WARNING: very addictive! :-)

Do not let your children see this ... my son started playing this about a year ago and I've hardly seen him since!!

classic is pointless .....pay for the full thing or don't play it at all.

no updates about 1/2 the blocks etc.

if you want to try it for an idea yeh fair enough but it's worth buying the full game rather than this

My son is exactly the same...he searches You Tube all day looking for ideas!

Yeah I agree

My 10 year old loves this, addictive :-(

Keeps the kids in the Dungeon busy.

omg EPIC

Why is this hot? It's such an old game and pretty much everyone knows about it.

The classic version has always been free on the Minecraft website, it's touted as a demo for the game but so much development has taken place on the full game now that it is only superficially similar, the classic version is still fun to play but the full game has many more blocks and features.

Cold, this has been around for ages, is very well known, and is nothing like the full version of the game.

There will in fact be a demo of the proper game released very soon so if anyone's keen on trying it they should hang on for a bit.

I don't see what's so good about Minecraft....it's just building and crafting stuff and surviving for as long as you can right?

Its down to the popular phrase, its what you make out of it - and in this games case, quite literally.

This has been free for ages....

should have posted it then to let others know

Best game ever. Me and kids play together on a server and build all sorts. Worth paying for the full thing if you have the money. But even the classic version is awesome. Warning, highly addictive!

classic maybe boring but the full game is fun and addictive for people that have enough imagination

You should have shared the deal 2.5 years ago HUKD has been around for over 5 years my original account is about 4 years old.

Its simple as this folks this is the freebie section of the forum its handy for those who want to try things for free not a "Demo" per say but an older version will give you an idea of the newer version, ok ok xbox just released minecraft but their running Version 1.6.6 when the pc version is 1.8, but yet reguardless its a cool game and its Free so telling people to buy the full version is pointless in a free section, Farmville on facebook is free, everyone knows that reguardless of how long its been out but until people get told about it no one knows about it, GTA 1 and 2 have been free for many years now yet no one complained when someone posted the deal recently.

the point is its great fun for 0 cost and its not a DEMO its a Freebie Full Game and its called the classic version its not called the most upto date version

The full version for PC is at 1.2.5 full release, not 1.8 beta.

The classic version fails, and is only good for online use with friends - other than that, you get creative mode and survival if you simply purchase the game.

Ok fair du's full version is 1.2.5 i didnt relise that its not the 1.8 beta however the xbox version is 1.6.6 so this is just a free gam to play for fun.

Yes if you simply purchase the game i understand you would get all the extras but then it wouldn't be free for people who don't want to spend or want to get a brief idea of the game or just want a free game to kill some time that's addictive, its a like how people play farmville on facebook its free however if they want the better stuff they have to pay.

Im not denying either that paid version aint better, i minecraft for the xbox 360 which is about to see 2 updates this summer first will be in couple of weeks bringing it up to 1.7beta then at the end of july its the 1.7.3 beta updates, however till then the game has alot of bugs and can sometimes make it unplayable.

Reguardless its a Freebie which requires 0 Spend, it's not a demo and it doesn't have a time restricted of playing the game either like some sites do it doesnt have that you can only get so far before it forces you to buy the full game etc its just a general freebie.

But meh ive said my part either way its FREE which is the main point which is why i posted it and it hadn't been posted before so people who didn't know about it before do now, instead of saying of how poor it is etc you could be saying how minecraft is for you and your experince if you find its a good game or not, but it all had to start somewhere a bit like grand theft autos they started with very poor quality and led up to better.

I've got the full version but it just can't get enthused as I do with games taht have more of a focus on the actual game. (if that makes sense)

Infact, I wouldn't describe this as a game at all, more a 16 bit landscaping tool.

If you create your own server, add tons of plugins and have a group of your friends playing it's one of the best games around on PC. The 360 one is completely pointless, lacks a lot of functionality and really is just for console noobs to pretend they can Minecraft.

Excuse me "console noobs" anyone can play minecraft those who play it addicted would be doing just as good if the game they paid for was the full version instead of the unstable beta and they didnt even give the recent beta they started at the begining so it's harder for people to do the same however there's one problem with the Xbox version, Minecraft supports mods to make it more enjoyable problem is Xbox's TOS states any modifications to game or creators content will result in xbox ban, so they released a game that welcomes mods on a non mod allowed platform, but if they had of just given full version rather than a beta the console people would have something better to work with.

Plus the only console Minecraft will be on is Xbox due to notch signing an agreement which rules out the game being available on any other console, but you have to remember no one starts a game as a pro everyone starts at a noob level reguardless.

You misunderstood what I meant by console noobs. I meant it in the sense that this game can run on my mum's P4 computer that has a 8400GS graphics card perfectly, so the only real reason to buy it on console is for "Achievements" which is like the only thing a lot of console players care about. The Xbox version has no server support, so you can only play direct connection, a controller is not better than a keyboard and mouse on this game (and no, that isn't just my opinion it's a fact, the same way that Super Meat Boy is better with a controller) It's also behind the PC version on the updates too. You will actually find that Minecraft itself doesn't support mods on the PC side, you actually have to modify your game client for single player mods - it's the server mods that matter, and as it doesn't support servers anyway it means even if you could get mods it would only be the lame single player ones. My server has an economy, dragons you can fly on, MMO abilities, Locks so you can lock chests/doors + Spout which gives you a compass + map on your HUD, custom blocks and entities like Iron, gold and diamond furnaces, and that is just naming a few (35 running on server atm.)

I'd advise anyone to torrent a copy of the full PC version 1.2.5 and see how it runs - you'd be suprised at how little this game requires (It mainly uses RAM) and if it does work just buy the PC one. You will get a lot more out of the game.

Fair du's well i'm a pc gamer although my rigs got a bit out dated i didnt buy the xbox for achievements however i bought it for playing with my other friends online although achievements are just like a goal to get somethings done some people buy a game get the achievements and never play the game again, my girlfriends son has the pc version but just got the xbox version too i got the xbox version and now me and my girlfriend play it non stop lol and we have all the achievements we had them since the first couple of days however saying that its cool to be able to get your friends who have an xbox and not a pc to play with and in the same way its the platform thats easier to see what games your friends playing when their up for some gaming.

As reguards torrent downloading it was my understanding that you had to pay for minecraft pc version i understand how torrents work and what not but i guess you would have to register a name to play with and be registered through a system unless its all patched and key gened or something?
