What's wrong with you Microsoft. An otherwise lovely machine.

If you don't need a detachable keyboard try looking for a Dell Latitude 7370 as they also have the option of a high resolution touch screen.
Managed to pick one up from the Dell Outlet cheaply but the voucher code has expired now so cheaper to buy from one of the reputable eBay sellers of Dell refurbs.
I picked up the m7 3.1GHz, 13.3" QHD+ touch screen, carbon fibre lid, 16GB RAM, 512GB PCIe SSD, 4G WWAN, Windows 10 Pro, Back-lit keyboard, 1 year onsite warranty for £550.

Why has it dropped so much in price that’s a large drop! Good find op!

Because it was nearly this low, Amazon upped the price last week and then drop it for Black Friday "deals"

It's a shame they all have rubbish graphics cards. Still hoping for times when you can get a decent gaming laptop as light and small as this for the same price...

Yes, same here, why buy such an expensive device you can't upgrade? But anyway, voted Hot because it is a great deal regardless

These low-end Surface Pros are regularly discounted heavily. The models people actually want are £70 off on Microsoft.com atm.

@Soni84 Get the new surface with the Nvidia cards. Can do some light gaming

Thanks, what part of my body I need to sell to buy it?

Will this be better or worse than last year's i5?

There is another £50 off this @Danger_Mouse you might want to edit this, Bargain

Anyway we can push this back to the public eye for others to see it?

Price drop because stock is stagnating

surface book 2? We won't be seeing that performance in a tablet form factor for a good 5-10 years probably.

That's an incredible bargain.

How are you finding it? Looking at a replacement for my surface 3 but would like something with specs similar to what you have - the surface equivalent is way over £1k and my budget is maximum of £800.

Nothing on the Surfacebook.

4GB won't make a good experience.

typing this on a 4gb version , have it a few months little or no issues so far, best laptop I have ever owned ( although I got this from work) and I have 4 ,from a 19" gaming machine to 15" and 14", if i had to choose one it would be the surface, mine is the i5 version.

Have gone through a few of these with work and not completely impressed. Unless you spend on the i7 models these machines aren't worth it for anything more than light office work.

Have had the 4GB i5 model and Photoshop/Illustrator is useless and painful to use.

Can't fault the touchscreen and pen, great for sketching!!

Owning an i5 4gb pro 4, they're actually more powerful than most people give them credit for.. I also have an 8gb i5 MacBook Pro and they both run Adobes creative cloud equally well, the surface also runs solidworks quite nicely and the touch experience is unparalleled. If you take a lot of notes/do artistic/creative work the surface by far beats the MacBook!

4gb of RAM is plenty if you are using any browser other than chrome.

I imagine the i7 would be just as bad if not worse in some ways. Thermal throttling....

So not enough for the majority of people then.
Chrome has 60% of the web browser market.

Photoshop has minimum RAM requirement of 4Gb

Of COURSE it gets sluggish on a 4Gb machine

try one with higher RAM

for most people, these are great machines, and far more convenient and versatile than anything else on the market.

Not an IT expert, but would like some help. Why does Chrome need so much RAM. I find it better for automatic translation of foreign websites and search results. Translation with Edge or other browsers tends to be a long process, and does not always line up on the screen correctly.

It's the way it's been designed, like a greedy pig... but for good reason and with your convenience in mind

Explanation: Why Chrome Uses So Much Freaking RAM?
Edited by: "FireOnAWire" 27th Nov

Hi All,

So I have a Surface pro 3 i7 version. Does anyone have any links to ACTUAL performance differences between the 4th Gen i7 and the 7th Gen M3 ?

I will be using this for photo editing as well as video work.

TIA

Bought one yesterday, Price matched in PCWORLD (terrible service just order on amazon)

I run 3d creation programs such as Autodesk's Maya, Works fine just don't expect to have a full scene setup and running smooth, for general modelling its fine.
Sketchbook pro runs fine and Overwatch runs at 45fps on lowest settings if you fancy some very light gaming.
Tablet doesn't really get hot even playing overwatch.

Thanks for the link. Seems a shame that no other can do proper translation. I had wondered why it appears so many times in Task Manager.

How do you find the screen?

I can't see a real reason to upgrade from the Surface Pro 3 I have... what's the newest "feature" added to this one that might sway me?

How do you find the screen?

Screen is as you would expect from any premium tablet/laptop. I had a Ipad pro previously and I prefer the surface screen.

Clear and bright, The only issue i would imagine you might have is in full sunshine you might have a bit of glare, Most screens have that issue, I had it previously with a Ipad pro.

I have uninstalled all of Microsoft's little "additions" they have with windows 10, For example "trial Office" etc
I have setup OneDrive to sync all my data between devices so space isn't really much of an issue for me.

Keyboard is fantastic and the touch pad is on par with mac's in my opinion.

First thing I did was install all of the Microsoft updates so that the system runs as expected by Microsoft.

4GB ram may be an issue if need to multitask heavy load applications, I can run Autodesk's Maya with multple chrome tabs open without an issue, The only thing I would say is that Maya does take about 30 seconds to load fully before you can start creating.

Overwatch takes about 1 minute to load into the menu and then from that point it runs fine at lowest settings, (resolution scale at 75% for good frames per second (about 35-45fps and doesn't really drop below that).

Thanks, appreciate the info

It looks like the same spec as this thing which is over a year old.

aliexpress.com/ite…tml?

I'm sure the build quality is much better (and so it should be for the additional cost) but I don't think I'd pay 600 quid for this tbh.

It leaks memory like Trump leaks White House staff. It's just a very poorly written program unfortunately but people stick with it (me included) for the convenience factor.

would love a john lewis price match but need some one like pc world 2 sell it

The Microsoft website has it for the same price with 8% Quidco (expires in 2 days).

Is the processor any good?

If you buy from John Lewis though you do not get the keyboard? I got mine yesterday from amazon and am very impressed with it! I love it! It seems faster than my home pc! Home pc is 8gb memory 2tb hard drive but 3 yrs old! The keyboards is lovely 😊 I love it

Says John Lewis don't price match Amazon? As they are online only...? How did you get it?
