Shenmue 2 (original xbox game) looks like its actually about £30 on ebay just checked.
Think i'll just get another dreamcast and burn the cd instead only £35 for a working one
i'd be very worried about the RROD on these models, saying that theres a 12 month warranty plus its 35 quid at the end of the day.
£54.99 for a slim PS3 160gb too (they'll take off the £10 in the basket) plus 3% Quidco at the moment: store.musicmagpie.co.uk/pro…943

9% quidco is 'Magpie media' , i guess consoles would be 'Magpie electronics' which is 3%

Agreed, these are the worst ones to fail. Never mind RROD my drive failed twice and they repaired it. Took weeks to get it back though.

Is there one that is less likely? Something I can look for?

I also got a RROD with my Xbox 360 120GB Elite - the only games console I've ever owned that broke It was just out of warranty, so I replaced it with an Xbox 360 250GB S because I still owned a bunch of Xbox games that I wanted to finish. I never had any problems with it, but the S got a lot less use than the Elite, so it's hard to say whether that saved it from getting a RROD.

The elite didn't come in until the 'falcon' board revision. Still prone to RROD, but nowhere near as common. The majority of elites in the wild will 'jasper' units which don't really get it at all.

It really depends how much a newer "slim" model would cost you. If you only want to play the occasional thing this is a good price, but I had many an issue with these elites and the older models. Only one I have left that hasn't had some sort of issue is an Arcade model. Struggles to read discs but they work eventually if you open and close the tray enough times X)

Absolutely, if you can afford a slim get one, but I doubt there's many of the dodgy boards left out there. I'd imagine you're more likely to get a Jasper at this point by virtue of the failure rate being so much lower.

Very good point - unless the box simply hasn't been used much a dodgy board probably has kicked the bucket before now.
Gotta be worth a punt...does it play Space Invaders?
S0d it - 12 month warranty...
It'll do for IPTV if nothing else

I'm not sure the majority of elites would be jasper, I'd say the majority would be Falcon? As such, I'd stay clear. Jaspers are great, anything before is just trash.
Ideal if you've got sky go extra and cheaper than multiroom too
The only earson I'll buy a 360 console (used) is to play Sensible World Of Soccer! X)
Have people just discovered this website or something ? These prices are about average everywhere else as well, apart from when the had the 10% and 20% discounts on, then they were slightly cheaper.

No, I think jaspers were sold longer all in. We're suggesting that the dodgy falcon boards would have all failed and there'd be even less of them about. Ergo, even more jaspers available.
Refurbished for this price is good! How about the quality of it?
Jasper chip elites should be fine. Had mine for probably about 4-5 years at least and never had a problem. Never had a RROD on my original 360 either, that ended up with a dodgey laser, which i replaced for about £8 and its still going strong.

rumours sega isn looking into a bundle release of 1 and 2 before shenmue 3 is released. i don't think it will happen given the costs and expected sales
Would avoid for streaming; personally I think the older 360s were too loud for the purpose.

Mine's still fine too. Only issue i've had in 8 years is the usb spring flap failing. Managed to DIY fix it.

if the power supply is 150 watts 12.1 amp then you have a Jasper v1 (nov 2008) or v2 (2 sept 2009) and if the dashboard is on less 2.0.7371 or less you can Jtag it or RGH it. I got the Resident Evil Jasper Jtag and been running fine for donkeys.

PS3 is much better for Sky Go - the XBox app is not as complete for some reason.

These not the worst ones to fail - the Xbox 360 was released in 2005; the Elite model wasn't released until 2007 and was discontinued in 2010 when the slim version was released. So the older models, from 2005-07, with the original motherboards (Xenon - no HDMI ports) are more likely to fail. All Elites have HDMI ports, which means they'll have either Zephyr, Falcon or Jasper motherboards, with each one being less likely to fail than the last.

All that said, if an Xbox 360 hasn't had RROD before now, and it's been thoroughly tested, it's probably safe.

Just off the top of my head, I think Zephyrs came in around early-mid 2007, whenever the HDMI port was introduced, as they're basically Xenons with HDMI ports added. Then Falcons came in around mid-late 2007 and Jaspers were late 2008 until the slims came along in mid 2010. There's also the Opus board, which is a Falcon without the HDMI port, designed to fit in old cases to replace Xenon motherboards in refurbished units, so you'll only see those in consoles Microsoft have repaired.

So yes, Jaspers were around for longer, so presumably more were manufactured. You do still see plenty of Falcons but they were nowhere near as bad as the Xenons and presumably the faulty ones have been weeded out after 10 years.

How likely is that? Pretty slim I imagine.

The Zephyr was only a stop-gap board really. I don't think they even had a year in manufacture. They just needed to use all the surplus xenon size chips.
