One of the best upright vacuum cleaners (better than Dyson).

Very limited stock in Argos but good potential for price-match (price match from Currys take the price down for another £14 to approx £146). On the top of that get advantage of promotional free 10 years parts and labour warranty (worth 30£) for series s7 at miele.co.uk

Which? review:
The upright Miele S 7210 vacuum cleaner has a reach of more than 11 metres, so you can cover a lot of floor space before unplugging, and it comes with some useful attachments including soft brush, stair and gap nozzles. But how well did this upright vacuum cleaner perform when we put it through its paces in our rigorous tests?

Miele's first foray into the upright vacuum cleaner market is a real winner -and a Best Buy. The S 7210 is Miele's entry-level model in the S7 range and its performance is outstanding.

At 9.8kg this is a relatively hefty cleaner, and it might feel a little heavy during use, but thanks to the swivel neck it's very manoeuvrable, and you can lay it flat to the floor to vacuum under low furniture.
Outstanding cleaning on all types of floor

Dust pick-up from carpet, laminate and floorboards is outstanding. The S 7210 is the entry-level model, and is supplied with the basic Super AirClean filter, but we found filtration to be excellent - good news for allergy sufferers. If you want to upgrade your filter later you can use other Miele filters in this vac.

This is a bagged vac, so you will need to buy replacement bags. However, in our carpet tests the suction stayed strong as the bag filled, so you shouldn't have to change it too frequently.
Height adjustable

With a reach of more than 11 metres, you can cover a lot of floor space before unplugging - good for vacuuming large rooms. It has a height-adjustable hose for curtains and stairs. Attachments, including soft brush, stair and gap nozzles, fit neatly to the body of the machine for storage.

It's quick to pick up pet hair, but you will need to clean the brush afterwards. There's a dial on the front of the cleaner to adjust the suction to suit the surface you're vacuuming, and the switch on the handle adjusts the level of the brush so you can easily switch between carpet and hard floors.

Energy consumption is fairly low, and noise levels are average, too.

Pros: Excellent on carpet, laminate and floor boards, good filtration, easy to clean under furniture

Cons: A little heavy

Don't buy into the hype, may be good build quality but doesn't function as well as a Dyson, FACT!

Confidence or build the warranty into the RRP?

Well I feel that is a little unfair, though clearly quality has a cost.

I was referring to the claim Dyson are superior by making the point about warranties. If you check Dyson's RRP (for upright vacuums - exclude clearance models) below you will see that only two are slightly cheaper, two are the same price and five cost more. As they don't have a 10 year warranty then it doesn't seem fair to suggest Miele build the warranty cost in.

There are opinions and facts, I was trying to stick with facts and for the RRP (as you wish to refer to) - most dysons cost more and have a much shorter warranty.
