also working on the surface book
Oh dear, I want one but do I need one lol! At this price it's very tempting!!!!!
Order 128mb, as has 4gb ram too. Great deal with 20% code. Thanks
Is this better than the Samsung Galaxy S2 Tab for about the same price?
Hmmm, Intel atom.
I've got the 128gb 4gb ram, still a good price and it's the best tablet/laptop out there
Very is shifting lots of it's stock it looks like

It's not the 'best' there's no such thing, there's the best for an individual's requirements, but they may vary from one to another.

It's a nice, no, very nice, tablet, performs well considering it's an Atom, but these days, Atom processors are realistically not the hampered chips of the first generation.

This tablet is a compromise between looks, weight, battery life and CPU power, concentrating on the first 3.

It's a great tablet, but don't expect to run MS SQL Server + Photoshop + Visual Studio and loads of Chrome tabs without noticing a slow down.

Windows works great in limited memory and with lower power CPUs, but if you're a power user, a less attractive more practical solution might be elsewhere.

I've already got 3 atom CPU tablets and a 'proper' Core M tablet, and yet I'm still tempted.

Anyone actually run Visual Studio on one of these?

I suspect you could run Sysprep to take the machine back to an unused state, if you really wanted.

This is a good explanation of how to use it, and what it can do

Can op add in title that it's an 10.8" with atom processor.
Makes a lot of difference
I love my surface pro 3. Got a 256gb 8gb ram i5 version off eBay for £500, plenty more deals like that for second hand ones.
Would the surface pro 4 with type cover and 20% code for £688 be a good deal? Really considering to go for the pro version instead.
688 for a pro 4 sounds good to me.

Not to try and detract from the deal but I have a Surface Book i5 128gb model on sale for £1050 .. quite a bit higher but thought it might interest you as well. I'm open to offers as well.

I just went for the bumped up specs on the surface Pro and feel like I've got a bargain so I'd say so yeah.

Massive props to whoever initially found the code. Many bargains to be had
Also interested to hear how this compares to the S2. My iPad 3 is running so slow ATM so I'm in the market for a replacement.
I've got 2 x Windows10 devices running with 2gb ram. Anything more than a basic task will bog this down which is a shame because it has a pretty capable Atom Z8700. Definitely get the 4GB version.
Went for the 4GB Ram, 128GB drive option (without keyboard) final cost with P&P was £283 - Cracking Deal!

Got the 128gb Surface Pro 3 (i5) for £400 in post christmas sales.
If you're a serious student, creative or business user then I'd highly recommend the i5 Pro 4 with 20% off (the keyboard is a major factor - over 93% of owners end up buying one). It's a great machine and unlike the iPad Pro it's geared as a laptop replacement ultra-mobile.

What the Pro 4 (or Book) won't do is give you serious gaming performance. The trade off for the design is very much that you won't be getting dedicated graphics card levels of performance. However, for light gaming or entertainment it's pretty damn good.

As for comparing the Galaxy S2 (that I have) with the Surface 3 - it really depends what you want. The S2 runs Android so it's just a great high-end entertainment and browsing device (although the speakers are a bit naff) while the Surface 3 runs full Windows 10 which gives great flexibility for use, but at the cost of Android user-friendliness.
Keyboard is a must but the pro 4 keyboard works with the pro 3 and worth the extra monies
tempted to sell my 9 inch tablet and get the 4gb surface with keyboard.

I'm a general social, gaming, Web browsing and YouTube watching user so would this be totally OTT or something that would be a good upgrade etc?
The surface book on the same site is the deal for me. around £1040 delivered and includes the free dock and pen nibs set

This is full windows, Samsung s2 is Android ... they have different pros and cons.. decide what you need it for them pick
Very tempted to get the pro4, heat added.

But does anyone know how Very are like for returns? Never used them before and a bit apprehensive about buying electricals from them!
Cracking deal.

Went with the 128GB model for £283.

Going to give it another shot, had one before Chrismas and it was buggy, so sent it back to Very.

is it good for Web browsing, social media stuff and YouTube watching?

Oooh this is tempting. Can someone advise on whether the spec guarantees future proof for say the next 12 - 18 months?

Well it's good for that but also powerful enough to do a little more than that as well (especially the 4GB version which is the one I went for)

If you mean will it run the impending (major update) Windows Anniversary edition and any future Windows updates then the answer would be yes.

Obviously this is still a budget machine - compare with the Pro version here:

It's just gone up to 349!
the 128gb with keyboard is still at £409
Temping just to have a fanless silent surface.

Love my SP3 but wish its fan stayed off more.

Ordered the 128gb version with keyboard £327. Of to the states in a few months and was planning to buy one there with current state of the dollar. Don't think I would get it cheaper over there for once!

More than that mate, this is plenty powerful and then some.
can anybody recommend a surface stylus pen? I don't really wanna be paying £45 for a genuine Microsoft one
