With Windows 7 coming out in November 2009, I wouldn't get this even if it was free! ;-)

Doesn't any new Vista now come with free Windows 7 upgrade?

Very creative way of selling Vista. Just remember that it is the OEM version, not the retail boxed one.

ebuyer.com/pro…970

That looks like the free TV sold at £150 on its own.

I think that's only if you buy new PCs with Vista. I don't know which retailers have got this offer in place

Nice price, odd package. Voted hot tho!

This really looks a good deal as oem vista 32bit sells for about £57 on ebay and Kaspersky Internet Security sells for about £15 on ebay so if that hd ready tv is over £140 it looks a good deal but i would ring ebuyer up and ask exactly what tv your getting also if oem vista 32bit and Kaspersky are boxed separately and not as a bundle

:O g

excellent price for the combos

Good price IMO

TV is surely for Free or at a rock bottom price.

Hot hot. While I also wouldn't personally use Vista, Ultimate is the best of the bunch. I imagine they are trying to shift inventory ahead of the W7 launch but even so it is good.
The only problem with the OEM against a retail box version would be you would need to do a clean install rather than an upgrade of an existing OS.
And you get a free telly!!

thx +rep

Excellent deal, no question.

Hottity hot! Ordered. Heated and rep'd. Thanks.

Excellent deal if only for the telly.
Vista really isn't as bad as many people say. I've been using it since the early betas and yes, it had problems early on, but these were addressed by patches and certainly by SP1 it was a stable OS. Granted, it has its faults, but doesn't deserve some of the bad press it gets.

Anyway, hot from me. Thanks to OP.

Not a bad deal, not going for it though as its 32 bit and OEM, plus I'm using Windows 7 RC at the moment and it suits my needs for the timebeing (dual booted with the awesome xp x64).

Been struggling to find a 19 inch TV for under 150 for the kitchen so this is a steal!!

Cheers OP

I'm surprised they are allowed to sell this package. OEM software is for sale with original hardware on which to run it. At least that's the way MS license it.

I've seen a whole load of different interpretations on the need for hardware to be sold alongside and OEM disk. A few years back one place was selling OEM disk + screw/screwdriver :-D

Maybe they get away with it by classing the TV as a component i.e. Monitor. Technicaly thats stretching it, but you can sell an oem copy with just a heatsink and fan.

The operating system itself, Vista 32bit, is exactly the same as the 32bit version on the retail box DVD.

With OEM you do not get fancy packaging, paper based quick start guide etc. That's it. There is no other differences.

I guess they're getting rid of these Vista Ultimates today because the Windows 7 free upgrade program starts tomorrow. Still, this is a very good deal.

OEM licenses are not portable. Ones activated on a computer it will be difficult/impossible to activate it again when you replace your computer at a later date (and is certainly against the license agreement).

Retail versions can be activated again and again, until you finally move to a newer OS. The retail version also allows you the choice of 32bit or 64bit, OEM is limited to whatever came supplied.

seems like they only launched vista a short while ago and theyre already launching win7 ? .. ithink i'll stick with xp till theres a good reason to move on.

This is true, OEM supposed to be tied to the motherboard and refuses to activate if you change it. However, you can easily get around this by calling microsoft and telling them that your motherboard died or something.

The key code on the license sticker of a branded computer isn't activated by default (they use a generic factory Windows key, since it would be too time consuming to use the one attached to each computer).

This means that you can actually use the key once, to activate another computer. Just because it works, doesn't make it legal (with legal I mean in spirit with the license agreement).

wow, expired within an hour of me seeing it. there were 45 in stock an hour ago.

My guess:

GREEDY EBAYER.

now 163 in stock

Yup, still in stock.

keeps changing from out of stock to in stock...
