had a few probs haing the disc sent to me. had to download it in the end

Worth noting it can be installed on two PCs - makes it even cheaper if you are in that position.

Usage: Installation on up to 2 computers - both
should be for exclusive use of the licence holder

It is an original product?

Yeah genuine Microsoft product, just comes unboxed in an official Microsoft CD sleeve. Just a hell of a lot cheaper because it's an academic license!

I graduated recently but the ac.uk email address is still working, can i get this?

Also a note worth making, if you are running windows XP service pack 2, this wont work. You will have to download SP3 in order for it to work, and this wont be possible if you have a pirated copy of windows.

Some people really do talk cobblers........

Anyone running SP2 shouldn't be in charge of a computer. Always make sure your OS is fully up to date.

SP3 was actually released over 2 years ago now!

Cobblers? It would be a cobbler IF you could download this on a computer running XP SP2, which would go against what i have previously said. The fact remains as i have pointed out, thus i am not talking "cobblers" just because u dont think that ANYONE will still have XP sp2 running on their machines.

If you have a pirate copy of XP that had SP2 to begin with and you cannot download SP3 cos Microsoft wont let you, it doesnt mean that you dont know anything about computers or that u dont want to keep it up to date.

Thank you, repped.

But then again, these 'pirates' would most likely download a pirated copy of office in that case and not buy it anyhow. Im intrigued that pirated SP3 might be available to download, on its own, cos when i was looking for someone some time ago i couldnt find it (unless u format ur whole computer with a slipstreamed sp3 xp).

Is this genuine ? My son is day release at Uni on a course, can I get this him (and me) ?

Everything's possible. That's just silly saying Microsoft doesn't 'let you' download SP3... that's like saying Microsoft doesn't 'let you' pirate their software; people still do!

Just out of interest, do you have to prove your student credentials, or can anyone benefit from this deal??

Hot got my 7 ultimate from here

Yes its available to anyone who knows a student at school , college or uni more or less

Can quote me as a student if you want through pm

my son is in YR at school ( 5 years old) and that meant we qualified
order o/s and office so far.

Why bother with pirated

PMSL thats like saying that 2000 and 2003 were the same product, just because they look the same they are nothing alike.

For example:

Outlook 2010 now has full ribbon menu AND actually works and doesn't run like a dog.
Powerpoint 2010 has had a number of upgrades making it a much nicer product
Word well some new features but not much new agreed
Publisher lots of new stuff in there

In short it's very much worth upgrading to if you use the programs that have been updated if you only use Access or Word then probably not but then again if you only use them why buy the suite anyway

My point was, that just because something is 'pirated' doesn't mean it can't be updated - and the Windoze XP OS is a case in point........

So, just correcting you in that you don't know what you're talking about and therefore your 'information' is misleading! ;-)

Here at my college we downloaded the iso image from Microsoft and copy it onto a DVD for any student or staff member that has purchased a home licence for Office 2010 from here:

Same here, downloaded last night, all for the princely sum of £8.95. :-D
Does anyone know the correct procedure to back-up the file onto a DVD-R? I went to the download on my laptop C drive and copied it over to blank DVD. I planned to check the file was okay by opening it up. I checked the disc and it was showing the 650mb file but when I double clicked on the file expecting it to start the loading process it just hung?

It can be updated, secuirty updates etc, just not to SP3. It will give you an error message which will relate to the product key/registry key not matching or something. If theres a hacked sp3 then show me, but i think you'll find that just because you can 'bypass' the genuine windows advantage software and trick it into believeing ur os is genuine, u still wont be able to update to sp3.

Wow, ur lucky, my institute did not qualify

Good company, used them before and have been very impressed. Been using Office 2010 for a short while and find it way better than 2007. Outlook 2007 was awful to use, so slow to startup and download email but Outlook 2010 is very quick. The newer ribbons are quite neat too, I wouldn't go back to Office 2007 after using this now. There is enough extra in this version to justify upgrading, especially at these kind of prices.

What about the difference between word 2007 and 2010? Is it enough to justify the move?

What I would do would be to buy the Office 2007 Edition, and then get a free upgrade to 0ffice 2010:thumbsup:
