i5 version might wanna add that to your op
That's a really good deal for the i5 and the new fingerprint ID cover. Shame they haven't got a similar discount on the 8GB version.
Head straight to John Lewis and get this price matched, then it'll be hot.

Isn't that just for the Surface Pro 4, not the latest version?
Dam, thought this was £299 till I clicked the link

Nope, had 1 out of 3 of the 2017 model exhibit screen flicker/glitches/artifacts, actually worse than any Pro 4 I've seen. The 2nd one had a faulty SSD, but no screen issues. On 3rd one now

Yikes....that is unlucky. Currently rocking the current model which had been great so far. Had the sp3 before but hated it due to terrible battery life and constant fans running (not good for a tablet). New version is much better though (so far).

Thanks for the update - guess I need to reconsider buying one and check very thoroughly if I do go for one.

The good thing about the screen issues are that they're so obvious, if yours has it, you'll notice within a few hours of general use. The SSD issue I had was much harder to determine as it only occurred after 60GB+ of data was written. It's definitely frustrating that they have so many issues, but there's a great device in there somewhere, I'm convinced of it.
Can someone post up the John Lewis link that is equivalent? There's so many!!!

They don't do a bundle with the fingerprint Typecover as far as I can see. The bundle they have is the same price with the standard cover, and is available for £709 on AO at the moment, so that's a better option for price match. On JL it's this bundle - johnlewis.com/mic…287

What was the problem with the SSD?

I don't know the exact technical fault, but it would result in a blue screen then a Windows recovery once you wrote over 60GB ish of data. Confirmed by 3rd party as a faulty drive.

Is this worth the extra £40?

The only addition is the fingerprint reader. For me yes, but it's subjective. If you can get JL to price match AO with the Signature cover, then no, the extra warranty is worth more.

JL don't price match online only retailers.

In general that's true. It's why I said 'if'. I've had them match AO and eBay before, so it is possible

May have been in the past but no more. Spoke to them yesterday and they said that they can’t pricematch AO as it’s an online retailer only so doesn’t have the overheads of a store chain so it’s not an even playing field (their words).

That's the general response they've always had afaik. It will depend on who you talk to. It may have changed I guess, though other's were able to use it on the last eBay 20% offer not long ago. The last time I did it successfully was in January, and I needed to ask 3 different people. If they don't do it straight away I find there's no point arguing.
