Cheaper than Debenhams and Miele (£250) so great saving of £90. Current model as well. Some will be put off by low wattage (700W, 800 with Power Chip) but you needn't very powerful very quiet and superb German build. Mini Turbo Brush for £25.99 is a great addition for stairs and rugs. £50 extra for 10 Year Guarantee. Others will moan about bag and filter costs but it does make emptying quick and clean. Best Value Miele cleaner available in my opinion.

Have you seen the performance ratings for this? Absolutely terrible performance on carpet and hard floor - now is the wrong time to buy a Miele...

obviously not used one then. Miele are advertising this as good as a 2000w vac. Don't forgot 90 day refund if not happy JL guarantee. This is a very good vac indeed.

Dam, got one of these last wk I paid £200 and thought that was cheap.
Fantastic vac. Would recommend

Damn! You beat me to it ;).

The drop in wattage is an EU law, can't do nought about it!

They're still great vacs, build quality is superb. But the performance on the new ones isn't anywhere near as good as the old ones due to the damn eu energy cap.

I bought the Miele S778 last Christmas for £100 from JL. It's so powerful that even on half whack it sucks the lino up off my bathroom floor!

My mum and dad like it so much they now borrow mine instead of using their's. Cheers OP just told my dad about this deal.

Where or where can I get cheap Miele bags?!,love my s6220 cat & fog, but the bags aren't half small!!.

Quick note on extended warranty, I told them as 2yrs were already Inc in the purchase price, surly I was not actually getting 10yrs?. They promptly dropped the £50 down to £30!, hth x

there seems to be some confusion over wattage a motor uses and wattage needed to pick up dust etc. lower wattage motors don't necessarily mean that the vac will pick up less dust.

After 3 dyson's over a 5 year period i'd stick to a miele from now on. Think the dyson business model is based on their servicing arm!!£100 servicing a time to keep their hoovers working imho

Do you have any link so I can read more about this?

my aunt has run a miele for over 20yrs. she swears by it. We've had 4 vacs in that time and 3 of then in the last 10 years. ..
Dyson use cheap plastic that is too brittle and breaks after a few years. never again for me.
my bag less vax lost power too fast.
my Samsung from the cashback deal this year is fantastic for the money. Most powerful I've had.

cheap bags for this?

Somebody found some cheap official bags on a previous deal on eBay. Worked out around £2 each if I recall.

Luckily I bought a 2 kW Miele before the stupid EU rules came in. For about 7 months a year my house needs heating anyway, so the 2 kW is not wasted, rather it just warms the house up like a 2 kW heater.

For those who missed out, I think the way forward is to buy a proper vac next time you go to a non-EU 230V country.
I suppose Norway, Switzerland etc should work fine.

Take a look at these taken from the JL website - all you have to do is scroll down on the page:

Dust Pick-up (Carpet) D
Dust Pick-up (Hardfloor) D
Dust Re-Emission A
Energy Rating Information A

The energy rating and dust re-emission are relatively unimportant... The two important things since the change in EU legislation are the pick up ratings on carpet and hard floor.

I hope that helps you out.

Who were you paying? New Dysons come with a 5 year warranty? That includes free servicing (parts and labour).

Dust readmission is important unless
you don't mind dust coming out of the cleaner once it's sucked up. Energy consumption is also important unless you don't mind paying rising energy bills to supplement your 2,000 watt cleaner. Hard floor and carpet cleaning is rated D but how do they come up with that I had an admittedly quick Google and didn't find anything useful. I don't think you have used one so you cannot comment on whether this is good or bad happy for you to give your thoughts if you have though. Finally this is a deals website the John Lewis price is the best there currently is. I shall dig out some more user reviews on the older model with the same wattage motor soon.

All the "damn eu energy cap" does is protect the public from their own stupidity because they have been duped into believing that watts equals performance when it certainly doesn't.

The energy consumption of a vacuum cleaner doesn't greatly affect an average household energy bill.

A 2KW vacuum uses approximately 30p of electricity per hour.
It takes me about 15 minutes total vacuum on time to do my house.
If I vacuum every week it costs £3.60/year.

The 1.6KW cap brings this down to £2.88.

Big flipping deal.

But that's not the point. If it did, maybe the directives wouldn't be needed because people would demand more efficient appliances.
