With new models announced yesterday, I'd expect this to be more heavily discounted soon.

With the new model, a core i5/8gb/256gb SSD without type cover starting at 1169 I'm honestly not sure it will go much lower. Especially since most retailers (including John Lewis, Currys/PCWorld) have started adding SP6 SKUs to their sites (Platinum 128gb i5 Surface w/ Type cover for £779 and 256gb i5 w/ Cover for 929 - 899 at CPW) within the last few days - so that might be the new defacto price for SP6 stock they still need to clear.
Also worth noting this comes with the JL exclusive "blush" type cover, rather than the standard black or other signature colours - so might be why its discounted more so due to the cover than the tablet itself
Not a bad price I suppose. The 256 has been cheaper at currys in past, and the 128 version has been a lot cheaper with the £100 amex discount @ £649 with cover
I expect similar prices again if not cheaper on black friday next month
I would wait till these drop further in price, I recently managed to bag myself a used one in mint condition with the signature keyboard off from eBay for £600 using discount code, this was for the Pro 5 model, i7 chip, 16GB ram and 500GB hard drive 😁

I’d like to agree and hope so too but these models are 8th gen and the first quad-cores they’ve had so I think they will hold value better than we expect. Also Intel has been really delayed with their new chips recently.
Not bad, but waiting for Black Friday before considering if I get one back again
can you put this on your lap like a normal laptop?

The keyboard is very light weight and thin so it won't feel the same as a normal laptop, what I do is I push the stand behind the screen a little further down so it rests better on my lap

Sort of - it's a terrible experience - my take on the surface pro - it's a good device if you always know you are going to have a flat table to work on. I have on from work and although it's fine as a free device, I personally would not get it in place of a laptop.

if you don't cross your legs it works quite well, depends on the user I guess

Entirely - it's just having used both the Go and the Pro, I'm happy for work to issue them to me I wouldn't spend my own money on one - especially if it was my only machine and I had a job where I wrote a lot.
