Was never a fan of Mission , but cant ignore the fact that you get floorstanding speaker from a known HIFI brand for £149 . WhatHiFi gave it 5 stars when they tested them @ £350 and were impressed with the value they offer so I guess at less then half the price they are a bit of a bargain.
Richer Sounds are known for releasing bargains like this every now and then , but are mostly instore which is not very practical for most of us with these you get them delivered for free. At almost 20kg each the build quality should be quite good , there is also 6 years warranty included for a piece of mind. Getting them that cheap also means that depreciation shouldnt be a big issue if you decide to sell them after a few years of use.

Had mine for about 5 years and they are still great, tempting to buy 2 more and create a 5.1
Great bargain! I had Mission M73's a few years back I got second hand. Even though they were old they played great and a massive step up from the all-in-one Panny surround system I had.

They were just a bit too big and boomy for the room I had. About 10 x 10 feet. They work better away from a wall.

Looking for active bookshelf style speakers now.

I do not know what current Mission speakers are like now they are designed here and assembled in China, although theoretically that should not affect quality, but I have been a fan of Mission speakers for a number of years. Have V61s as fronts and the V6C as centre with M5DS as surrounds in the lounge and M71i's as fronts and M3C1 centre in the bedroom.
Can they be used as front speakers in a 5.1 system ?

Match with either the MXC1 (100mm cone) or MXC2 (130mm Cone) centre speaker, if you were going for the larger coned (165mm) MX4's then I would say do not even look at the MXC1 as you want decent balance with your front speakers.

Ideally you should match front and centres from the same manufacturer, if price dictates however, ensure you are looking at between 100-130mm cones for balance.
I currently have the centre and front speakers below the tv. I want to move the front speakers further apart and leave the centre under the TV. I'm limited for height though under the tv. I guess unless mission do a low height speaker I have a problem?

Tempted they remind me of my 702e's I used to annoy my parents next door neighbors with in my youth.

Guess it depends on the height of your tv and if anything already is above your tv. You could have these two front floorstanding MX3i speakers either side of your tv and consider [Btech BT15] brackets and have wall mounted the centre above your tv...an option but without knowing your current lounge layout I don't know.

I've just told the wife I'm off out to drink lots of beer responsibly. Best wait before I mention the new speakers :P
This is so tempting!!! Moving house soon and have a man cave/cinema room to play with. Have bought 75% of the setup (with a lot of help from HUKD!!) - Optoma HD141x projector, Sony STRDH550 AV receiver, 2 x Dali Zensor 1 front speakers, Dali Zensor Vokal centre speaker, and bought an open box bargain pioneer S-HS100 full 5.1 set to get me by with a sub and a satellites for rears (with the spare centre & fronts for another room) until I get the budget signed off by the boss
A great speaker if you are just getting into hifi or on a budget. Good find OP.

So jelly
I know essentially nothing about sound setup (for home cinema/gaming). After I've got my dream TV (55" 4K OLED) this will be the next step.

Forgive the stupid questions but... presumably these need an amp to drive them? And a sub? If I were going 2.1 to start with would these do with a decent amp?

Is there a good source of advice on home sound systems for beginners (other than the collective HUKD wisdom)?

Didn't realise there's a character limit...??

Was also meant to say that if these are as good as suggested might get these as fronts, Zensors 1's as rears and then just got to look out for deal on the Dali Sub....??

Any advice? Would this fit in well with that setup? I'm no expert so need an audiophiles opinion!

An amp (AV receiver) would be needed to make the most of them but there are plenty of bargains available. If I was you and working on a budget, these plus a decent centre speaker would be the best way to start and then add a sub when a bargain comes up or you have the money available. Then add the rears and you have your full 5.1!

IMO the best thing you can do is book in with either sounds and go through the setup in their demo room but try not to get too carried away and spend a fortune like i did!!!

Sounds like it's been a while since you listened to that song too mate.
Now I do love audio, although haven't a clue about home audio, what sort of amp would be needed for this?

Most products are assembled in poorer areas of the world like India, China, Mexico and Coventry. if the R and D is done by decent people and the components are decent quality it's all good. They come with a six year warranty!
I wonder what cheap amp you can get to work with these... Any suggestions

I wouldn't really recommend it though.

If you need stereo, something like

Why not recommend the first one(lepy).. Price is tempting.. I understand it may not be the best or even decent judging from the price but anything to say about it???
I replaced my old Mission series 7 fronts with a pair of MX-5 speakers. Excellent speakers

I recommend Mission.
If your looking for bass these are no good unless you add a sub.
I have an old Nikko analogue amplifier that outputs 55 watts per channel into 8Ω, would that be powerful enough to get decent sound out of these speakers?
