I bought one of these a few weeks ago and paid just over a hundred quid more (normal retail price is £179), so at £69.99 this is a bargain. The G5 is a really good reliable system, and this should come with one door sensor, one PIR motion sensor, two remotes, two disarm key fobs and a tamper bracket to place on the desk or mount on the wall. You can add more accessories to the device, and it’s fairly simple to add more and the fact the entire system is wireless makes it a lot easier.

You will need to get a mobile sim card to put in the device to set it up, and if you purchase extra accessories you will be sitting there for an hour trying to read the manual figuring it all out. The benefit of the mobile sim card is it can be placed anywhere in the house, you can control the alarm with the app via your phone and you can hold a two-way conversation. I got myself a GiffGaff sim as you will be sending a lot of texts setting it up and receiving the replies, and the cost of sending a text with GiffGaff is 6p. You could get yourself a cheap contract sim with unlimited text but once it’s all setup you’ll rarely use the app. I’ve only had to use it a few times to arm the system as I forgot once, and to also check the status.

This doesn’t come with an outdoor siren, but you can get one for £50. As it stands the device has a built in siren which is fairly loud, so it’s ideal if you live in a flat.

For £69.99 you can’t go wrong, and there is a less advance version called the A9 which is selling for £39.99. See my other post for details: hotukdeals.com/tag/dea…640

Also if you want the external wireless siren for £49.99, please see this post: hotukdeals.com/tag/dea…647

Enjoy!

Thanks for this.. Just bought one for my new summerhouse/shed. It was either this or the Yale standard alarm. This looks cooler plus I can buy an extra outside siren for the same price. Cheers dude!!

Pleasure! They are selling the siren for £49.99 at the moment: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/miGuard-by-Response-SPS260R-Wirefree-External-Solar-Siren-/151775032582?_trksid=p2054897.l4275

Its a great system, have fun playing with it!

I got one of these from Argos for about this price a few months ago (massively reduced). Its pretty impressive for the price and much better than paying some security firm a subscription or annoying your neighbours with a standard alarm.

I know what you mean about annoying the neighbours. I think in this day and age if people hear a house alarm going off they just ignore it! I did get the siren for the front of the house but use it more as a deterrent, and I set the alarm time for only 30 seconds. I've also got a dummy one for the back which cost £20.

If you are using texts to set up have a look at three mobile or delight mobile as they have the 321 deals. 2p per text.
Three may not be compatible as it i 3g only but delight can do 2g

I had a feeling that would be the case

I bought the G5 plus the alarm box.

This was a great deal and deserved a lot of heat.

Can anyone recommend a sim card to go with this? Thanks.

I got the GiffGaff sim. The best deal would have been 3 but unfortunately it's not compatible with the G5. GiffGaff texts are around 6p each. I did consider getting a cheap monthly contract for £5 a month with lots of texts included, but very rarely do I use my phone now to control the alarm.
