I am not sure Vista Ultimate gives you that much more over Vita Home Premium.

Look at this comparison here:…asp

To be honest I would not pay out ANY money for Vista at the moment until they fix all the bugs and more drivers and software support it.

Maybe wait till later in the year.

agreed micro$oft an't having my money yet !!! voting cold

That comparison isnt that great IMO - it misses some obvious stuff such as the massive difference in network usability between home premium and the higher versions....

But yes - Vista is buggy as hell, been using it on dual boot for a while and try to avoid using it!!

It's cold because you don't want to pay for it???? Either it's a good price or it's not.

You get remote desktop (to login to your home PC from elsewhere). This is useful.

You also get a Ghost-style PC-image backup.

You also get Shadow Copy, which gives you a 'previous versions' history of files. THis is handy when I've changed data in a spreadsheet and want to get it back.

vista isn't that bad now I have it running on 2gb RAM - You just need to configure it to your tastes which takes a bit of time

For anyone who decides to buy dont forget your £10 discount with "Google Checkout"

I don't understand why people are having trouble with Vista. It has worked perfectly for me since day 1.

Depends what you use it with, and your hardware - you have been one of the lucky ones. In particular it is horrendous for business use.

because people like to think they are PC experts when most blatantly arent Good price too btw to keep this on topic

It is a good price for Ultimate. Hot for me.
Not that i'd buy it. XP for me.

I thought the idea of voting hot or cold was for whether it's a good deal or not, and not if you like or dislike the product, whatever it is? The posting is for anyone who does want Vista Ultimate at a good price. Voting cold because you don't like or want Vista is just daft. No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

Now down to £89.50 including googlecheckout and free del.

Now THAT is a good deal, whether you like vista or not - thanks for the update!

Possibly worth changing the title? or separate thread?

Me too been using for months, think people go looking for problems to be honest

Appears to back up to £115.14 inc VAT now.....???

It's a good price if you want the product. Please rate on the price as if you were interested in it, not if you would buy it or not.

Personally I'd be much more worried about the privacy issues and DRM than Vista driver problems etc. They will ease over time, but Vista will always report back to Microsoft on what you're up to, it will always do those 30 checks a second to make sure you're not doing something it doesn't like (the real reason the required specs are so high for Vista) and it will always have the ability to disable or un-install software and drivers it doesn't like without asking you. All of which, of course, you have to agree to in the licence agreement when you install it.

Stick with XP, buy a Mac, use Linux or whatever but if you value your privacy and rights to use your own computer as you like then don't buy Vista!!!

It is a good price however if you are feeling masochistic...
