Students and educators are eligible for Office 365 Education for free, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and now Microsoft Teams, plus additional classroom tools.

All you need is a valid school email address.

It’s not a trial – so get started today.

This was posted exactly a year back - thanks to @thomasleep, but given that the new academic session commences shortly, felt it was worth posting so that some folks who aren't aware of it or haven't signed up can benefit from it.

I will pay a reasonable fee for a HUKD.ac.uk email account, and the world first “money saving strategies ” course.

Any glitch to get this free for non students? We all love a good glitch

The glitch is to start educating yourself

Grants? When was the last time you familiarised yourself with the education funding system? Or even, the truth? Whether teachers get a better wage than you is inconsequential.

That’s a massive generalisation in my humble view, not all students and teachers fall in that bracket, intact majority are actually still working hard to learn and improve their lot. Without the students coming up the ranks and the teachers helping them get there, the future of the society and country is doomed.

Teams is awesome

It's really not. Once you start getting involved in lots of channels it's a mess. And don't get me started on the chat sections.

However, as I mentioned last year, it's only free if your local authority signs up to it. It's also free for many universities as well.

Could always try making a free Open University account and see if they provide you a "student email".

They don't.

I'm an ex OU student. They don't just hand them out "willy nilly" to anyone who shows an interest, genuine, or not.

You only get one once you're enrolled and you've handed your cash over.
Changing school in September and I'm about to go from Office 365 to Google Suite, I hate it already.

Doesn't it also depend on whether the school/college/university have done whatever they need to do at their end ? I remember my gf signed up for the free office for students a while ago and she only had a read now option on documents

Maybe because they are forced to use it? In the same way someone who works at Kwik fit doesn't have to buy their own tools.

Very useful for school pupils saving parents money as they don't need to buy office.
Great heads-up once again @matwalaboy - thanks
What happens when your course finishes?

You said, "Students get grants to waste on alcohol and teachers get a better wage than me. Why should I have to pay for it?"

How do you know this? Out of 100,000 students who get grants, how do you know how many waste money on alcohol?
And how do you know students earn a better wage than you? What would be your wage amount?

hey use openoffice its free https://www.openoffice.org/

LibreOffice is also free and a lot better IMHO than openoffice.
Now, Udemy students can see what makes a difference between them and real students.

And what would your career be? How does it compare to that of a teacher? Have you ever taught at school, college or university?

Student grants don't cover a fraction of the cost of studying - how they spend it whilst at university is their decision. They'll still be paying the remaining amount back for years/decades.

On your comment alone I could make a fleeting generalisation about your voting habits, the media/papers you read, etc. But, unlike you, I won't start making unfair assumptions about another person.

for the low low subscription fee of £9,000 a year.
Some unis don't have it enabled so you have to contact the uni to see what's going on.

That’s the thing, it isn’t free. The institution needs to sign up and pay for the appropriate Microsoft Subscription Agreement before students and staff get it for ‘free’. I teach but don’t get it for ‘free’ yet because my institution hasn’t implemented.

Other software suppliers do provide free software for students because they recognise that people need to know how to use their software and if they do then employers are more likely to pay for it further down the line.

Technically no, but it's down to school discretion how they assign licenses to their staff.
And for clarification, it's teacher or learner in a Welsh school, not just a Welsh person in any school lol

No. No tuition fees in Scotland for Scottish and EU students in Scottish universities. But not for RUK students.

Yup. For most students nowadays, all they get is debt. Rather than a grant.
