Be surprised if it arrives, but gotta be in it to win it.
Which is better - this Mio or the Nextbase Ride - I know the latter is more expensive but it would be for a gift so not bothered about that.

I can't past judgement on this as I don't own it (yet).
I do have a Mio dash cam in my car that has lasted years and still as good as the day I bought it. Simple yet affective with its features and also can be used to take photos.
I would hope the quality would be atleast on par.
Great for videoing yourself weaving dangerously in/out/around moving traffic and breaking the speed limit all the time.

We don't all ride irresponsibly you know. You need to far more aware and ride as if other road users think they're the only ones on the road.

Tale of woe.... a mate was killed on a motorcycle, not his fault... and old lad pulled in front of him.... the police didn't arrest the drivier, instead the arrested his 2 other mates that had ridden ahead!.... This is true!.... they then failed to prosecute the old guy for the lads death, however, they used the footage from the dead lads bike cam to prosecute the other 2 for driving recklessly... you can't make it up!

Very true indeed. Sadly, too many motorcycle and bicycle riders prioritize 'getting ahead' before their own safety on the road. I knew my comment would attract negative attention from two wheeled road users who think the highway code is for everybody else.

And the highway code makes it clear that riding between lanes is quite legal. Changing lanes without looking however, is not, regardless of how fast the other vehicle may be travelling at.

Filtering between lanes of stationary or SLOW moving traffic is permitted WHERE SAFE to do so. What riders seem to ignore is that the traffic approaching in the opposite direction may be moving at 30mph+ even when the lane in their own forward direction is stationary. Filtering with a closing speed of 60mph on a busy high street with all the associated potential hazards is NOT safe.

Because this describes the behaviour of all riders right? I think riders understand far more than you give them credit for, and believe it or not, may even have more experience in such behaviours than you.

There are crap riders who put themselves and others at risk.
There are also crap drivers who put others and sometimes themselves at risk.
And you missed out the crap pedestrians who walk into/through slow moving/queuing traffic without even looking, cross over pelican crossings against the red man, don't look when crossing at junctions, etc. A filtering two wheel road user could quite easily seriously injure such idiots.

It's perfectly possible for highway users to act dangerously and be prosecuted whilst still fully compliant with the highway code.

bilbob, I don't intend to tar all two wheel users with the same brush by any means. I think we probably agree more than we disagree. I would just like to see all road users and pedestrians acting a bit more responsibly than I see on a day to day basis, instead of acting like 'road warriors'.
