It'll show as £59.99 on the website but when you view in the trolley it'll drop to £39.99.

I make no comment about the McAfee Total Protection that comes with it... (It's worthless in my opinion but some people may find it useful. I guess? Darn it, that is a comment isn't it. Sorry!)

Good price but McAfee is so bad that this would actually be a better deal without it lol.

Not the same tho.

I use 365, but mainly for the 6 terabytes of online backup you get with this.
You would be hard pushed to find that service for this price, and as a bonus you get office and all the mobile apps too.

Don't forget that you can stack subscription codes up a maximum of five on your Microsoft account. So if you like the price do buy a couple of them and then add them one after the other to extend the subscription for the next few years to come.

What happens if I add another Office 365 for home subscription to my account?

Multiple hard disks, multiple places. All in my control.

I agree with you that cloud backup a way to ensure an off-site backup, but it shouldn't be the preferred way for sensitive data. There are other hidden vulnerabilities at play, that people really don't understand.

Proper risk assessment of cloud services is simply impossible and so I choose to avoid it for sensitive information.
Is it ethicality right to buy this and sell the McAfee "protection" on eBay? I mean, would it be right, for money, to inflict McAfee on a human being who is naive enough to believe that they are buying valuable and premium protection?
Something nobody else seems to have mentioned - in the Mac version of MS Office there is no Access or Publisher. Never has been and as far as I know never will be.

I will say:

virsec.com/capital-one-experiences-third-largest-financial-hack-from-aws-insider/ - a vulnerability that often gets missed. The lay person can't mitigate against that at all, but is unaware of the vulnerability.

And before people say: "well I will just sue and claim compensation (daily mail-style)", have a read of this - theregister.co.uk/2019/09/09/equifax_breach_fine/

Life is way too short for that, so best defence is to avoid it.

So I guess I can let my personal license lapse. Will lose the free online storage I guess.

Well if it's exchange online plan you get no apps. Just the crappy online versions
I had a laptop and the hard drive failed. Once it has failed you cannot do anything and everything you have is lost. Now all my files are on OneDrive, and with cheap offers I have five years ahead. So I know it is safe. I have a backup external storage but I had not backed up for months...

BUT be careful because if you accidentally delete something you lose it off all your devices and while it keeps it for a while if you don't realise for a while you can lose it. Therefore, cloud storage is not entirely safe, it is still possible to lose stuff and when it syncs you lose it off all devices, beware....

The other thing to do is to sign up for auto-renewal and they give you a free month. Then cancel again. Leave it a few months and repeat. Over the years this has worked more than once. If you have a sub, see if you can sign up and get a free month, but then cancel again.
Why argue about getting a free alternative, We get it, there are free alternatives that might suit some people. Others may prefer this deal. Don't get the hate against paying for a product if it suits you. If not, go for the free option.

But please no need to bang on and on about it.
Use Google, it's free

Eventually it will get shut down. I'm currently having that nightmare. It was a 'lifetime' subscription and now m/soft have identified it and have given notice to shut down. it hasn't backed anything up for months.

Yes. This is a subscription. Office365 went the way of anti virus software in terms of revenue stream.
Great deal. Heat added! Thank you. I apologise if this sounds cheeky but if anyone doesn't want their McAfee subscription. Would they mind sharing with me? Thanks.

Ok and that's their decision to do that. But also their …Ok and that's their decision to do that. But also their responsibility.Just because the product is popular doesn't mean anything. It has be thought about and implemented correctly and appropriately. If I was in that position, I wouldn't burden myself with the aggrovation of being responsible if something happened in the cloud. I would manage such data locally and in my relative control. If I cared about using Microsoft Office, I would just buy an offline copy of O2019 for sensitive stuff. Also, because it's a charity, shouldn't they focus on saving every penny to go to the good work it provides to its recipients? Going with libre office frees up all of that used cash.Every little helps.

Dude...your arguments are ridiculous.

Office 365 standalone is significantly more than Office 365 Home. And the former cannot be used by 5 other users, and doesn't come with a combined 6TB or storage.

As for the litigation thing . I'd say the vast majority of major businesses use Exchange servers for their email. If they trust Microsoft, so do I.

And this is all at no cost to the charity; because why would I charge them £8 per year to cover my Office 365 user licence/OneDrive/Skype

By all means enjoy Libre Office (a most unenjoyable way to create office documents), and have fun with those hard drives you have everywhere. I'll continue to enjoy having cloud backups of all my data, accessible wherever I am in the world (and offline too if I so choose )

This deal is a bargain, whether you see it or not
Thanks op . Bought one today

Don't TCB have a highest cashback guarantee? Means they must match Quidco if so.
The title is wrong. It's for 6 users and an unlimited number of devices install. After installing, it can be activated on 5 devices at the same time.

Not fully compatible with Office formats. Good people people living in their parents basements, but not for professionals who actually need to work and share files with other people.

Depending what office formats you want. For documents the worldwide universal is you save as rtf or PDF which can be read by every computer.

Ok. We'll agree to disagree.

I'm just educating you with balanced information, no need to ridicule.

If you're thinking about things in a better way because of our discussion, then I'm happy and I've done my good deed for the day.

I hope it all turns out well for you and keep going with the charity work, I have much respect for that.

Morning all. Did anyone else’s Quidco track on this deal?

Sort of. Quidco says "We tracked your visit but you've yet to make a purchase", which rather disagrees with Argos texting confirmation of the order and Amex showing the payment as pending.

HOWEVER...when I went to collect my order after 4.00pm (as booked from Sainsbury's Waterloo), it had not arrived and an online chat with Argos this morning revealed they cannot guarantee when it will arrive. They said I could cancel and reorder for collection somewhere more convenient, but ignored the fact that to do so was impossible, as all stock seems to have evaporated.
