It is a tiny pc which works well for web browsing, youtube, netflix, email, microsoft office etc.

I have posted this because I want people to realise that you do not have to spend £100s on a pc just to do the things that most people want from a pc. Also, this is small and this may be something that affects your choice of pc, particularly if you are not looking for a bulky desktop or laptop.

The "family computer" is an imac. I wanted something for me to use which did not take up too much space on the desk and was not too expensive. (I did however treat myself to a good quality 27 inch monitor)

The family now sneak into my study to use my computer !!!!!!!!

Comes with a bracket to fit it to the back of your monitor / tv but also looks good on your desk under the monitor.

I have not tried games on it but have seen youtube reviews with games being played on it.

Mini PC Beelink J45 - Black 8GB + 128GB

I bought mine from Amazon when it was on offer for £220. Click on this link to look at the specifications and the 4.5 out of 5 star reviews.

This is available from gearbest (yes, I do know that the reviews on gearbest are variable on this website) for only £157.

You can easily install an additional ssd into the case simply by undoing 4 screws and plugging in the new ssd.

For me, 128gb is fine but they also sell the 256gb for £196 and 512gb for £228 if you need a bigger hard drive.

It comes with windows 10 Professional installed.

Awful CPU...

If you want to spend a lot of money for a ferrari then that it your choice.

If you want a car just to get to and from work (like a lot of us) then that is a choice that others may make.

For someone who uses a pc for web-browsing, word, netflix etc, then this is more than good enough.

Also, it is not just about the cpu. Having 8gb of RAM and an SSD make a huge difference.

Ultimately it is your choice, but I was pleased with this item (I am using it to type this post) even at the £220 amazon price.

Like you, I was a bit worried about whether this would be good enough for normal use at home. I bought from Amazon with the intention of sending it back if it was no good. It works well and I have kept it.

For some-one wanting a pc for about £150, then this is a really good purchase. - as confirmed by the review links in my post.

I swear HotUk is getting weird, the above conversation honestly sounds like;

Op: Hey guys I found an awesome 32 inch TV for this much.

Everyone else: Yeah but this 42 is better in every way and cheaper.

Op: Yeah but the whole point is that this is a 32 inch TV which is what I need and I posted because there might be others needing similar.

Heat from me OP.

You can get a laptop that does more than that and comes with everything for a similar price with awful cpus from AMD that will be even faster than this and also come with same memory and ssd... For like just £40 more usually... This CPU is less than 50% of what an i3 from 6th generation is... It is horrible.
I think Amazon had a 4gb version of this not long ago for £110. Not sure that £158 is particularly good value

Personally, I find desktops easier to work on than laptops.

When I purchased this, I did it with the intention of having a computer with a larger screen and a good keyboard/mouse which were separate to the computer itself.

Also, if you buy a good keyboard, mouse and monitor now, you can still use them in 10 years time when other technology has gone out of date, so you just have to change the pc unit.

For me, it works well and it was a good price, although I accept that it may not suit lovers of ferrari and laptops.

I think you’re overreacting, I was just saying that it’s not a good deal as the CPU is ridiculous. But nvm.

I'm not sure that really makes sense. The point was that you could get a laptop with more power than this, which if true, makes it a better idea in almost every use case, because you can just connect a keyboard and mouse and external monitor to that, as well as have the option of portability. There are also laptops that are as upgradeable as this box too.

The only advantage of this box is that it can be screwed on to the back of a monitor and therefore hidden away.

Question really is whether you can get an equivalently powerful laptop for £158.

I think you have not tried this pc and therefore are judging on your opinion of the processor alone, not on the whole product running with the 8gb memory and the ssd drive.

As the reviews state, and I can confirm as someone who has used this, it works well for general use.

I was skeptical too about this, but was pleasantly surprised.

It is like the eat well for less tv program. You can get a cheaper product which works just as well.

These mini-pc are great for HTPC/NAS/Web scurfing .. small and low power (greta) .. I have similar but had to spend extra to get 8Gb of ram (from 4gb) . The CPU if fine for low intensity tasks /Runs plex .. Uk plug , extra bonus points. BUT surely you have to factor in import duties which will apply unless you change your name to "Personal Gift" . Not sure about playing games on them , unless its minesweeper or TF2.
"Question really is whether you can get an equivalently powerful laptop for £158." no you cannot , more money every time.
Post reads like a sales pitch.

You might aswell just get a notebook or tablet and just hook it up via HDMI to TV...

Kinda pointless buying a pc but only using it to web browse and odd Microsoft word.
Niche product, it’s basically a non-Intel NUC. That CPU isn’t great but it’s fine for basic stuff and consumes next to no power - not for me but it’s a good little machine for most people.

That said, if you’re going to try and game on it, don’t even bother!

It just shows how some people buy on what their use to or is more expensive so must be better. If it makes some buy cheaper and like it ,makes the point of the show, or is it that not all have common sense?
OP has posted a product that met his/her needs and is great value.
Heated with thanks.

I have a mac mini and I totally get the form factor. Like the OP, these types of PC serve a purpose. I've been looking at replacing my mid 2011 mini but I haven't found what I'm looking for yet. My mini is still going ok (after, a RAM and SSD upgrade). I'd need a bit more power than this Beelink, but it's very tempting.
A serious question : this or a raspberry pi for a simple HtPC.
Let me detail. I currently have an android box (bought for like 30 pounds) for the kids to watch YouTube videos.
That box is now old and no brand and currently YouTube is not supported (the new app is not the same as before.).
It seems very hit or miss to update the box to a new android.

Now I can always buy a new android box...
But I can build an HtPC with raspberry pi or use this mini pc.

Raspberry pi is nice but I find the whole buy parts etc honerous, plus all the reading of the guides.
Maybe this one is easier and comes with casing etc.

Any advice?

Yes, I get the premise of the show. I'm just pointing out that I can't believe people can't tell what real Heinz ketchup is. There's nothing like it.
If you are a gamer, occasional or otherwise, you wouldn't touch it. That is not an argument. Most people do basic office stuff, at best, store family photos they never look at twice until they are out of space.. and shop around for PC's of specs they'll never come close to needing or using, while being BS'ed by staff at Comet: "You need an i5 minimum, but only Win10 S version blah blah"..
Most people I know idle away the hours surfing the internet, and shopping. YouTube maybe, when totally bored.
This low energy device is all most folk actually need as a simple home computer. With a large external hard drive.

You describe a 2.2K benchmark CPU as ridiculous and 25% more money as similar, then accuse others of overreacting - classic HUKD comedy gold!

IMHO this represents decent value - if it was from a UK seller or maybe £25 to 30 cheaper, I'd say it was excellent value. I wonder if it may improve a little on price on 11/11 or BF.
I personally would rather buy a used PC for the same price with for instance an i5 Haswell CPU and a real SSD.

Pros are that it would have more horsepower and so keep up with light usage for longer, it would have upgradable memory and storage, plus you could fit an actual SSD rather than the eMMC masquerading as an SSD here (eMMC can at best equal a SATA SSD and or at worst barely outpace a HDD).

Cons are that it's bigger and consumes more power. It can however be put under the desk and the power consumption difference will under reasonable use cost about a tenner extra a year so isn't really worth thinking about.
Cold from me...for this price you can buy: a.laptop b.used optiplex c.new pc based on Athlon 200ge. Imo option c being best so far as giving you chance to upgrade in the future
These things look like a complete waste of time. You'll spend more time messing around with it than watching anything on it.

I note your opinion, but you do not have any evidence to support your comment. For the benefit of people such as yourself, I had posted this because some people don't believe that £150 will buy a pc of any functional value.

Based upon my personal experience of using this and also based upon the benchmark tests (The link is in my original post, but for the sake of convenience, you can click here) it works fine with video streaming from Amazon Prime, Netflix and youtube.

With regard to the other comments on here, I posted this item because I was pleased with this purchase and had found it at an even cheaper price then I paid, which may help other hotukdeal readers.

I am pleased that it has provoked some discussion and like most hotukdeal posts, a lot of people will benefit from the information in the comments.

Yes, you could buy a second hand laptop /pc and this comment could be made for any item posted on hotukdeals. Second hand will always be cheaper than new. You may also end up with a bulky unit under your desk intruding in your leg space. For me, having a tiny unit on my desk with easy to access usb ports is really helpful.

Horses for courses, - Yes, you could buy a laptop instead, but if you want a tidy workspace on your desk and use a proper keyboard, mouse and monitor then this may be a better option.

With regard to "I think I may have seen one once for less money but 4GB" and "I just bought a x250 for £140", could you please post these deals on this website so that others can benefit too. Also, if you are looking at 4gb memory pc, then this will slow your computer down with windows 10, so a 8gb machine like this is a better option. (Please see one of the other posts in this thread where someone confirms that they had to buy more ram.)

For those considering an imac mini, this is a cheaper windows alternative.

For the high level gamers, yes, you will need to spend more money on a gaming pc or you could buy this for non-gaming and buy a ps4 or xbox with a load of games.

Thankyou to everyone for taking time to comment on this post.

Please can you post this deal online so that it helps others and please put the money that you have saved into the swear box.

It is also £32 more expensive. As with anything to do with technology, the more you pay the more you get.

Your profile shows that you have judged over 1000 items but have only managed to post 2 deals, with one scoring 78 degrees and the other scoring 230, so this would really help your profile.
