why are they so expensive compared to others? looks ulgy too
The look isn't unusual for Miele as their products often resemble traditional designs. 5 years parts and labour is probably factored into the price, as is with Dyson vacuum cleaners.

just some trivia about miele as i have never heard of them until a few days ago en.wikipedia.org/wik…ele

Miele (pronounced 'mee-luh') is a German based manufacturer of high-end domestic appliances, commercial equipment and fitted kitchens, based in Gütersloh, Germany. Miele has always been a family-owned and -run company, founded in 1899 by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann.

Rankings for this Best Brands prize are the result of market research covering such key criteria as current economic market success and brand recognition and popularity among consumers. Miele was recognized as Best Company and also achieved a top-five place in the category Best Product Brand. Miele was honored as Best Domestic Appliance Brand in the UK by Which? in 2007 and again in 2008, being only one of two brands to win twice in a row. They have since won again in 2010.

In North America, Miele is marketed as a high-end major appliance brand. They compete against brands such as Kuppersbusch, Gaggenau, Fagor, Viking Range, AEG and Thermador.

Steve Jobs was the owner of a Miele washing machine, and publicly praised the firm's design philosophy.[2]

Really good price. They last a lifetime; so one actually makes a saving on replacing washing machines. Yes, I have a Miele.
Think I have this washing machine. Only ever had a problem with the rubber seal on the door. They came out and replaced free of charge. The engineer recommended running a 90 degree wash once a month or 2 months just to clean grease out of the pipes. Their appliances are some of the best. My friends dad works for them and gets reduced items that are scratched/refurbished, he bought a vacuum cleaner about 10 years ago refurbished and its still going. Uses it daily for cleaning appliances he repairs.
I though I just heard a Bosch Fanboy logout...
You get what you pay for, last forever!
Ours is 12 years old now and has not missed a beat in the whole time we've owned it - it's been heavily used and is still like new. The panels are stove enamelled not just painted and it weighs a ton compared to other washing machines we've owned. We'll never buy another brand of washing machine, if and when this ever dies. And it doesn't look much unlike the one above, despite being older. Function over form, with the added advantage if you add appliances later, they'll still match.
Ours is about 10 years old too. Slight leak from door seal took an adjustment to fix. I was once told that Miele machines are designed to last twice as many washes as standard machines. They are also much quieter than most. The only other brand I 'd consider would be Bosch.
Yes, they're good - but £620!!!! Hoover is one of the worst makes but my last one survived for 12 years. Very happy with my £225 Bosch; don't think the Miele is worth almost 3 times that price.

The Apple of washing machines?
Just want to say Miele are fanastic but there Is no way they would be delivering this product to you! The company will be and as for your council removing washing machines for free- your very lucky as the others charge! Unless u dump urs on the street and are reporting it as fly tipping???

There at lots of good local specialist company's who will price match and deliver quicker plus remove the old : ) so heat for find but would prefer price matching

tell me that in 12 years, thats the year i am onto with my Miele
I have this model no complaints so far, unlike most washing machines that have concrete blocks in the bottom to steady them the miele drum is built in a cast iron cradle and apparently that's why it last so long, mine can with a 10yr parts and labour warrenty.

as my washer has just broke after 3 years & having 3 electricians out to fix it in under 3 weeks, non could recommend a specific brand of washer as faults are becoming rife amongst them all, so opted for this one with the 5yr warranty & has read that they are built to last twice as long as other washers

Thanks for all the comments, I have taken the plunge, and managed to bag a slightly different model (W5780) for £700, inc delivery. Think i will pay the extra to Miele and get the 10 year warranty. It's a big investment for us, so i hope we made the right choice!

Solid...hope you don't mind me asking but where did you purchase the (W5780) for that price from?

Our current washing machine has just packed up and we are looking to invest more than usual in a machine that will hopefully last!
Can't you leave your old washer outside and have the local scrappy horse and cart pick it up?
Our Miele (cheapest basic model at the time) is about 10yrs old, and only needed a new door seal so far.

All these people with their grand washing machines. Lol so dumb! In 12 years I gather the technology will be so far behind. I bought a hot point 4 years ago and it's still mint never missed beat. That cost me 220. When that breaks in another year or two ill flip it in trash and get the latest power efficient model.

All in the mind and being nieve. I bet the same people bought the miele hoover at 280 instead of a Henry hoover at 100........
