokia at the moment!

Try it for yourself, fact not fiction.. ask the *experts* here!

Ok, so what you are essentially saying is that any device with less than 2GB of RAM will be running dog slow on Windows 10??
If that were the case, why is the 635 with 512MB of RAM already running quite ably on the Windows 10 TP?!

Also, I don't know anyone that considers 'Hey Cortana' to be a make or break feature. I think that is just your unusual notion of what makes a device good or bad...

It would be lunacy on Microsoft's part to cannibalise the sales of flagship devices by putting the exact same hardware in a phone that is apparently now selling for as low as £99...

Anyway, I simply don't give any credence to the idea that Windows 10 will not work well on anything less than SD800/2GB. More to the point, I don't have to wait long to prove that point as the Windows 10 TP is being expanded to many more devices on Friday (including such phones as the Lumia 920, which is running a 3 year old chipset).

As with all of Windows Phone's detractors, time will prove you wrong :). Microsoft simply can't afford to annoy the vast majority of their current smartphone owners. Windows 10 will work v.well on all devices...you just wait and see.

What emulator are you talking about? The Windows Phone emulator is an x86 virtual machine image that is run in Hyper-V. It doesn't have much in common with any Lumia phone, never mind the 640.

Not the old sdk framework and not in hyper-v The *image* of the emulated os on the 640 is tasked in visualstudio
to do things, that the nokia range with windows on, do not, hence why it "lags" on nearly all apps, designed for sub core access ram calls of 412mb or less.. try and run *any* app with sub load in sdk, it will be as laggy as hell, so imagine it on a piece of hardware with even less processing power.. eg: the 640..

I am getting Windows 10 Mob on a Lumia 435 to play with fairly soon. I think memory rather than the SoC is the key here. Given the fact that Windows 10 runs fairly well on an Atom CPU with 1GB of RAM, it wouldn't surprise me if MS gets W10M to perform equally well, especially if it goes on a diet.

2gb of ram on a windows phone is just overkill.

I'm not sure I've heard of any dual sim 4G variants currently being available in Europe. There's a possibility that the French Amazon website will be selling dual sim 4G variants...but I don't think that has been confirmed yet.

You'll be best asking 'essexgansta' in the next few days as he has ordered one of the Spanish 640 dual sims.

Yep, you can stack up to four of the codes --- though you will need to sign in using your own Windows account.
Just a tip....once you have added your 2 codes, buy another 2 Office 365 personal codes for around £20 each on Ebay, stack them, then convert them all to 365 Home 5 user licence...

hotukdeals.com/dea…803

That gives you unlimited cloud storage and Office for 5 users for 4 years for less than £50 all in!! (Saving around £350 !).
My current expiry date is March 2019 - and my 4 codes cost me £15 each from Ebay
