Decent for a few months, had 3 of these they all suffer from the winding posts snapping off in a short space of time. The plastics deteriorate and breaks unfortunately

Same here, I think it's a must to take them inside during the winter as the cold isn't probably helping

Yep, we always have to use them based on the distance and we also retract the cables during winter.
It was only last week when Mrs QSECOFR went to put some washing out she noticed one of the platic lugs snapped off.
They lift off the wall bracket for easy storage in winter. Mine is now over 10 years old.

You beat me to it:-
Dreyfus: MINKEY??? You said MINKEY!!!
Clouseau: Yes... a Chimpanzee Minkey

I was shocked when Mrs. Loathecliff recently purchased a Minky badged ironing board cover.
She hardly ever irons anything.

Ha ha same here in Cumbria .I feel your pain fella
Mine lasted about 3 months during summer months before one side snapping too. I only had them out about 4 metres too.

I wrapped the line around the whole unit which made it look terrible but at least it held then. Moved house since and left it at my old house. Won't be buying again.

Make sure you carry the link back don’t let it snap back that’s how they break.

Really sorry to hear, they look like you can replace the line

I brought mine from Amazon 2014 according to the link, still going strong. I retract over winter, use a line prop half way, still going strong. I had end hooks many years ago the past but replaced it with a bolt through the pole -on the other side and takes both lines either side of the bolt, not yet broken but I do expect the plastic ends to break sooner or later
I’ve been using retractable clothes lines for decades. Don’t bother with any of them, this is what you need. Almost exactly the same effort as the retractable ones (actually less, if you’re going to have the hassle of taking the retractable off in the winter or use a support) and without any of the fiddly bits that inevitably break. I’ve had this one for must be going on four years, which is longer than any retractable I’ve had.

Lol. Fine if you're happy to have a clothes line permanently across your garden or sitting in a pile on the floor

Do you get commission for trying to sell these or something. Let people have their opinion, its supposed to be a community and people are just trying to let others know what works for them.
