Community Updates
Something to bear in mind if you're buying this. The Surface Pro 4 was released in October 2015. That means the battery inside is probably 6 to 6 and a half years old. So whilst it's all good saying a laptop like this is Grade A, if the battery can't easily be replaced, you could end up buying a dud.
So if you buy one, I recommend opening up Windows Powershell and run this command:
powercfg /batteryreport
That will show you the health of the battery. If the actual capacity is too low, I recommend returning it. Alternatively, you need to factor in the cost of buying a replacement battery yourself. Here's a tutorial from Ifixit if you go down that route - ifixit.com/Gui…358

Definitely not. This uses 6th gen processors and Win11 requires 8th Gen.
Great deal though so have some heat. My only hesitation would be how good the 6 year old used battery would be.

There is any easy workaround. Just google it and plenty of pages come up on how to do it. I have an old 15 year old Sony Vaio which now has Windows 11 on it and runs like a dream. No issues.

Yes, it said that with mine also, but once I registered for the Beta channel of Windows Insider I received the Windows 11 upgrade immediately.

with this one I would suggest you not to get win11 even if you can, because the new memory management is more demanding than Win10, and 16gigs of ram as minimum is recommended. plus win11 experience is a downgrade anyway...for now, by the time they fixed everything you can already buy a new computer

Yeah I know there are still a lot of issues with Win 11. I'm in no hurry to move on , with my compatible PC.
Interesting that my question has brought on conflicting answers , but maybe the Insider Programme isn't considered an official public MS endorsement of compatibility.
