Can the SSD be upgraded afterwards and where does it give you the option to put your student details in please? My daughter-in-law is at Uni.
Thanks
Plus, there's £100 cashback (statement credit) available until tomorrow for some Amex cards, for purchases at Microsoft store

Does anyone know if one is able to trade in an older surface or another old laptop. I managed to do that 2 years ago, via chat with sales.

Not unless you want to cut the screen out. Did it on mine without breaking it but I wouldn't buy one with a plan on doing it. Only opened mine cause the screen died and thought it might be the display connector.

Did you manage to fix the screen? Mine has just gone on my original surfacebook, only displays a black screen with 6 white vertical lines.
Works fine through the DisplayPort to a monitor so the laptop itself is still good

Exactly what mine did. No, I didn't, but it was just out of warranty so haggled with MS for a while. I didn't hear anything, so had a go myself.. then they got back to me saying that they'd cover it. Was a bit late by then as I'd gotten frustrated and binned it! So I'd have a chat to them depending on how long you've had it.

In short, no. It wasn't the display connector, therefore it must have been part of the display controller. A new display wasn't far off the cost of a used Book at the time so bought one and now have a spare base.
Aftersales and repairs are very difficult with Microsoft

In balance, I've had the exact opposite experience.
Thanks for bringing this deal to the surface

I had to sent 3 units to Germany
4 weeks turnaround
Does this hint at the surface book 3 releasing soon, or am I reading into it too much?
It won't let me add to cart...

There were patent drawings but that doesn’t mean anything.

However I wouldn’t be surprised if they release a Surface Book 3 in September-November. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was dual screen etc...

But even a new Surface Book 3 will overpriced....

You need to select customize the configuration then you can be able to add

Just to add... love my SB2, but yes MS are poor. I had an issue with my SP3 a while ago (battery wasn't working, which was a known issue with the device), but they would not repair (because they can't) and would not replace because I had cosmetic damage to the screen
Is it worth buying this? I originally wanted the macbook air, xps13 or huawei matebook pro x, but I'm mainly a casually web user wanting something ultrabook-esque with battery life and performance that will age well... is it worth waiting for 2020 models? Or is this price worth the difference (i only really use light web browsing, emails and netflix and possibly LoL)

Considered a Chromebook at a fraction of the price?

Yeah I was thinking of getting the google pixel go for a while, but I'm quite inexperienced with laptops tbh... I dont mind spending around 1-1.2k for something that will last me for years, would chromebooks last that long?

They would but I would personally not spend that much on a Chromebook.

Look into an Asus C302, it has a full aluminium chassis and it's about £250-£300 usually. And it has a lovely premium feel to it. I really loved the online eco system and it packed a punch for casual usage. Not to mention 10hr batt life.
