OP Have you purchased/used this yourself recently and what do you think ?

i have read a lot of reviews talking about no connection or constant disconnects, i was thinking of getting one as my phone has a option for mirrorcast which i believe is compatible with this device
I have one and find it good for a lot of uses but when it comes to streaming videos at 1080p it struggles sometimes (not always though).

No idea about the mirrorcast option, I use my Surface Pro 4 to stream to it.

Cost me £50 over a year ago so pretty good price.

Works OK and a nice device, but as rmy suggested it may not be suitable for video streaming, I've watched videos and dependent on the format can be a bit choppy. For photos, presentations its good.

Just to confirm my experiences are using Samsung phone & Windows 10, using miracast to 50' TV.
Its usually version 1 that has the problems. I've had it about 6 months with no problems at all, 1080p or anything else.

Wouldn't a Chromecast be a better and cheaper option? Cold.

I dont think so as it doesnt mirror like this device does. From my limited knowledge as Ive never used Chromecast, Chromecast cant send everything wheras this device mirrors everything its connected to.

I can mirror my display from my Win10 Gaming PC. I use it for streaming Live Sports, Anime, TV shows etc from my PC to my TV. Works flawlessly also.

I've never tried streaming games over the Chromecast though and notice some input lag if I am using the browser but for streaming it's perfect.

Not sure what the difference is then as I was under the impression that it couldnt but there must be something, I would be interested to know.
I have one and it works flawlessly for me. I mainly use it in hotels - main difference between this and chromecast is that it doesn't rely on a Wi-Fi signal and having to be on same network as the device you're streaming from. So I hook it to a projector and can watch films I've either downloaded onto my phone or just stream from Prime, knowing I'm not dependent on rubbish hotel Wi-Fi.
This is very poor quality obsolete product ,was ok when there was no 4k . If your laptop /tablet or mobile phone has Displayport or mini Displayport or Thunderbolt, use Displayport to hdmi 2.0 cable . If it has usb C port with Displayport over Usb C Mode ,use usb C to HDMI 2.0 adapter.

Don't know about games. Generally Chromecast mirrors a web page. So you can watch on line things on tv. You can mirror the content of your pc as well. For example, if you have pictures, documents or movies in a folder, you have to copy the address bar where the folder is into the browser and will mirror to the tv.

You don't need to use a web browser for that. You can simply click what you want to mirror - Either Tab or the Desktop. Start the film, put into fullscreen mode and enjoy.
This is a very good product. I used it for a long time and never disappointed. Recommended unless you are projecting 4K
