Still feels expensive for a computer with 4GB of RAM
Waiting for the i5 8GB 256SSD to go on offer........hope it does!
Surface Pros just aren't very good, we use them at work and they are underpowered, heavy and very unreliable (always breaking). You can get much better ultra portable laptops
Good price. Shame it’s under spec’d.

I bought this from Microsoft a few weeks for £599 and love it. It just oozes quality and makes the Linx 12x64 look like something that fell out of a Christmas cracker. This is an excellent deal. You can get the pen from CEX for £32.

This will probably get fairly hot, it's the cheapest I've ever seen it! I've been looking for a month now

Just to note i think that's the sp4 pen in cex, not the new 2017 one but still very good unless you are an artist which you probably wouldn't want this model anyway
Does it have keyboard like on picture
Yes, surface pro type cover is included according to description. This or the Samsung Book for £350?

Been using surface pro 3 for 2 1/2 years. Rock solid for me.

And just 128GB of storage.

And not so much a "laptop with a detachable tablet screen" as a tablet with a keyboard stuck on.

Cheap for the product, willfully overpriced for the spec.

I'd echo this in my personal experience. I bought one and it froze a couple of hours after first booting it up. The m3 is very laggy too.
Also, it's a poor experience as a tablet and a compromised experience as a laptop.
Having said that, this is a currently decent price for it if you want one.
I love mine, and it's always been plenty fast and powerful for my browsing and office needs. Hot!
Had 2 with no problems, though I've heard others have had issues with screen bleed and other issues. Maybe I've been lucky.

Personally I'd say go for it at this price, the difference day to day between this and my surface pro i5 just isn't that noticeable, I use both regularly. It's silent in use (no fan) and fast enough for most general and home use and that screen is simply the best I've seen in this price range, pin sharp and bright (my opinion, others may disagree). Heat added
Not i7

Not sure it's a bad experience as a tablet. I bought one for my daughter who was very attached to the iPad. Since she's had the surface iPad has remained in the drawer.
That said she uses an iPhone. Horses for courses I guess.
Seems a decent price for a Surface with the keyboard. I've tried three different Surface devices and could never get on with the 'top-heavy' interface. I also don't think they're either particularly good tablets or particularly good laptops, as Windows simply isn't designed for touch or have apps that particularly embrace touch as iOS and Android do, and you get much better keyboards on ultrabooks than even the latest Surface keyboard with their glass touchpads.

Having said all that, a lot of people love the Surface range and they're certainly not cheaply made, so for someone in the market for one this is a good price.
Use these at work although it’s probably an i5 with 8gb ram. Brilliant machine
I love mine. I had one originally and sold it to “upgrade” to an i7 Yoga 900 8GB. Regretted it almost immediately and moved back after a few months. I’m now using an i5 4GB machine but can’t really notice much difference in everyday use from my old m3 version. Quality machines. Happy to pay the premium.
I have the i5 4GB ram 128GB SP4.
Love it.
I can do so much more with a pc than Android or iOS.
People saying 4gb and m3 cpu at this price is expensive, then go and buy a Samsung or Apple tablet.. nonsensical. My surface pro 2 is still going strong using it every day, if you're after productivity as apposed to only watching media this is the best in the business.
This thing with this spec has been on sale for over a month for a reason: normally no one wants this

The i5 8GB was the model I was hoping to see a good offer on.

That said this will not be my main Windows machine and I am still weighing up sticking with an Android tablet for the sofa surfing.

While I want the Surface Pro i5 8GB to see just how much I can leverage the Surface for convenience away from my desktop, compared to something like the £499 Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 (Android), the M3 4GB Surface Pro looks good value and would still likely be more versatile.

Tempting...

This is being pitched as a Windows laptop / Windows laptop alternative NOT as a tablet. Relative to what the same money will buy you spec wise in a Windows Laptop it IS very expensive. I dont think anyone is saying its "expensive" but that its expensive for what you're getting in terms of spec.

For business productivity, you're going to run in to constraints with memory (with a few chrome TABs open and even a spreadsheet open my laptop breaks 4GB RAM usage) and with storage space - 128GB is fairly pitiful these days.

For light office use and maybe a little travel use then i'm sure it would be fine, but lets keep perspective of how little you're really getting for your money.

Strange you say that because I use my Surface Pro 4 for coding, Photoshop and Premiere no problems.
I hope somebody can help. I'm thinking of getting this.

I use my laptop for all sorts including connecting it to a AV receiver to watch movies in high audio quality e.g. DTS HD etc. Would this support these audio formats over a mini display port to HDMI? Also will it support 4K in the future?

Does it only have one USB port?!

As a tablet with a stick on keyboard, then yes its probably "the best in the business", but lets not get carried away with ourselves....

"coding" takes up little processor or screen resource, however are you really saying you do video editing on one of these......?
We procured about 30 of these for work. Half of them went wrong within months. I had four of them before giving up and reverting back to a standard laptop.
Have the original surface pro 1 and it's still runs incredibly well.

Microsoft are my preferred brand of laptop now, surface book is on order.

It's a tablet imo, the surface book would be pitched more as a laptop no matter how much Microsoft will try convince people.
Total nonsense that after a few tabs and spreadsheet the ram would be maxed considering my 8 year old precision workstation laptop with 4 gb ram first gen entry i7 maxes out ram after roughly 30-40+ chrome tabs, with word docs and Excel sheets open as well.

Anyone doing more than this would obviously not be looking at an entry-level surface like this..
Agreed there are better speced laptops out there at this price, however touch screen tablets, full windows, good build quality like this, I don't think there are.

Yeah. I5 256gb 8gb. I'm buying it second hand mate, got a very good deal.

You should check out facebook/gumtree for any sales.

You might find a surface book 2 at a reasonable price.
