I'm not sure if this is a pricing error but it has been reduced even more making it the cheapest iv seen it.

Found this on the Johnlewis site. it works out cheaper than the student price on the Microsoft store. All the surface pro's have been discounted.

Great price, I use mine as a shopping list.

Every little helps.
£880 for a tablet? Dunno what these actually cost, but it seems too much
almost £900 for a tablet? that a lot for me
It's not a tablet it's an ultrabook minus the keyboard.
That's a great price, definitely the lowest I've seen and from JL!

Interesting pre-judging based on no knowledge of said item.
If you don't know what it is then it's probably not for you.
Good price OP. Nice find.

Good spot. Still a bit high for my pocket but as you say, it's best available.

I may just go for the M3 after all as I'd only really want a windows tablet that I can do some drawing on, a bit of Google SketchUp, and the usual wibbly wobbly web and Office.

the Atom based Surface 3 (128GB/4GB RAM) can handle that kind of usage, assuming the slightly smaller screen isn't a deal breaker? Hot deal OP!
Amazing Windows PC that also functions as amazing tablet. HOT.
This is a truly incredible device and an astonishingly affordable price. Hotter than Jessica Alba this one.

Certainly something wrong with you if you think a Windows based tablet is hotter than Jessica alba.
Great machine.
Loved the Surface Pro 3 for work, had a quick go on the Pro 4 and its so far excellent
As someone who is typing this comment on one of these, the £100 keyboard cover is pretty much mandatory with this thing. Also there's an annoying issue where the battery will run down while the surface is asleep, they did have it fixed for a short while with a firmware update but then another update broke it again. Still voting hot because it is a decent bit of kit at a decent price and the battery issue has been fixed with an update once so in theory it should be again.
So the core M3 version is £602, still seems expensive for this low end processor and with only 4gb ram
If anyone is considering the M3 version the aspire switch 11v is a much better deal

Genuine question, based on your experience of the necessity to use a keyboard, would an i5 laptop with a touchscreen not do everything just as well as this?

You'd be missing out on the pen functionality of the surface.
The most overpriced, overhyped piece of kit ever.

Don't forget to add another £100 for the privilege of being able to type.

Microsoft talk about this being able to replace my laptop.

Not with a piddly 12.3" screen it won't.

The Samsung Galaxy TabPro S will give this a run for it's money and I can see this being down to under £600 in 3 months because it's specs simply don't justify such a highly inflated price that makes Apple pricing seem reasonable in comparison.
Every regard, for some reason link not posting but it's on the John Lewis site, just search for Acer aspire switch 11 v sw5-173. It's £479.95 and I think a much better deal.
People who think this is just a tablet is ignorant... This is essentially a full blown windows 10 pc in a tablet form.

That's your opinion and thus is subjective. You pay a premium for the pen functionality, kickstand and higher resolution screen.

No one is ignorant here, and anyone looking to buy this would know exactly what it can do, the point is that there are much cheaper equivalents that do the same thing, and also come with a keyboard attachment. There's no denying the fact that the surface pro is hideously over priced.

You also pay a premium for 4 hours use on battery, and a host of well documented issues.

Battery life depends on what you use the tablet for.
There are issues with a lot of products on the market, not just the Surface products.
So far today I've purchased a Surface Pro 4, a Bluetooth Soundbar, and a Tefal steam generator Iron.

I hate this website!

(must buy more stuff.....)

A premium of circa £400 just for those things? going to be a pretty small target audience then I would estimate...
One could have Chinese tablet with 14nm Core Y CPU, PEN functionality, FHD screen 10.6 inches, 4Gb ram, upgradeable 64GB SSD with 64bit Windows 10 of course for £220. Add £40 for a matching keyboard.

I got one of those for £110 during Christmas raffle on one of websites. Should have probably saved to buy £900 Surface.

Absolutely so long as you don't plan on using the surface pen, I bought mine for use with adobe Illustrator/Photoshop and some very light portable gaming/PS2 emulation and for those purposes it fits the bill pretty well.

Why I said the keyboard is a necessity is because as a tablet experience, Windows 10 is mediocre at best and on a screen with a DPI as high as this one, there will be times when fingers won't have the fidelity to press where you want them to press.

I am suggesting people who call this just a tablet are ignorant, as they clearly do not know what they are talking about. Owning this I would say this device is actually quite a poor tablet (mainly to windows10's failings), but as a full blown windows 10 pc in a tablet form it makes for a very competent well built portable device.

Have to agree, I own the i5 4GB version and you are not just paying for spec. Everything feels premium on this, the screen is outstanding in pretty much every area (colour accuracy, contrast ratio). The speakers are far better than anything similar ive ever used. The pen, the keyboard, everything feels premium. Yes there has been a number of issues reported on these (luckly not had any of these) but Microsoft have done a number of updates over a pretty short period of time and addressed these, would you get that from these cheap tablets?

For me its like comparing two cars, you may get the same engine in both but its the whole package you need to look at.
Price gone back up to £968 now!
