The students are welcome to it!
Others, one hopes, might have more sense

Are you kidding? This is a great deal even for a surface pro 1

awesome piece of kit, i don't understand why or how anyone can knock this device.

The cold votes will be coming from people who've never tried one, the first one has it's flaws, but is an incredible piece of kit for this price. The Surface Pro 2 is even better, but it's unfortunate that some people aren't very open minded when it comes to Microsoft.

Really good deal for a pro. Give most professional adults an ipad they play with it for a week and think its amazing and then come after two and tell you all the things they wanted to do but cant and the things they thought were amazing they no longer use. Give them a surface and you don't hear from them again . . .

P.s. it has office on ! The number 1 question I get from people with ipads - why cant I easily open and edit these attachments ? Thats because they are office documents my dear . . .

I have the suface pro 2, it is superb, and i understand not hugely different to this. While Ipad has the apps etc, if you want to produce something you'll need this.

The ipad is an 'as well' as device to compliment a laptop or desktop. This is a real genuine laptop.

I would seriously pick this over the Asus Transformer T100. Battery life maybe not as great, but you get a better screen and more ram and processing power.

Love my surface pro 1. Hate Windows 8 though. The mix of desktop and Metro just doesnt work for me. Spend too much time faffing about between the two just trying to do the simplest of tasks.
That said, the hardware itself is awesome and I use it everyday.
Watching movies and using Office is a joy while out and about.

is this 128gb version??

ive got a surface pro.. i love it...

64gb.. still a good deal tho.. i got a 128gb for 500 with a free touch keyboard

Moron!

You seem to be able to add 26 touch covers to your order for free, just wish I was a student

How bad is the viewing angle from the lap? One of the things they improved on the surface pro 2 was the tilt stand and the battery life, which were the main complaints about this one but I haven't tried any of them. Also Is this that good a deal? You would need to buy a USB hard drive and a decent keyboard so overall the costs would be quite a bit higher (for my usage anyway). Is there any decent laptop with similar specs for the price?

Guys, I have just signed up for a quidco account after constantly seeing it posted on here and thought I would give it a go. Can anyone help me out? I see I just click on the deal link on the quidco website which takes me to the microsoft store which I'm guessing means they recorded that they directed me there for the cashback ?

Also how long on average does the cash back take ?

Windows licence only for a year.

Has anyone noticed you can add as many touch covers as you like and price doesn't alter, doubt microsoft would send more than 1 though

Yeah I noticed it earlier, wouldn't it be nice if they went through with it ;D

It's a 1 year Office 365 subscription, so you have to pay to renew the licence after the first year. Another £79 each year.

I thought office came pre installed? or is that just the surface? I'd grab one in a shot if I didn't have to have the office 365 subscription, I've already got one don't need another

You can buy a surface pro with free touch cover for £395, just search other deals. That's currently sat in my basket and I'm agonising over it...!

nice deal

Just Surface RT & Surface 2, not the Pro or Pro 2. Annoying.

As a student it's only 60 for 4 years on 2 devices plus you get 20GB of OneDrive storage, I also received a 1 year Xbox Gold subscription but don't think that's available anymore.

my order even started with two covers. amended to 26 and ordered

You clearly have no idea what this is.

Why are there so many surface pro 1 around? And why would you buy one now?

Obviously a Troll with a hate for Microsoft, and someone who probably has never worked in a business environment, but you keep telling yourself you know what you are talking about :-)

Something pretty much everyone can see...... except him :-)

Speaks volumes really.

How do they check you are student?

Bet it won't run Football Manager

Football Manager 2014 runs fine on the 128GB version not sure why it would on the 64gb as you should have 30 - 40 gb of space free.

On the Student activation it uses a valid NUS number or student email from certain institutions, I did it with the email and it asks you to log in and verifies the account as part of the setup - it was very easy unlike the payment sent via outer Mongolia that your CC company will hate.

A nice bit of kit in my opinion but could do with the touch cover for the desktop side of things which I haven't got - if anyone gets 26 send one my way please

interesting - if you change quantity to 2 you only have to buy one 365 sub but you get the discounted price and free cover.

True. Also, the Asus has only 32gb storage and this simply isn't enough for a fully fledged Windows PC these days. I think most people will probably be okay with the 64gb on offer here. I'd still consider a 64gb micro sd card essential for storage of music, photos, etc. and the less intensive applications, saving the precious C drive storage for read/write intensive programs.

After two months, the 128gb Surface Pro is still my 13 year old son's favourite thing. Hot.

Is there anything legally or dodgy from a licence perspective about a student purchasing this, but then selling it on

....*cough* to their brother-in-law for example?
