This site is definitely worth a look if you are looking to purchase Office or Windows 7. There are restrictions on eligibilty but if I am correct as long as you are a student or the parent of a student you are entitled to purchase the software ' for the use of the student'

I have already purchased both Microsoft Office and Windows 7 Upgrade.

Can't beat it IMHO.

Apparently the deal ends soon (was supposed to finish end of October but has been extended)

Getting very cold in here and no talking
People entitled to their opinions but personally don't see the point of voting it cold without any comments.
Why cold?
1. Cheaper elsewhere?
2. Deal is has eligibility constraints?
3. It is a scam?
4. Don't need Office?

In my opinion for this site to work people should comment why they vote cold so other people can make a judgement and not be put off.

Good price....

Seems a good deal to me..It doesn't even look as if it checks you are / have a student with you

It's very hot and a very good deal IMHO.
Has been posted several times before recently such as here -:
hotukdeals.com/dea…183

it works if you work in education too - my GF got me Win7 for £30 because she works at a uni.

It actually costs £40.90 due to an additional transaction charge.

Be aware that I got a transaction charge added after registering with the site that you can't see in your basket before proceeding:
Transaction Charge : £1.95
Total : £40.90

However it's still a fantastic deal and you can install it on two pc's. I wonder what would happen if I installed it on a third. i won't risk trying it though.

I've done that with a 2007 version and nothing happens. Don't worry about it. The way i look at it, at least i'm using for its purpose, it's for a student.

could someone please tell me is this site any good?

If you mean the Software for students site then yes they seem fine, they were very quick sending my order and answered 3 emails query's I sent to them very speedily (same day) which I find rare these days!

I have just checked my credit card payment for buying the Office and Windows 7. It came to £77.90 i.e. £38.95 each. I wasn't charged a transaction payment. Wonder why some are some aren't??

DinnyC, apologies if this has been posted before and if that is the reason it was originally voted cold then fair enough. At least you have commented on that where as others just voted cold without saying why,
At least this post is a gentle reminder of the deal before it finally expires

Exactly the same as my order, no transaction charge, I assumed that the transaction charge only applies under a smaller total order cost?

Brilliant - Thanks

this site is brilliant - bought the older office last year from them and it came with 3 users on disc almost the next day. A while later I thought I had misplaced the code to load it, emailed them and they got back to me the same day. They don't check the student bit but to be honest, everyone must know someone at school/college/uni. will use again with my new netbook to download Office 2010

It's the same old Micro$oft trick, repackaging and selling what is essentially the same software over and over again.

Office 2003 (on XP) fulfils all my needs and if it didn't I'd go for Open Office which is free, compatible and every bit as good.

It's a hot deal for suckers though.

That's a bit harsh. There's been a fair amount of improvement in the package in the new 2010 version. Perhaps if you're just using it as a basic word-processor/spreadsheet then you aren't going to notice any difference - but there is major improvements and -what now seems to me as necessary- new features.

MS knows that if they dont sell Office for £30 or less, people would just use pirated copies. The RRP is only for corperate buyers. Same with Windows.

I also use Office 2003 and I wont upgrade. That's because of the Ribbon introduced with ver 2007 on. Office 2003 allows me to use just one line of the menu at the top of the screen and I have the rest for work rather than fancy icons. File format difference are no problem with MS converter. Not sure what the other "improvements" are, but I dont need them.

I used this the other day as my beta expired and I needed it for work - I'd seen the Mac version posted on here. My girlfriend is doing her masters and we used her uni address, but we didn't have to. If you order through MS direct it's £49.99 and you have to supply an 'ac.uk' type email address.

The pack has more than I ever need - only use Outlook, Excel and Word really but Outlook is so expensive on it's own! Got one on my laptop and one on my desktop.

I paid the transaction charge too. Was there regardless of whether you download (which I did, needed it quickly as I figured the product key is the most important thing) or get the disk delivered.

I quite like 2010, it's pretty similar to 2007 though but I still like it more

there is a quick trick to get the beta working again if it expires. search you tube or google

The Windows 7 discs are all upgrade ones. No way for someone to go legit

Great price for those of us who need to work with MS Office!
If you don't need MS Office, you can go with one of the cheaper/free alternatives (such as Corel WordPerfect Office, Open Office, etc.).

People just vote stuff cold for the sake of it. I would guess it is usually the regular posters and users of HUKD that feel threatened when anyone actually posts a deal

I have bought Windows 7 and Office 2010 from this site, no issues whatsover, I prefer Office 2010 to 2007.

The Windows 7 was an upgrade but I was able to do a clean install from XP home ;-)

Has anyone downloaded this and got it to work yet?

At the bottom of the website they say they are a Microsoft Gold partner however, I cannot find they as registered with Microsoft. Go here to look yourself:

pinpoint.microsoft.com/en-…t=1

Their absence from the list worries me.

Sadly, OO doesn't do anything close to Publisher.
If it did it would be nice. It doesn't.

Got this two years ago (Office 2007), using it to write a third year assignment now!
