great deal, normally around £2- £3 for the kits and £4 up for the plant, good to have around in the summer months when windows are open etc. Hot!

I tried one of these out ages ago. You get a sachet of seeds, a pot, and a ring of compost. Nothing came of mine, I think it must have been due to the ring of compost, as it was pretty dried out. If you have a bag of compost in your garden, I recommend using that instead. Good deal though.

You have to strictly make sure you use sphagnum moss peat with no additives ie plant food also only water with rain water collected from a clean bucket do-not use water from a storm drain or down pipe as they will be contaminated with minerals etc inc. lime from roof tiles etc or use boiled tap water cooled but even that may contain minerals/lime in certain hard water areas etc, attention to detail is really important to be successful with these plants!

My understanding that propagating Venus Fly Trap from seed was really hard. According to this "After about 100 days, Venus Fly Trap seed viability begins to decrease." I would just buy a plant.

I think I'll stick with a rolled-up newspaper.

Fly spray works for me and also £1 (_;)

Do Poundland also sell the flies?

I got a plant a few years ago and it didn't catch anything .... ever!

I got bored of waiting and just got rid of it .. LoL

virtually impossible to grow at home from seed, I would avoid personally

Cool time for a visit to squidworld.

Mini Venus Fly Trap = Earth Flea Trap?

This would take ages to grow

I think so, they normally have them in the window.

Better off with those plastic splatters that the pound shops sell from time to time.

I've heard that it's fun to feed them burger. I was told that by an American so I can be sure of the credibility.

I've had plenty in the past - buy fully fledged ones from a garden centre each spring/summer for about £3. They are hard to even keep alive net alone grow from a seed! This climate is not meant for them

Do that for too long and soon all the shetland ponies in the vicinity will start to disappear.

yes - raw minced meat, but as these are 'mini', I don't think they're going to be the 'fun' type.....be lucky if you can get them to clamp on a fruit fly

(oh, just saw it's seeds you're getting. hardly worth it, imo - you'd be better off paying £3-5 for a mature potted plant, which will be able to digest house flies and minced. a word of caution, don't go to wild with the big stuff, as you can over-feed them. then they turn black )

You need to be careful as these can grow to some size

I've been growing fly traps and carnivorous plants for a few years now, started out with something similar to this which of course never grew. From experience these seed kits rarely work as the seed has been on the shelf too long, venus flytrap seeds especially are supposed to be refrigerated until your ready for planting. So any chance of these actually growing has long gone, if you do manage to grow one from this kit then you have green fingers ! Personally id save your money and buy a full plant off ebay or elsewhere, just make sure you pick a good one if your getting one from a store as they dont particularly look after them. In a few years you'll have your own seeds to plant :-).

I started my empire with these, selling the seeds I produced. Poundworld buys them from me. So I can only recommend them!

Thanks for the heads up, great advice as I have one and am tired of chasing flies around the garden to feed it on.Have you any idea of their favourite type of burger, do they prefer the buns seeded and with or without gherkins etc?

I think when they get that big it is best to set them free to take over the world.

What a surprise, something at PoundLand costs a pound.

yes they do as they sell joke sets with bugs and flys lol

Heat added. I bought this for my father in law who is visiting from India. With the hot climate and breeding Mosquitos in the stagnant water the fly trap should have a field day!
