    Minecraft Nintendo Switch Edition is currently available as a download only. If you have already downloaded it you'll be able download this new Minecraft Bedrock Edition AKA "Better Together" free of charge. Bedrock is a new standalone version of the game, and you won't be able to download the original Nintendo Switch Edition any more once it arrives. It's never been available physically on a cart before, so anyone that buys a phyiscal copy automatically gets the later Bedrock Edition.

    Bedrock enables cross-play with PC, Xbox and Mobile (Playstation refuses to play ball), plus access to multiplayer servers and Realms. It also includes the Minecraft Marketplace store, Achievements, and other graphical improvements such as greater draw distance.

    This is correct. Also any gold points you get will not merge, so gold points what you collect on the UK eshop not not merge with gold points collected using the other countrys eshop.

    You can actually create a new Nintendo network id (user account) and set the country to south Africa and have both account available on your switch if you wish.

    I have a UK account ( for my nephew)
    My main account ( which is normally set to south Africa. But I also change it to Norway and russia depending on price( started off as UK)
    And I have a third account which I leave on USA just to look at the dollar prices.

    All games are playable on all user accounts.
    All games are displayed on my purchase history for my main account.

    I know I said south Africa was cheapest, but I may have changed to Russia for this purchase I can't remember, if it was this or or runner 3 which was cheaper in Russia.

    Ok, looks like unlike other Mashup packs, the resources from this can not be applied to any random world. When I tried to create a world Mario Mashup was list as a template and when selecting this the resouce pack was auto applied, however it does not seem like this is randomly generated world but will be the same for everyone.

    Not sure what the idea behind this is as other mashup packs (Skyrim for example) have a seperately selectable resource pack.

    I wanted portable Minecraft for ages, but their mobile version was too fiddly without physical controls. Switch should be fun, though I'm a little tired of the trend of games being ported to other systems and requiring yet another full price purchase.

    According to the packshot on the linked page it says includes "Mario Mashup" so you should be good.

(People who bought it before the changeover will still be able to download the old version, but it won't be updated any more)

    The Download would be better, especially for kids since you don't need to faff on with game carts or the risk of losing them.

    £14.14 if you switch your switch to south Africa and download, other countries maybe cheaper. But I just keep mine on the south African eshop now.

    It will automatically upgrade, yes. This version is a new version that allows you to create and play worlds with players on the PC, XBOX One and Mobile instead of just the Switch. It also has "infinite" sized worlds so players will never run out of things to explore in their favourite world. It will also get all future new Minecraft features that will be skipped by the old version, such as the upcoming "Update Aquatic" which adds creatures and new structures to the oceans in the game. The digital only version that you can get now won't be developed further and is much more limited. Getting digital or physical is down to preference really. It isn't a very large game, so it won't use too much storage space up on the Switch, and therefore my preference is to have the download version so I don't have to keep the cartridge with me to play it.

    Heat for the deal. But just a reminder that you cannot play two player on this using two joy-cons. Playing this game requires both joy-cons. It makes sense, but it seems like such a shame to me as I was looking forward to playing Minecraft on the go and having people dive into my world whenever.

    I am going for cartridges with the switch. I forsee a time when the switch is re-released as a much smaller portable system. At that point, member of my family will want one each. By having a cartridge I get to avoid buying four copies of everything.

    PlayStation won't merge online platforms, so I doubt they'd have a better together version of Minecraft, and it's also the reason you won't get Roblox on the PS4 any time soon too.

    I really hope it's not just a buggy moneygrab like the Xbox one version ended up being... None of the purchases from the old Xbox one version transferred to the new one.

    It sounds like this one might give them a bit more variety seeing as it comes with the Mario stuff, and maybe more as well?

    So this just arrived today, I've installed and downloaded the update but the Mario Mashup resource back is not showing up. The player skins are available but the actual resource pack to theme the world is not appearing on the list?

    Says on the box "Includes: Super Mario Mash-up and more" I've checked the eShop and the in game store but can't see it listed.

    Not listed in the available packs if I go into settings > global resources.

    Just noticed this full text from the back of the pack:

    "INCLUDES Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, Natural Texture Pack, Biome Settlers Skin Pack, Battle and Beasts Skin Pack and Campfire Tales Skin Pack. Download Required"

    If I go to the ingame shop and click inventory all of those are listed except the Mario Mashup
