So go easy!

Went into PC World this afternoon looking for a new keyboard/mouse package.

Spotted this on the shelf at £69.99 and enquired if the slightly older model was cheaper (still the Desktop 6000)

It rang through at £19.97!

I posted the picture of the receipt.

Yer definaley a good deal. I would personally re-name the title to include the word "keyboard" a laser desktop could get quite confusing...

That's product code is "720571", whereas the model the OP got is "650221"

Simplest way to find out if your store has any is just to call and quote the product code.

Looking at the reciept it'll be that price at most nationwide.

This is a very good model, recommended for those on a budget (looking at less than £50 for keyboard and mouse).

Voted HOT.

I'm using them now, very easy to get used to! the mouse especially is fantastic, and I'm back to my typing speed that I can do at work on the dell keyboard, the old belkin keyboard I had was a bit fiddly, but this is great compared with it.

Feels alot like my macbook pro keyboard in terms of 'feel' which is a good thing.

Isn't the one you posted from the PC World website (product code 720571) just for a keyboard on it's own?

Just had a look, yeah it is!

Also, more cold votes without explanations! What is it with these people! That's like shouting at the back of the room with a balaclava on (oi! that's crap) then scurrying off.

Very very good deal, but I am a bit worried about wasting a trip to pc world only to find out my store has no stock...

Give your local store a call mate and quote the model number

Good first post Silverbullet767. we're all learning, there's no perfect

gonna buy good deal

nice find

Great price any chance of finding it on the website so can see if there is stock at my local store (Not that it makes much difference)

I tried that product code on the website but it doesnt come up.

Also at Currys - have been this price for months in Carlisle store.

Great price, but not great review over at … Great price, but not great review over at amazon:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microsoft-Wireless-Laser-Desktop-6000/dp/B000JEIDFG

Reading the reviews I'm slightly hesitant from making an effort in trying to get this keyboard tomorrow.

To the OP or anyone who also has this product could you please comment on the size of the left shift key (one of the repeating gripes in the reviews) and the accuracy? (Is there any lag/failure to register key strokes when typing?)

Thanks!

I've had this keyboard/mouse set for a couple of years now and paid something like £60 at the time. I have had no problems with it at all, both are very responsive, keyboard has loads of customisable media/web/windows keys, mouse is excellent, both have immense battery life (I'm only on second set of batteries now after over 2 years)

Left shift key is rather small but you soon get used to it, it's never cause me any grief anyway.

I'd definately snap one of these up at this price if didnt already have it, in fact I may try and get one for in work anyway!

Could someone who has this keyboard (the OP perhaps) post a pic of the supposed 'tiny' shift key (amazon reviews).
My PB keyboard's left shift key is half the size of the right one, but still larger than a regular key, so I'm used to that particular shortcoming. It would be useful to see how this key compares though (not that there's likely to be any in my local PCWorld anyway)

never mind some amazon reviewers some of them are just some fussy *****.
I have the 5000 version of this keyboard (not laser) and it is marvelous!

If I did not have I would buy one straight away.

Hot

I have this set and do struggle with the keyboard sometimes as some letters do not show from time to time, it has however improved considerably as I moved the receiver closer.

Bargain at this price. Hot

is this ebuyer.com/pro…168

£25 on ebuyer so not that good of a deal.

Also got this keyboard, it was £25 at scan a few weeks back. I like the keyboard as it is quiet, better for late at nite convo so as not to disturb the other half. Still not used to the tiny left shift key though and the massive N! But getting better.

Picture below. It's odd that the OP's pic of the box shows a larger shift key but I cant find any similar keyboard with the same shortcut keys on the left. Weird. Ah sussed it, that picture is off the USA keyboard not the UK one. Over there they dont seem to have the \| key in that position.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_7OzMmzUcgzk/SrQJZCk_PTI/AAAAAAAAC8k/V2mktg6oY4s/2009-09-18%2023-23-15.774.jpg

That is tiny...you'd think someone at microsoft would have said "hang on folks...we've given a bit too much space to this N...maybe we should give some back to the shift key"

I voted hot and gave rep because it is a great price. However, I bought this set ages ago and couldn't live with it - I had to buy a logitech set after 3 weeks because I found both the mouse and the keyboard to be unuseable. I thought I had just chucked them out but last week discovered them in a cupboard and so have put them on the bay to sell.
If you are considering buying. I strongly advise you try out the KB / Mouse first.

69.99 in the Reading store...just got someone to scan it for me, so not at this price in that store.

Just to be aware the one posted is the Desktop 6000 v2, there is a Desktop 6000 v3 as well. So perhaps PCWorld are selling off the v2 to make way for the v3. Just a thought.

Just visited the Northolt branch and all the sets on display are the new barcode number and priced at £69 as on the web site (I checked all the labels and got one scanned).

I think the OP was lucky and found an old model which is mentioned in the original post, this has product code 650221 whereas all the ones in the shop and on ]their web site were code 870418 which is £69.99.

I would call them before going and ask if they have any product 650221 and save a journey. As this product code is not on the web site, there may not be many around.
