A quirky little giveaway here to coincide with the launch of Season 3 of Stranger Things on Netflix, one thats sure to take a fair few here on a nostalgia trip.

Description
Experience 1985 nostalgia with a special edition Windows 10 PC app inspired by Windows 1.0—but one that’s been taken over by the Upside Down from Stranger Things. Explore the mysteries and secrets plaguing Hawkins, unlock unique show content and easter eggs, and play retro games and puzzles—all building off Stranger Things 3. Join Eleven, Steve, Dustin and gang as they seek to save Hawkins and the world. Embrace the 80s and grab your hairspray, because it’s basically the raddest show companion experience ever. But fair warning: beware the Mind Flayer.

Hope it helps someone.

I'm sure this means something to someone.I just have council telly.

All the sky channels then?
I'm sure this means something to someone.

I just have council telly.
There is something a tad ironic about the fact that this requires Windows 10 in order to run and that it needs hundreds of times more memory (RAM and ROM) than an original 80s PC. In its initial incarnation it was undoubtedly more stable too and less likely to harvest personal data. Oh for the days before over-phishing.

So have I. wink wink!
I'd love to post that as a deal. Just to see what people would say.

Aaah. Windows before Workgroups 1.11. (look, I thought it was funny)
If this is the version before WFWG, then it was a 16bit version which didn't even include tcp/ip so why ir requires windows 10 to run....

Pretty sure WFWG was 3.11; never heard of Windows 1.x?

That aside, I think anyone can download a disk image and have it as a VM for free anyway.

Yes there was 3.1 before 3.11 that didn’t support workgroups, I downloaded a copy to play with on win 10 last year, my fun lasted about 20 mins
Windows 1.0 runtime or GEM as the competition..

what struck me about using the original 3.1 or 3.11 was how I ever managed without the right click, it was a few years ago but remember trying to right click and nothing happening.

Ah back in the days when you caught viruses by taking floppies from guys off the street...

Actually not much has changed
hmmm i wonder if i could run this from windows 10 that's running on my galaxy s10 phone lol
anyone else get a "Windows 1.11 is currently not available." ?
Inspired by Windows 1.0. Inspired being the key word. This ISN'T the OS, it's a game/promo.

Not sure it's available to UK users either, know it initially wasn't.
When I started secondary school, we had Windows 95, with no more than between 28.8Kbps and 33Kbps dial up internet. 56Kbps wouldn't arrive until '97. Yet we still complain about broadband speeds today

Oh for the days when people didn't need to find a reason to moan about everything. It's just a fun promo, but please suck the joy out of it.
It looks very 'Her Story'

It's called wit and it was spontaneous. A lighthearted comment, but hey ho. How on earth was it moaning, please? Regards.

Yeah, had to change region to US then 'add to cart' to checkout on the website rather than via the Win 10 Store app.

You're bound to catch a virus if you take a floppy of a guy in the street *cough*
Ah when i worked in a school in the 90s they ran Acorn Archimeds computers...best and easiest OS i've ever had the pleasure of using. Then we had our first PC which was a 'tesco vouchers' one where the parents had to collect 3,145,521 (yes i had to count them all) vouchers for a windows 95 pc which came with encarta 95! Thats when the rot began and the poor acorns got sidelined.

I go back to the Amstrad DD and Commodore running VisiCalc mind bogglingly difficult. Even with an IBM 486 it took all night to run a process file and autocad forget it.
Todays boxes are great and phones wow.

I washed my hands afterwards...
Yes the good old days, Bill Gates, no PC will ever need more than 640k of memory, having a 40mb hard drive and wondering how you would ever fill it.
Is it available for laptops?
This is not a Windows 1.11 emulator, its a gimmick game/tv show tie in....fun for those of us that like the show and are old enough to be the kids ages back in the 80s for a bit of fun.

In fairness, the title does say "Microsoft Windows 1.11 Free (Requires Windows 10)".

However, I think posters are just having a little fun.
