Why the cold votes? can you get these cheaper elsewhere?

Is this the Surface 2 or Surface 1

That's a good price.

Mac OS>Windows
Based on that conclusion, it's a cold from me

not an iDevice, heat for that alone!

If windows 10 comes to these devices (which I imagine it will since windows 8 phones will be getting it) I imagine this will be a nice long lasting device!

So because you don't like the OS you're gong to vote cold? What next? You going to vote a deal cold because you don't like the companies logo?

Possibly one of the most stupid comments I've read on here. HUKD isn't about brand loyalty, it's about DEALS. this is actually a decent deal. The same daft mentality is why so many apple deals go cold quickly, fanboys/girls of MS hit that down button without considering whether in comparison to other retailers it's a deal or not.

Most normal human beings > os fanbois

Heat toying with getting one for my aspie son

Win rt - ugh!

People like Multieman make me ashamed of being a Mac user. Windows is just a different variant of Unix, as is Linux and OSX. All intel-based PCs and Android tablets use the same processors as Macs and iPads.

I honestly wouldn't want one of these if they where free.

The in-built spell checker on them is rather good, though!

I've never used Win RT, but this thread has some good reviews and information by people actually using it, in response to people who have never used it just poo-pooing it automatically!

I assume this doesn't come with the cover/keyboard?

Picked one of these up tonight. Included a keyboard. Can't go wrong for general surfing.

This is a great price, just remember that it's Windows 8 RT and that it can't run normal apps just those from the Windows App Store though some apps for Windows have been ported by XDA-Developers to run on the SurfaceRT forum.xda-developers.com/sho…446

Can you run android apps on this

Unless there's some kind of emulator (don't know of one), then you can't.
You should also bear in mind that although Microsoft haven't said that the Windows RT line is dead, they haven't actually released an updated version of the RT tablet like they have for their Surface Pro line.
The general consensus is that RT is dead.

I saw what you did there. Just a shame that their spelling was perfect even if they used the wrong word.

Haha. funny cause it's true

as many others would, if it was a surface pro, I would have run down to tesco!, but Win rt ahhh.

heat added for deal though, someone would get a little use I suppose!

Not bad!

Windows Rt isnt amazing..... but being a computer tablet (Which you can do everything a regular tablet to do (not sure if you can download computer softwares eg. itunes ect on RT) so this is a good deal.

That is why people are voting cold, RT is limited to the app store, cannot load any normal/classic Windows software on it!

I've had two windows surface devices for nearly 2 years now. Both running RT, and both more than ideal for everything I would use a PC/Tablet for.

I left my job 18 months ago that relied heavily on a laptop and an iPhone to become a student. I dreaded the thought of sitting in front of a sluggish machine trying to write essays etc and contemplated blowing my redundancy on a Mac. Instead I tried a surface RT for a fraction of the budget and it has taken everything I can throw at it. I have it on my desk with a monitor for a second screen and a wireless mouse and keyboard for essay writing and General office stuff and sling it in my brief case for lectures etc. it is slim and easy to carry, I went for the type keyboard too and it's perfect for my needs. I also have an iPad and to be fair I don't think it could replace my iPad because I probably rely on imessage and FaceTime too much (and games, shhhh). We do have skype obviously but it doesn't work quite as well on the iDevices, so for me ipad for fun and surface for working...
