Microsoft Money Plus Sunset

In the current economic client I think that we could all do with some FREE money management software (even if just to track all those HotUKdeal purchases).

Microsoft appear to have followed Quicken and have discontinued the Microsoft Money platform. They have however released a free Sunset version for all existing customers.

The downloads are freely available at the bottom of the link and do not require any pre existing software in order to install.

I can't see that this has already been posted. Let's see if this gets hot or cold or is everyone struggling with IE9 tonight.....

Is this a full program or do you need existing program?

looks US versions only to me. Money stopped at 2005 in UK I think

Thanks for this - I might give it a go although I'm using Money 2001 so will have to gamble on it being compatible...

don't get it if you want to open files created in a previous non-US version

"File conversion from older versions of Money. The Sunset versions are able to open and convert Money Plus files and files from older versions of Money (e.g. Money 2006, Money 2007). The Sunset version cannot convert files created by regional (non-US) versions of Money"

Yes, people confirmed this when this deal was last posted

Installed this tonight and all appears to be in £ and UK.
Used to use Money about 8 years ago so will check if it will open up my old files and post back the results (likely tomorrow).

Thanks.

So is this good for UK users?

its a uk version but cannot load / convert older versions

Thanks! I've been wanting something like this for ages.

It is pretty silly to learn a program whose support has been discontinued, it would be better to learn a free and open source program like Grisbi, HomeBank, jGnash or GNUCash.

Thanks. Some good recommendations there.

why?

Its not rocket science to 'learn' this software and it should work for years to come. I still use money 2001 and it runs fine on vista / W7.

I looked at homebank & grisbi and it looks like they were written for windows 3.1 they are that ancient in design

Check money 2010 screenshots for a comparison
