Great deal though

Super hot!!! My John Lewis order is being delivered today. Although I really want the burgundy type cover, this is too much of a saving to pass on so guess I'm doing a return! Chanchi32 strikes again!

The only thing that puts me off Surface Pros are the absurd screen ratios and resolutions. It doesn't play well with some apps, media or games.
Heat added, though jl was 3 year warranty. Think may have finished on jl now though. Started from a Microsoft deal that ran til 11th.
This is a great machine at a good price. The face unlock is awesome too!
Just ordered!
My Surface Pro 3 literally stopped working last night. It just won't turn on and I've tried everything. I hope this model lasts longer than that did.
£99 for the Pen is stopping me. This is a bargin and my finger is hovering over the buy button!
If only it was 8GB RAM

Look up amazon.de. I got one from there for about £70

I've had one of these for a while but prefer my lenovo yoga 2 pro. What bugs me about the surface is it doesn't counterbalance the weight of the screen, so if you are using it on your knees it's always in danger of falling over. I'm sure that's fine for most people but for me it defeats the object its portability.

Which way might it fall? Doesn’t the kick stand stop it falling back and the tilt stops it from falling forward?

It's precisely that both the thin keyboard and the tilt stand have to be on your legs at the right angle, so it's more frequently unstable when you change positions. Whereas with a normal laptop the weighted base rests on your lap and you fix the relative screen angle. It's less the danger of it falling, more the general instability and increased balancing and adjustment that's required.

I'm just talking personal preference though (as someone who has every gadget under the sun) and quite understand that the surface form will work for other people and there is a specific use-case on these for those doing drawing. (That said, I have the pen and rarely use it because most of my usage involves using the keyboard)

Just a slight follow up as it's mentioned widely on the web, like in this article nsqsdkv.com/the…ro/ (although I actually like the magnetic power lead). I didn't mention that for the same reason it isn't good on soft surfaces, like on the bed. On several occasions the kids have had it on their lap and forgotten that all the weight is in the screen so when the jiggled their knees it has tipped back and fallen on the floor.

All that said, it's personal preference and individual use-cases so do experiment to see if it's the right combination for you.
These are great. Used one at work for a couple of months. Much better than a pure tablet as it's a full windows computer, with word excell etc yet it's very light and can be used as a tablet.

To be fair though, that article is over 5 years old and everything it refers to has changed either incrementally or drastically in that time. So seems a bit irrelevant.

I do get what you mean, it's potentially still an issue to bear in mind if you are wanting to use it predominantly on your lap in a fairly upright position. If you are happy using it at a slightly more extreme angle (sitting fairly upright, looking slightly down rather than straight on), it's not an issue at all. The stand on older Surface Pro's didn't allow for this.

Lol, £500+ for a 'dead' Device, is a lot of wonga to chuck down the toilet for nothing?!.

Unless of course, it's strictly necessary ...
these things are so damn sexy ♥
This or asus transformer pro 3 i5 or samsung tabpro 12 ?
Good price!! Paid £620 for the i3 back in December and thought that was good
Good form factor, good processor, nice screen resolution but why only 4GB RAM?! 8GB would be passable

How good is the tablet mode?
Edited by: "daBluone" 12th Apr
Sadly the 4gb of ram pretty much kills this model, which is why it’s always on offer. Looks a great deal on the surface but that 4gb is a big limitation on how you use it.

That said, if you view this model as a tablet first, laptop second, you will be fine. The higher end versions are the other way around (laptop first, tablet second) but you need to spend £200 more to get then 8gb which is a big jump up!
OUCH!!

Just arrived. No keyboard AND its the M Processor not the i5 !!!!!

Called them and they confirmed they sent the wrong order (as the prices were the same!) and are re-arranging collection, refund within 5 working days. Luckily I hadn't opened the box otherwise they wouldn't have refunded it! Asked if the offer will still be on by the time I get the refund so I could re-order and they couldn't tell me.

I5 and i7 the difference dis 50÷ faster
I ordered this today. They confirmed it is the alcantara cobalt blue keyboard (the premium ones, around £149). Not sure whether I'm keeping it yet but seemed like a steal at that price.
Mine just arrived this morning and it’s the standard type cover not the Alcantara - not impressed considering they said it was the cobalt blue cover I bought the matching pen to go with it

It wasn't great - I was just saying you said on the phone it was a cobalt blue (alcantara one) and the picture is too. First of all they tried getting the Microsoft Store support team (actual Microsoft Store) to try and replace it which obviously wasn't going to happen because I got it from AO so now I'm waiting for a callback about it. I'd not tried the Surface at that point because I called as soon as I saw the wrong type cover but now I've tried the Surface it has a weird fault where it keeps locking/sleeping itself every other time you touch it, I googled it and it's happened to a small number of people but the experience hasn't been great so it'll have to be a full exchange hopefully with the right keyboard.

What’s the model number (sticker on top left corner on the reverse of the surface box) ?
The picture on the website does not correspond with the product!!! It's a normal type cover as mentioned in the description and not as the pictures!

If you opened the box they wouldn't refund you? That's not how returns work.

Edit - looked up their "30 day return" policy and found this (safe to say I won't be ordering with this company, especially with the recent mistakes written in above posts):

If you've used the product.

We're happy for you to unpack the item and inspect it properly, however, if you've used or installed it, we will only make a partial refund to cover the loss in value of the product. Please note, this could be up to 50% of the price of the item. Your refund will be made within 14 days of collection, or from the day you dropped your product off at a store if you are using our Drop at Shop service.

It was their error/fault, so I don't see why not?.

As a rule of thumb, 'customer courtesy' call, they SHOULD!, no?.
