    no not required.
It will be hardwired most of the time.

But mobile when I need to take notes using the pen.

Of course a longer battery life would be great. But the reduced cost far outweighs a need for a longer battery life.

How do the specs on this compare with this 2 in 1 from medion? … How do the specs on this compare with this 2 in 1 from medion? http://www.medion.com/gb/prod/MEDION+AKOYA+P2211T+2-1+Laptop-Tablet+%28MD98602%29/30016454A1?recommendationId=fa3a7ee0-a239-11e3-8775-c86000be4267&wt_mc=gb.intern.recomm.productDetail.on-ma&wt_cc1=4&wt_cc2=30016454A1&wt_cc3=30015481A1 mainly talking about cpu/gpu (2gb ram seems low as well) I would like something can can play games as demanding as fez (so if it can play indie games and old gog games then thats enough for me)

The medion uses a baytrail (atom based)celeron cpu based with its pretty slow intel hd graphics. The cleron isnt too bad but the gpu is horribly slow, its uses 4eu's compared to 16 on ivybridge and also runs at a lower frequency. Pretty useless for games, 2gb is low for metro too.

Its strange because it has 64gb cache (which is really high) and a 500gb hd. They woudllve been better of with a 128 ssd.
Good battery life though( probably because of the low power cpu)

http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/tablets/microsoft-surface-pro-1123800/reviewseems it will run for a little less than three hours at various load.So better than most laptops anyway. Not an issue in the slightest for me.

Most websites tracked it at around five hours and a firmware update was released after that re-review which added extra battery life.

Another thing was pointed out on Anandtech, they found that the software they normally use for video playback drained the battery quite a bit and that the same video played using Win8's own video playback software gained them over an hour in battery life.

Quiet similar to the deal posted in January but with addition of the … Quiet similar to the deal posted in January but with addition of the touch keyboard which wasn't included - so works out a similar price which is great value. Tried ordering it last time but my card got blocked by the useless MicrosoftStore, had to ended up calling my bank to unblock it and by that time the deal had already expired.I ordered it last night and it was a nightmare. The process went through but I've received no confirmation to say that it has by email and the website itself doesn't show anything in the order history. I've received confirmation from quidco that its tracked the order which is odd. Not sure what to think, but I've read in their FAQs that they say their "team" will send out confirmation after they verify and review the order. Have no idea why Microsoft have to make it so difficult to purchase anything off their website. We'll see what happens...

it takes up to 12 hours to process an order... I've ordered a surface rt last evening and got the emails this morning saying order processed, however shipping the unit can take up to 1-3 working days ( due high volume of orders now ! ) I have spoken to CS about 2 hours ago about similar concerns just be patient ... I still haven't received shipping confirmation as yet ( almost after 24 hour from ordering it ).
  6. deleted1007084's avatar
if you have problems with it repeating over and over on the shipping page its most likely because the touch cover is out of stock in the colour you want, i tried over and over with a black cover to find out on another page that it is out of stock, once i added the blue cover it went through no issues. biggest pain in the ass webstore i ever used in my life. good job i wanted a pro badly.

    ordered 128gb model £520 - £70 cash back = £450 for a good i5 128gb, compared to other hybrid tablets its a steal imo.

Seems to be the touch cover, not the type cover, unless I'm missing something.

Just had a look at 128gb class 10's looks like as little a price as £60!

I also noted that Microsoft prevent you from installing to SDXC (I wonder why!!) but USB drives are possible.

It is possible to circumvent this though by installing to USB drive then copying files to the SDXC card

Because I am a student with the open university and I have been registered as such with Microsoft for the past year.

You have to jump few a few hoops to prove you are a student.
This is a good thing so people do not abuse the system.

HP has a similar student scheme going which I managed to prove my status last week after considering a Spectre.
This is a better deal for me though.

I don't see how you guys are managing to order these. Just tried after setting up a completely new Microsoft account just to make sure there wasn't something weird about my original one. Still does exactly the same thing. Submit the shipping address and the page just reloads. I've tried different browsers, machines, address and nothing works!

Are these really any good? I got the Surface 2 (RT) and am underwhelmed by it - it's going back. Much difference?

I know the technical differences but is the user experience much better with the Pro?

read the review on the link I posted above.
You really have to factor in the price this is right now to realise how good it is.

Surprised this hasn't hit 100 yet and the masses have not jumped on it.

    BTW
After looking at options for mine (64gb version), I originally considered a class 10 Sandisk 64gb (£70 amazon)

However, as I am more interested in storage at my desk, I have realized a more cost effective option is to buy a USB3 hard drive enclosure @ £6-7. Example found:

    ebay.co.uk/itm…d42

Then I can purchase an SSD of any size at a much lower price per Gb and have excellent read/write speeds. So, for example, I could get the enclosure and a 240gb crucial m500 for £100

still not decided whether to go for this or an i5 or i7 laptop for around £500.

Does this come with free Microsoft Office?

    In any case heat added.
