Nice bit of kit apart from the bags. Bags? Really? In 2016? May be of interest to some 1970/80's enthusiasts....
I have the compact - it is amazing. The power is fantastic, and I have to put the power lower, as I am worried it'll rip up the laminate! Great on the rugs and the carrier, too. I would expect this model to be the same.
can anyone recommend a decent vacuum for upstairs, all carpet, ???? thanks

This is brilliant on carpet!!
paid 139.99 on Tuesday for this, great hoover!
Does this come with a turbo brush?
Awesome price, just bought one. Definitely can not go wrong with Miele.

yes this a great hover. Bags actually make it more powerful then a bagless one.

Any body knows where you can get reasonable replacement bags? Not Meile.
Dyson DC39 or this Miele guys and gals??? Anyone got the experience to make a judgment?

Over the years had both Dyson and Miele...Miele wins hands down everytime for me. We have a Miele thats 17 years old and still works great. All my Dysons are probably in Landfill/Recycled
Ref bags I have bought these and they are grand ebay.co.uk/itm…her vendors and websites are available (To keep the equality police happy)
Sucks harder than a seasoned street worker. First time i used mine i pulled up all the lino in the kitchen! Tremendous power but be careful - it sucks so hard the underlay starts being sucked through in dust and i spend twice as long cleaning the brush head than i do hoovering.
That said, it takes but 10 mins to whizz through the bungalow with this mad power!!

Some people don't like dust leaking Dysons when emptying.

Miele wins hands down. After years of swearing by Dysons, I got a Miele cat and dog vacuum a couple of years ago and have never looked back.

I noticed that wherever I went there was a shop or market stall selling second hand or refurbished Dysons. This is not the case with Miele's as they are built to last 20 years plus.

Incredible vacuum this.

Been bagless for years, but others are right - I had to empty everytime with a bagless or else I'd lose power and it's a horrible messy job as well.

My old Dyson also looked nasty. Like a giant child's toy from the future. And having all your dirt and dust on display isn't the nicest look.

Moved to a Miele and not looked back.

These are built to last, work superbly, and I wouldn't touch a Dyson ever again thank you very much.
Interesting that the newer replacement model for this is actually less powerful at 1200W, so perhaps this 1600W beast was a bit OTT.

What are you on about? Much less hassle with bags. Our Miele is over 10 years old now and is still as good as new. Good luck with your Dyson.
has it been cheaper before?

And you think a Dyson is better?

I bought mine in 1991 (a Miele Silver Star) and it's still going strong, just reserved and collected one of these for my mother and it's an exceptionally powerful machine.
Great deal OP, have some heat ...
How often do the bags need changing on these? Do the bags need changing as often as bagless systems need emptying?
Don't fall for the overpriced hype of a bagless vacuum.

Those who mock bags have never tried a Miele. The suction is immense, even with the bag full it still wants to keep going. The build quality is better than a Dyson, the plastics just feel sturdy and construction more solid. No mess when it needs emptying, which isn't very often. There are cheaper comparable bags if that is your concern but this is offset by the convenience of emptying when full and the high probability the vacuum will last a very long time before coughing up for a new one.

Bargain.

Definitely not, I bought mine months ago and still on the same bag with full power, with my previous bagless vax, it was a nightmare had to keep emptying it, and it was a bigger capacity one as well.

Unfortunately, it depends on personal use, how big your household is and how dusty it gets.

Bagless vacuum cleaners are great if you want less suction than a good quality bagged vacuum cleaner and don't mind dust escaping when you have to frequently empty the thing.

Definitely not. I have 3 dogs and 3 kids - I vacuum at least once per day and the bags need changing about every month. The dust compacts and by the time you need to change the bags they are rock hard. Most people won't need to change as often as me though.
How is this on hard floor? Anyone one if it comes for smaller heads for sofa seats and car etc.. Ta.

I wouldn't use generic bags as they won't have the same quality of seal or air filtration. The bags aren't that expensive when you look at how many you will use over the year anyway.
