Microsoft Office Mobile free on Android without Subscription.

That means you can both view and edit documents from your Android phone, and you won’t have to pay Microsoft £xx per month for that privilege. It’s a key change in the company’s strategy under new CEO Satya Nadella, one that sees Microsoft focusing more on becoming a services and software company aimed at ALL users rather than trying to sell Windows and Windows alone.

What’s New
•Office Mobile for Android phones is now free for home use.
•Bug fixes and stability improvements.

Description
Microsoft Office Mobile is the official Office companion optimized for your Android phone. You can access, view and edit your Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint documents from virtually anywhere. Documents look like the originals, thanks to support for charts, animations, SmartArt graphics and shapes. When you make quick edits or add comments to a document, the formatting and content remain intact.*

Requirements:

Requires a phone running Android OS 4.0 or later.

Update is Live.

Isnt the reasoning behind this to catch up with Google Docs which has been free for a while?

Argh, even though I'm going to get a new phone soon, I still can't get this because Google Play says I need a compatible device right now. When buying apps on Amazon it gives a warning that some apps won't work on my current device, but at least it bloody allows me to choose to get the thing.

Thank you...so far so good,... heat

why put free on. android and apple when you pay over £80 on window ?

Didn't work for me, says free for home use but only way to login is with a 365 sub, strange?

Its free for the very basic service to compete with Google Docs but it requires an MS Office license for more advanced options

got documents to go that will do me thanks

Thanks for this

Kingsoft is way way better. And it's free.

This app is incompatible with all of your devices.

Yep same for me...home goal Satya!

Why would you want to make an office suite incompatible with tablets but compatible with phones?
That is microsoft for you. You don't need this even if its free.

Thanks OP

Installing it now

You dont need anything by microsoft any more, they took a wrong turn somehow because everything they make seems to be wrong.

Just read the first 30 reviews on your supplied link, sounds fecking awesome!

I am getting the "incompatable with your device" message too ..(galaxy tab 3 8") .. so no use to me. Does anyone know if this is something that may be addressed in future updates ... or is this meant to be only for mobile phones?

Has anyone actually downloaded this?? Just been trying to use it and it is awful. You cannot even read documents that you have on your device! You need a microsoft account. Documents you saved are saved to the cloud.

One star app. Stick with QuickOffice

It's probably no different to OneDrive with office apps

You can't use it on tablet. You can only use it on your phone.

You can use it on any device if you extract the file to an .apk, I have done it

It also opens files on your device, just click on the file and select open with Office

Just put on Tab 3 8" and it works.

It only took a day to make a work around, so much for Microsoft's restrictions

Nice found, will try it for sure.

I shall download as they may 'develop' this and it is good to edge bets!

It is compatable with Galaxy S2, Nexus 5 and Sony ST21i but not my Galaxy Tab GT-P7510, if that helps?

If you use an .apk install, it will work on your Galaxy Tab.

maybe its not compatible with galaxy tab 3, but its compatible with my Chinese Star Ulefone U650.
Way to go microsoft!!

I will put a link to the .apk if the site allows it.

Doesn't work with the Xperia Z Ultra, but does with my original Galaxy Note...

Your best bet is probably to sign up for a free OneDrive account using the PC, you can then use the same details to log-in

Glad it worked. Just remember to change the setting in security to allow installation of non play store apps.

It's free on iPhone as well.

Press "Settings" in the top right and then hit "Reset Office Mobile" or just add a pin number to your device because its already linked to your Google Account.
