Download directly from microsoft

This has been up for six hours and we havnt had the usual moans about paying a subscription for office and the generic links to free office suites. Are people finally realising that this isn't just an office suite and the 5tb of cloud storage is a major factor?

Heat added, but I think I’ll wait until Christman to see if it goes lower

oDon't know about the legitimacy of your suggestion, but the install and license/account are two different things.

Is this a permanent version or just a 1 year subscription?

I wouldn't use McAfee if you paid me

I’ve actually heard good things about mcafee but the built in windows ones good enough for most viruses, and I prefer avg

MS office (excel) absolutely kicks a over all competitors unless you’re doing really geeky data stuff, and ppt is so much better than google slides

I'm waiting for the single user version to go back to £30 or a good deal on the full disc version but £90 ish bit much ATM from shop retailers.

Good price for this version though.

I bought Office 2016 on eBay for £5, why would I subscribe to the 365.
Companies buy a lot of Office key codes, more than they really need. So some people sell some of the keys on eBay. After all, Microsoft is not going to give them a refund so why not selling them.
This is how I got Sophos Antivirus for several years.
Keys are meant to be used and i'm not going to pay the full price for those codes.

Because they're different products, I subscribe to Office 365 but don't actually use the office programs, I use it for the included 1TB of online storage and the monthly Skype out minutes.

Do you pay £45 for 1TB of cloud storage ?!
I never had the need to use the cloud.

I've said this before and I will say it again.

Those codes are not re-sellable. They are either OEM licences (and hence tied to particular hardware) or Volume licences which cannot be used outside of the volume licence organisation.

That doesnt mean they wont WORK. But they arent valid licences. If you are going to do this, save your fiver and just download a crack/keygen - its literally equally as legal (or illegal as the case may be).

This isnt a moral point by the way - I couldnt care less if people pay MS for licencing or not. Just dont pretend that you have got the £100 piece of software for £5 and think its legal!!!

I see. You're constantly recording, so I guess buying a hdd would not be the best idea.

Well, it's not me who have to deal with the legal/Illegal merchant on eBay.
I'm just a customer buying a product on a selling website.
On my side it's totally legal.
They can give me a refund if they want, but they will not, so I'm keeping my software. Fair.

no, only recording movement and its an offsite backup in the event of the hard drives being stolen.

Good luck having that argument with Microsoft. All that will happen is that in some point in the future the software will stop working when they revoke the keys and push the update out through their activation servers. When you get your refund, let me know
Edited by: "MrShed" 20th Nov

MS makes its money from users via data mining anyway hence why windows 10 was free for so long I am surprised they still charge for software and OS. For those that didn't know you can actually use office for free by logging into outlook.com and using a web browser version of office.

Well, I had it for nearly a year now. Before that the Office 2006 (key given to me) was fine for the 6 years I needed it.
So after 7 years of using office, I'm pretty sure my software will keep working. More than 8 years with Sophos and keep going.
Microsoft cannot revoke the keys they have sold to a company.

nice-new8 m ago

Microsoft cannot revoke the keys they have sold to a company.

Oh yes they can.

Look what you do is your choice....but again I simply repeat:
1) Dont kid yourself that its legal.
2) Dont think that MS cant and wont do something about it. Its unlikely but it definitely happens.

I'm not going to argue MS licencing with you, I work with them every day in my day job and I know what they can and cant do, and what they do and dont do. You stating that "MS cannot revoke keys" doesnt change that...

bought 2x win7 professional software, some time ago off ebay, seller supplied a cd and a sticker of the original key i think. It came from decommissioned Dell pc

Worth it for the McAfee Total Protection on its own. Incredible deal.

No, if you buy something that is illegal then you are also breaking the law. You can't claim that if something is for sale then it's ok to buy it.......try telling the judge that if you buy heroine or a stolen car etc. You may claim that you didn't know that it was illegal but it is still illegal.

any resale value on the McAfee? I don't want to install it, but wondered how much it would be worth?

Well, that the thing, you don't know if it's legal or not, you can only presume it is. You don't know the seller, you don't where the key comes from, you don't know anything. So you cannot claim it to be illegal.
I bought something on eBay, I have no way to know if it's legit or not.
It was not written "illegal keys" for sell, and eBay was not bothering the seller. So I can only assume that it was legal.
Heroin is illegal in itself.
If someone sell a "stolen car" i'm not going to buy it.
Nobody sold me a "stolen key" but just a "key".

if there is reasonable assumption that it is illegal, you can lose in court

I haven't bought a "stolen good".
You can this, you may that, if this, if that, ...
The fact is "only the seller knows".
Ebay is a website to buy bargains and I bought one.
If someone steal a PS4 and sell it on eBay for a cheap price, the buyer have no way to know.

Thanks Kowalski / Glim, picked one up at lunchtime, will just stack it on top of my current subscription. Paid £43 on Amazon prime day back in July so unless it goes sub £40 on Friday there wont be much in it.
