Went into PC World today and they had the Surface Pro 4 i5 4GB ram and 128GB hard drive marked as £429.
They are selling off the displays.
I bought one, they then say it will take a couple of days as they re-format and get rid of the demo and PC World stuff.
They had 3 at Highgate Birmingham, 5 in Worcester, 4 in Kidderminster, 1 in Solihull, so there seems to be plenty around.
There is 1 in Selly Oak, the person I spoke with there said it was a demo only, but it isn't, it just needs to be set up.
The keypad is not reduced or included.
The pen is included, and it will come boxed.
In Highgate they had them at full price, but confirmed it was not correct and lowered it to £429.

Ex display, surely the batteries would be knackered
Few notes some may find useful as I bought a SP3 ex demo last year;
-Yes they are allowed to sell it to you, 1 store tried telling me they weren't.
-it's really easy to remove the demo mode yourself, you don't have to wait for them to do it.
-when you come to register the product on your ms account it may say it's only got a months warranty or something, simply livechat ms support and they'll just ask for a copy of your proof of purchase and renew your warranty online.
No offensive but if you've been in Currys you will see how badly treated display stock is.
Are these Surface Pros any better than the older models? I used to use one at work and it frustrated me endlessly, not fit for purpose and I couldn't understand the price.

True, I went to a store with several, compared them and went for one that was on the side without the keyboard and looked in good condition. To be fair, I could not see anything wrong with the others either, and it is still under warranty.

They've been pretty fabulous since 3 imo
What did you find frustrating about it? Still a little pricing normally but hey
I'll pop in to my local one tomorrow. My first gen machine needs replacing, so if they have one I'm definitely buying.

Cheers for the heads-up

Unless this includes a full warranty I wouldn't touch this with a barge pole. At least then you can return it to MS and get a properly refurbished model.

They told me it will have a full warranty, or else I wouldn't touch it either
Good upgrade. Don't worry about the type cover price either, I just posted a deal regarding how to get a cheap original type cover. Besides, you get a year long guarantee from Microsoft. I used a cheap charger and it fried my surface pro 4. Microsoft just replaced it for me. Was really pumped about that.

I bought an ex-display Surface Pro 3 - for £400 from Currys, Boxing-day 2015.

I use it for work and at home, so very heavy usage.

I just checked the battery stats from recent charges. Until two weeks ago I was always getting 99-100% of the designed full charge. However this last fortnight there's been a 8% drop in maximum charge, which has sustained. Not sure why or if it's temporary.
I love my surface pro 4 I would definitely buy at this price and will pop in my 2 locals tomorrow as mine is the m3 version not the i5. I've had experience with ms returns and warranty claims on 2 band 2's and they have always been quick and efficient so I wouldn't be worried there.
battery suks.drains very very fast.....apart of that good tablet
Was announced today that over 25% of Surface laptops need repairs in the first year. Buy HP!

It was awkward to use as a laptop because the keyboard and trackpad felt really cheap. It was awkward to use as a tablet because Windows doesn't work great on tablets. It couldn't make its mind up whether it wanted to be in tablet or desktop mode. Considering how much it cost I was expecting it to at least be powerful but it often lagged on basic processes. I ended up ditching it after a couple of months and reverting to the tatty old Toshiba laptop I had used before we got the Surface Pros because at least I was comfortable with it. We've since upgraded to some proper Dell laptops so don't have any issues any more.
I bought one today without even seeing the deal on here I noticed the price when replacing a fire tablet my daughter cracked. they tried to format in store but then told me to come back tomorrow and it will be formatted for me , told me I have full warranty with them too
I love my new Surface Pro 4.

The manager said that the displays are from Microsoft (obviously) and sent to be used as displays, so all are i5 4GB ram etc, so not customer returns.
You can alsways buy the insurance from PC World if worried, they do it for £8/pm.
I bought the m version of this about a month ago and hatred it. If went back took the shop within a couple of days.
Very laggy, and quite a lot of screen touches didn't register. It felt very underpowered as a laptop and not nearly snappy enough to be a tablet.
There i5 version is probably better though.

You can phone and reserve according to the salesman I spoke with yesterday, but I decided to go in and take my pick instead.
It's a more generous saving than you often see on ex-display stock
Anyone have any luck with any store in Glasgow?

Had mine i5 4GB since March and I've been impressed. I did buy a Brydge keyboard for it, but to be honest, it works just as well with the type cover. I use mine for 1080P video editing and it doesn't lag. Only issue I've had is the wife doesn't like how loud the keyboard is when typing
Everything Microsoft touches ends up a dud.Just look at the garbage phones they tried to push and ended up putting Nokia in an early grave.Purchased the 12.9 iPad pro and love it.Better customer support better apps better eco system better product.Wouldnt touch anything Microsoft put their name on.
Has anyone got the code for this item to make it easier to search in store?

I found when I got the Surface Pro 3 ex display stock last year it was easier to walk in, get them to do a stock check on the number and then you know where it's in stock.

Anyone?

I am not sure this is it, on my receipt it says 1x 0000149485 £429.97. My memory says that he inputed a code beginning with '7', so it may not be the stock number.

This is correct this is the stock code 149485
It looks like it would be 149485 is the number that they'd search for. Thanks!

I have the I5 version but having tried the M version in a shop it sounds like yours had an issue, I didn't feel much difference with just the basics.
