This was £599 at the Microsoft store. Mine arrived last week and I am really pleased with it.

No, the one you linked is better.

Not worth £200 more though.

Actually, it is. The iPad Pro is the next best comparison and that is 769, the keyboard is 169, and that has NOTHING on the surface which is a full PC, not a tablet trying to do PC things. Not to mention the pen on this is AMAZING, same price as the Apple Pencil, but way better. This is coming from an owner of a pro 3 and pro 4, and a MacBook Pro which I love, so I'm not a Microsoft fan boy, but don't see why people are quick to say they're not worth paying for when frankly, this price is a bargain but even full rrp is fair, though not including the pen is a bad move, you can't really complain when Apple don't include their pencil either....

What are you going to be doing on this that needs an ULV i5 but where a m3 is insufficient?

This is more than sufficient for most, I thought you meant it's not worth the money period. Perhaps I read your comment out of context, I apologise if so!
For photoshop, solidworks etc, you'll notice the extra power the i5 gives (my friend has an m3, it's great as a day to day device but mine do perform better in the more intense programmes. Strictly the more intense ones, general office work etc is identical...

If that's not the requirement, the m3 is more than enough. And that £200 is better spent on the pen and some left over for other needs!

I have the m3 version of this and am looking to get a cheapo pen that has the same functionality as the original including the button & pressure sinsitive stylus. Does such a thing exist?

Just got a genuine Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Stylus from CEX for £32.00

Hmmmm ... this or one of the new ARM based 2in1s that are due out early next year. Will be replacing an iPad Pro 9.7 and used to supplement my XPS15. Opinions?

I agree I find the Core-m is a much better balance for a device like this as it can run without a fan but better for day to day use than the Atoms, I find the ULV's run too hot for a thin and light device and in real terms they're no more useful because they're still very weak processors for anything that needs any cpu grunt.

Bargain but this isn't the latest gen version as far as I can make out so no tilt and less sensitivity, if that's important to you.

I had a surface pro m3 and loved it. Foolishly moved to a Yoga 900 and never liked it. Went back to surface pro but this time a core i5 SP and love it but can’t tell the difference in day to day use compared to the m3 except I occasionally hear a fan which I never did with the m3

No it is the newest one, they stopped giving them numbers but it would be the pro 5 if it had a number.
