£99.99 plus £15 top up on O2. However all CPW pay as you go phones are unlocked.

I ordered one of these from Amazon.de last week (hasn't arrived yet) but this is the more expensive LTE model for about what I paid for the 3G version. I might buy this and return the other one. Only in white, orange or Matt black, this is a cracking deal for a sim free, 4G hd screen phone.

Also come with Office 365 for free for 12 months. This is worth £59 on its own.

Possibly another £5 off via Quidco for pay as you go purchase. NB I got nowhere with the linked HDUK £30 off code!

- KTF

Topcashback pay £5.25 for a PAYG phone.
- scrumpypaul

Even less - £79.99 if you are able to upgrade - see other deal copied over from this one......

Where does it say that its the Dual SIM model on the CPW site?

The UK version of the 640 LTE is single SIM only.

You are right, it is single sim - I have changed the heading to reflect this.

wish this had the 13mp Zeiss optics of the 640xl, still a steal at this price! almost like the windows equivalent of the Moto G! Have some heat!

That's a great price. SIM free for the same as PAYG too, I wonder if they are expecting a lot of box-breaking?

this or the moto g 4g? I'm stuck..

I am selling my one month old Moto G2 and have bought this. Moto G is really laggy under lollipop and I can't take any more of it as it is driving me wild. I never had it on kitkat as it updated straight away, so can't say for sure if it is a general problem. A friend has the same phone and never mentioned it until I bought my Moto, then said he wasn't very happy with his either! On the Moto, I ran out of battery from full yesterday too, (travelling on holiday) I was carrying my Lumia 1320 which was hammered sharing a 4G signal, doing GPS in the car and I got home it was still over half full. Not scientific at all, but I expect the battery life on the Lumia will put the Moto to shame.

It will almost certainly last longer as Windows Phone generally uses less juice, and the battery capacity is much higher on the Lumia 640.

FYI you should probably remove your Dual SIM Ballicom deal. The MPN stated on the Ballicom site is for the UK Single SIM version. It looks like the description on the site is incorrect.

On hardware specs. The Lumia 640 beats the 1st Gen Moto G 4G easily, but the 2nd Gen version is a very close match. The 640 edges it by having a larger battery and better quality camera sensor \ software, it's also cheaper than the 2nd Gen 4G version.

Otherwise it depends on your OS preference. People who love Android generally find it difficult to switch to Windows Phone because it's very different. Windows Phone is generally faster and smoother, especially compared to the current build of lollipop on the Moto G, which is slow and buggy in my experience. But Windows Phone is less customizable than Android.

Android also has access to more apps, but the 8GB internal memory limits the amount of apps that you can install on the Moto G. The Lumia 640 also has 8GB internal memory, but apps can be fully installed on to a Micro SD card.

FWIW I've just bought one in the Feltham branch of Carphone Warehouse, they have had the phones in stock since Wednesday, only the black models were available. It's the single SIM LTE model as expected.

Big, it is as large as a Galaxy S5. The screen is not bad, I don't think it is the true ClearBlack from the earlier phones like the 920, but it is a big step up from the likes of the 535. Performance is okay, the Snapdragon 400 is no speedracer, the 1GB RAM should help. Seems quite solid, but not heavy like some other Lumias.

There are quite a few nice features, some due to the hardware and some because it has 8.1 GDR2. The new sorted settings, Glance screen, NFC with the Barclays Pingit app installed, SensorCore, it may have reset protection, or maybe that is the US model only.

Can you get showbox or popcorn time on this?

Thanks for the info. No from me now then.

The Windows store in general it pretty quick to remove the more popular download apps, so I wouldn't expect them to arrive at all.

thanks for the info, my missu thinks the 735 is too big for her but ive bought this 640 for her now. im sure she will appreciation the additiona options this has over the 530.

This is £99.99 + £15 top up on PAYG = £114.99

Cool (or hot), but I am waiting for another CPW deal on the Nokia 930.....

Might as well save a fiver and buy it for £99 plus £15 top up on payg, as they are identical to 'sim free' handsets...

Yes, it was £119 on PAYG earlier this morning. It's better to buy it on PAYG with the O2 SIM and save £5 as the handset won't be locked to the network anyway.

If you buy directly from their website, then they 'might' open box at their warehouse to make sure that contents are correct before shipping

If you buy in store, then the box will be sealed.

At least that's been my experience with previous Lumia's and Galaxy's.

sherlock747

But are they unlocked?

Yes, it's the exact same stock as a SIM Free handset, just paired with a PAYG SIM.

The term box breaking means something else, its to do buy phones in quantity through individuals and send it abroad, which carphonewarehouse don't allow it and refuse the sale if you buying multiple phones.. Correct me if iam wrong any..

workshy68

This is £99.99 + £15 top up on PAYG = £114.99

You know I'm not even annoyed I missed that. As it's great value even at £120, and quite a lot cheaper than Amazon or Microsoft direct.

If you want a low to mid range Windows Phone the 640 is the one to get now.

I understood box breaking to mean buying subsidised pay as you go handsets, removing the pay as you go sims and then selling them as contract phones or sim free?
You're right about Carphone I think they will only allow two phone purchases within 6 months. Easy to just use a different card though which seems to get round this. If you do order two at once they will often call you after buying online to check you actually want two and it wasn't a mistake.

Can this phone get 'Maps.Me' or a similar one that doesn't need to be connected to the transmitter?

Best price so far? If so, then I think I'll bite...

Yes they're called Here Maps

Everyone, can you please put this price on Amazon on their 'found it cheaper' link so they price check as I have £80 in vouchers!!!

The orange one on Amazon is over £180!

Just picked a Black one up for my wife.

- Screen is good, slightly fuzzy but I'm using the 930
- Camera is quick and gives surprisingly good results
- Removable back allows for some 'give' on the corners if you pinch it
- UI is responsive although not buttery smooth
- Thin and light (without feeling cheap)
- 4G!
- SD Card

Highly recommended for the price.

See, I was put off by the price on the MS site and then they go and release it for 120? This is what happens when you can't wait 2 weeks and go for a cheap 735 instead...

The 1box app has a similar function: windowsphone.com/en-…201

I was attempting something similar, I pre-ordered the Blue model (dual-sim) from Amazon.de. They still have no stock so i'll just give up on it and go for this one.

FYI if anyone wants the blue model, apparently EE have exclusive rights for that colour in the UK so the only other place to get blue is from amazon.de/fr etc.

Thought the 630 was tacky, plasticky and a huge disappointment so I took it back after 2 days can't see this being any better

Any similar for iPad ?

Question is do I finally get rid of my lumia 920 with a cracked screen for this deal?!
