Mainly as an experiment. You can get the brand new Microsoft Surface pro 4 and a set of Duracell batteries for £702.98 in store if you are with O2 (free sim available to anyone) and use the £50 off £750 spend. You can also order them into store if none in stock and still use this deal.

Tink you may need to explain that the batteries are to put the initial cost, before discount, over £750. So you can use the £50 off £750 with O2?
Yeah good point. Don't know how to edit my listing though. But yes you just need anything to push the base price over £750 so you can use the voucher from O2 priority.
Hot, but personally I wouldn't get the base model with the Core M processor. Would spend the extra £100 to get the i5.
Worth it for the AA batteries alone.

don't not buy for now ,currently there is a major problem with Win10 ,

100 is not much considering a big upgrade
This is the M3-6Y30 processor though. If you're spending £700 on an PC I wouldn't settle for less than an i5. I'm not saying everyone needs the power, but if you don't, you probably shouldn't be spending so much on a PC - unless of course money isn't really an object. I think money would be better spent on the Surface Pro 3 with an i5.

My 1st gen Surface pro is still going strong!

Care to explain? Many people on here including myself are on Win10 with no "major problem". Running it on a Surface Pro 3 and not had any issues.

I really liked my SP1 but got fed up with battery life, especially if I wanted to do a bit of gaming or playing films on high brightness, battery would lose 50% in an hour.

Doh quoted wrong post. CBA to change it.

What major problems? I know there have been a couple of driver issues, but nothing major to stop people from buying it. What problems did your brother have? I'm curious as a friend of mine wants one so not sure if I should tell him to wait now.

So your double-negative means that we should buy it? It seems fine to me.

it's a great product, like you I told my brother to buy which he did , but when he had the problem, he took it back to the store in South Ruslip, they could replace the 256gb model out of stock, but the guy said wait for couple weeks in,I suggest you tell your friend to wait for a couple weeks

hey, would you know how i could get a cheap sp1 now and where? is it worth it to get sp1 now.

no wait couple weeks that's what the salesperson told my brother.but it's upto you I am only telling what happened yesterday with my brother .
I am really interested in the Surface. I'd like this as my major work machine (I work in a school). What do owners think? Could you justify ditching the desktop and using this as your work base?

Don't not buy? So do buy then.
But for people using this as a new Macbook alternative, then of course the core M is just fine for those people

You still haven't said what the actual problem is that should stop people from buying it now oO
Still got my Surface Pro 1 and it's working great. The i5 processor is still speedy but oh boy is the battery life terrible. It can manage around 4 hours with normal use. Might upgrade one day to the new Surface but I'm not a fan of the move from a 16:9 screen just to copy Apple.

Also Windows 10 is terrible on touch only devices, 8.1 was far superior and was a joy to use on Surface. It was almost like the OS for made specifically for it. There are still many things Microsoft will have to address before it's as intuitive as it was before. Metro IE was fantasic.
clubuk: And it seems like your brother was told to wait since they didn't have any stock, rather than because a known problem was being fixed.

Don't buy the M processor version. pay extra and get the skylake latest generation processor. it's definitely worth it.

There is no issue, its simply that the device requires an immediate software update as soon as it has turned on. Reason being a Win10 update was released just as the pro4 was released. Simple answer is to update the software upon purchase and it will run smoothly

I've ditched my dev. desktop and looked at getting the SP3 but in the end went for a HP Spectre x360 which was around the same price, figured it was the best of both worlds, wasn't bothered about the stylus. No throttling issues either.

Listening to somebody who works for currys was his first mistake
Not apple. Hot

Clearly for power users and gamers, this device hits the spot. If you're looking for a windows PC/tablet and don't need anything fancy, consider a Teclast X98 Air. I've had mine for about a month now and it continues to impress me. Full Windows 10, 2048x1536 and dual boots in to Android 5. The price? Around £100. Add another £20 and you'll get one with a built in SIM card slot.

I have the SP1 and have to agree that the battery life is pretty dire, don't agree about w8.1 though, I hated that, would have preferred win7 on it and 10 seems ok.

Win10 or the discount code or both?
You can use the surface (3) pro dock with the 4 you are eligible for a free adaptor from MS to allow it to fit as it is a little thinner than the 3. the old dock is on offer at currys at just under £100 with the new smaller non supportive dock £165

The core m in the SP4 *is* a skylake CPU - a big jump up from broadwell core m and perfectly usable as a daily driver laptop. If you're happy sticking with 4GB ram and 128GB SSD then it'll be roughly on par with the i5 for general browsing/office stuff. And it's fanless so no noise at all
