Yup.. but here, you dont need proof you are a student....

I can't understand why pay for something you will be breaking the license terms of (if you aren't a student). Might as well just download it, no real difference, you can't slightly break the licence terms, you either are or aren't. Like people who buy OEM windows licenses for machines they haven't just build etc. so pointless.

Non students subsidise students for these sorts of deals. Boo.

Make them pay full price. And all the top up fees

same deal NHS workers but have to give NHS e-mail to get Office for £18

Hot Deal!

Good price but let's be honest how many amongst us haven't downloaded this already?

A lot of people will be able to get this free (if they are licensed for staff home use) from work or college/university. Ask your IT guys.

The guys that really know about IT don't usually stay in the IT departments... When all's fine people assume they do nothing, and when something's broken people assume they didn't do the job properly. You can't win! I used to be one, so I know the issue...
So lots of our IT guys are usually people that hardly know better than you and me or that are not fit for better jobs!

No offence meant to anybody, but when I see the IT guys here, too busy surfing Xtube to care for our requests, I can't help being frustrated...

Great find though, I'm going back to uni in September so I might get one of those to have a legal version at home! Voted hot!

I never realised Hotukdeals endorsed breaking the law?

If you are a student or parent of a student, decent deal.

Microsoft email you a genuine serial key...

So that covers all parents!

tals;2689245

So that covers all parents!

It means the parent can pay for it, but the person who it's for has to be a student.

What the hell guys? I gave you a tip that could save you fifty quid to god knows how many hundreds, and all I get is sarky remarks about your IT guys being naff. I don't care if they are or aren't, how is that my problem?

If you want to spend money on something that you can potentially get for free - legally - then that is your choice.

As mentioned above also, OpenOffice is a good free alternative.

Hot deal! Got my copy during the Microsoft's Ultimate Edition promotion for £39.99 :-D!

Why is Microsoft Office 2007 so expensive anyway? Thankfully being an IT guy i got a home use copy for £17.99 – or you could just download from mininova.org/

That's interesting, you used to be one and now your going back to uni. What are you going to study?

:-D

Well, how are they going to find out you are not a student or a parent of a student? Unlike downloading it which can easily be trackd, buying this can't. I can't see someone getting arrested for buying this and not being a parent of a student or a student.

As a Microsoft partner myself I can confirm that you should be at a school/college to purchase Microsoft Edutacion version softwares. When you register on the site in question you have to enter your school/college details, so basically you the customer are responsible for entering the correct information.

"cheap" being the operative word.
Both in price AND quality

This is cold - My university offers this for under £20!
I agree with others that if your not a student and you buy this then you are still breaking the law - just like someone who downloaded the same software for free!

Good deal, though I frown slightly about lies. Not for me to judge what others do though ... so whatever! Office 2007 is still mildly annoying to use, now that the menu system changed, but you get used to it. We still use Office 2k at work and I work for one of the largest firms in the world - says a lot about the software, eh? (more likely, too expensive to upgrade all the machines at present!)

As for Open Office, well, I consider it to be free for a damned good reason. Yes, it's compatible with MS Office etc, but God almighty it is dreadful to use if you are a hardened Office user. I would only recommend trying it out if you are patient, have lots of time to learn where everything has moved to, and don't mind being frustrated when things don't do what you expected!

At this point, I'll put my flame-retardant jacket on and prepare for the fanboys to 'put me straight'.

OpenOffice is a good alternative. The menu system is slightly different, but I usually find what I need. One drawback is it takes slightly longer to open files in OpenOffice than the MS version. I've not had any file format problems with it. I use it at home all the time and don't believe in piracy. Lotus have a new fresh interface for it called Symphony but I think the back end is the same. I'm not really a fanboy (I use MS stuff at work all the time) but I like the idea of Open Source and I like free.

A little bit silly giving live links for illegal downloads,It could get hotukdeals into a lot of trouble!

I use Open Office and think it's pretty good. If you want a legally free Office-style package (looks just the same to me), it's great. Obviously, MS Office has more features, but if you really just need a good word-processor Open Office is highly recommended.

Ive yet to see one person that actually likes Office 2007. Most people I know have gone back to 2003 because the interface in 2007 is so woeful.

I am trying to persevere with it because Excel has some nice touches but its a constant battle every day, I dont know what MS were playing at when they released this. Its not worth the £17 I paid for it never mind any more.

WARNING

Many student software packages now require you to submit your student ID before the package is activated.i.e. you don't need an ID to buy the prouct, but you do need an ID if you want the product activated. I had to do this for Matlab. More and more companies are doing it now.

So you might be buying something you can't even use.

Stupid, stupid post. Should be removed.

you also just get a CD in the post, anyone could have copied it. Doesn't sound legit to me. There are so many sites like this out there. I'd avoid like hell, unless you pay by credit card and can claim your money back if it turns out it is a copy. This post it very missleading.

True, school kids don't have ID. I'm thinking of university kids. I guess microsoft aren't so strict as more high end software companies. Still, buying from this site is wrong if you don't have kids in school or arent a student yourself.

King Antonius;2688779

Yup.. but here, you dont need proof you are a student....

You don't need proof, but you have to give them the school your child is at, so in theory they could check and then your license could be void.

I actually bought this offer last month - it arrived pretty quickly and installed with no problems on my computer. I am slowly getting used to the differences from Office 2000 that I used to use. I keep going to the menu that I used to use only find it has moved else where.

Open Office 3 is out in Sept. Many of people's complaints will be fixed with that update.

Either way, Open Office is just as good as MS Office for 95% of stuff. If you are a power user then that last 5% makes all the difference, but if like most students you are just writing essays and simple stuff like that Open Office is just as good.

Is that becasue we know more than you or is it becasue you don't understand?

What if I graduate after few days from University and I am no longer student.. should I remove office from my system (that would insane though!!!). Any comments anyone?

Mininova and all other torrent sites don't link to anything illegal so HUKD will be fine.

And to those who are saying this is pointless as you are still breaking the licence agreement.....this way you get a valid serial (I presume), thats got to be the benefit. I seem to remember my Uni sending me a message about getting this for under £20 as long as you had a .ac.uk email address.
