Good for you my dear.

Nasty Nasty Company? I have been with TalkTalk for about 10 years now, Tv, Broadband, Phone and 3 mobiles.... I have been with them because they have always been the cheapest. I have never had a serious problem with them and in my experience with these companies is they are all Nasty Nasty moneygrabbing, so I would say no different to the rest........

uk3g

This deal has been around for a while now and really is a no brainer if you can get a Vodafone signal where you live. The network is very poor in London where I am but as said previously, if you use the cashback route, then the deal is even sweeter. Just remember that the cashback is not guaranteed and I've found Topcashback to be a quicker payer in terms of TalkTalk than Quidco

deleted1291883

nasty nasty company I won't sign up even it was free, you won't have roaming for first few months even for Europe, you will be charged for to 07 numbers, you are not allowed to transfer ownership of the contract. the list goes on

Gollywood

People been hearing this for over a year. I didnt take it serious then, less so now. Only if & when it happens

centurion

I am with talktalk mobile and get a good network coverage(vodaphone) in south cumbria. i have one sim for me one for my son and a free sim with my plustv. Every year i get cashback for each sim thru quidco or topcashback and every time it tracks without problem.

hildgerogden555

I heard they were switching networks from Vodafone to piggybacking O2 instead. Wonder if this has happened yet and the 3g signal is any better?

pasheast

Be wary -- I'm an existing TT broadband/phone customer and I tried to get this deal for my son 3 months ago, going through quidco. Attempting to sign up online, I got only so far and then down came an alert telling me that I would have to complete the transaction by phoning TT directly. Knowing that this was likely to invalidate the cashback terms of completing the transaction online, I did not do so but I was prevented from going any further online. I tried again later starting from quidco again and the same thing happened. I tried several times in all with the same outcome -- though with different reasons given for requiring me to complete over the phone. In the end I gave in and finalised the online transaction by phoning the number given. I demanded to know why I was not permitted to complete online and then asked to speak to the line manager, who prevaricated too. Of course the transaction was recorded as not being completed through quidco and I didn't get any cashback.

Abyssmal internet speed. Going to be moving now our contract is up. The same can be said for anything piggybacking on Vodafone as their network is super-saturated.

been with them 2nd year running and not had any issues with signal internet can be a bit slow sometimes but at the price not enough to complain about

^^^ This. It doesn't affect your mobile contract as long as you have one when you take the contract out

I moved my broadband / landline from TalkTalk to Plusnet part way through my 12 month TalkTalk mobile contract with no problem.

No idea on the specifics, only noticed this when logging into my account and thought, on the face of it, sounded quite good. I believe that Talktalk are changing from Vodafone to o2 shortly as well.

Both myself and my wife have talktalk mobiles as one of the advantages is we can call mobile to mobile/home in any combination without touching the tariff minutes which is a huge benefit when I work away. It really does depend on where you live mines fine loads up the same as when I was on T mobile. better than when I was on ovivo which was horrible barely loaded up but not one to complain on an almost free SIM.

The data speed is horrendous it's ok If you want reception but the data is terrible

I took out a 30 day sim only contract with TalkTalk in January, it's £11.75 a month for 1,000 mins, unlimited texts and 3gb of data. Not had a problem with their customer services, only contacted them once to request a nano sim and it arrived within 48 hours. Quidco were offering £60 for new sim only contracts and I received it earlier this month. With regard to data limits, there are apps that will monitor your data usage and switch it off when you get close to your limit.

they will put a £1 limit as the lowest as that's what I have but you have to really push them for it just say you know others who do have a £1 limit. also that limit applies across all your sims with talk talk so if one person goes over it affects all of you. even if the others have plenty of minutes remaining they won't be able to use their phone until you pay of the over usage.

abed93

thanks how do I got about doing this?

Yes they can limit but the lowest they will do is £5 calls/charges over your monthly contract... they wont reduce it to zero. HTH

First bill has arrived stating 50% discount (£7:50 as advertised) but only taking 33% off the tariff, meaning that the monthly bill is £10:05. I'm going to guess this 'glitch' is happening to quite a few people so it's worth getting the bills adjusted by TalkTalk (you may need to talk them through the difficult concept that 50% of £15 is not the same as 33% of £15).

How would you suggest I word it that makes perfect sense? We all could have different perceptions, but the underlying fact is that it works out to be free. How you may say? Because you’re neither in profit or loss. With your theory it would be comparable to receiving no Cashback at all. But this isn’t the case, BECAUSE you’re not paying anything that you’re not going to get back. Yes, you may need to pay the monthly settlements with your own money, but if you take into consideration that you’ll be receiving all of what you’re dishing out, it makes the investment worthwhile. Stop going round in circles, if you dislike Cashback deals, so be it. If you’re tight on money, pay a couple of months before the Cashback is paid out and then add the remaining funds into your account. Cashback deals don’t work in the sense you get it beforehand, it’s there to cover your expenses after the deals gone through. It requires going through a process, otherwise there’d be no need in waiting or going through a third-party, this is a BUSINESS. Everything is flawed in some ways to the consumer; you got to live with it. I wrote "effectively" FREE. I hope you understood what is meant by that.

HankHandsome

"This guy" wants nothing of the sort. All i'm doing is pointing out the fallacy of using Quidco to make something "effectively free". Most people, myself included, would likely just use the Quidco cashback for some kind of random purchase or for beer money on a night out. It leaves you still paying the monthly fee of whatever the deal is, so it's not "free" at all.

matrich1610

Thanks - found it via uSwitch in the end, but there's no date for switchover. As soon as they do then I'm in but can't go back to Vodafone as they're less reliable than two cups and a ball of string!

Sawb

How is it a valid opinion tho? i dont really understand. It sounds like this guy in an ideal world wants quidco to send him cash so he can post the exact same money to talktalk

Quidco are tracking £60 on TalktalkMobile so potential £15 cashback + free for 12 months - (Assume the cheapest £3.75 deal x 12months = £45 per year). My £0 Tmobile EE deal from last year just expired so planning to switch over to this deal.

Pateo

don't forget the tt SIM discounted prices are only for current tt customers who have a current broadband contract! I don't think you can get any SIM offers out of contract! to answer the other part of your question, try phoning tt asking if you can keep your existing number on your new tt SIM if not you would need to get a Pac code from tt so you can transfer your number over to another providers SIM on payg eg here https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/o2-payg-sim-card-ideal-for-o2-priority-offers-0-01p-delivered-amazon-sold-prepaymania-2044155?page=2#post23280657 then once you've put it in your unlocked handset/phone and once activated, after about a day phone other providers customer service to ask for Pac code from them which I did with o2 last year., retentions obviously want to keep your custom but after 5minutes they reluctantly give you a Pac code, btw I hadn't even topped up, hope that helps good luck ;)

tan159

I'm already have t t sim and out of contract. Anybody got any ideas on the quickest/easiest way 2 renew contract with same number on tt and get the cash back as well?

I've just renewed my contract and opted for the PLUS TV package, funny thing is... My TV Box arrived today, my TV package went live today, but no sign of my Powerline adapters or my new router, so we cannot set anything up to use the service. lol X) OH! and I spent over 2 hours on the phone with them just to renew my contract, it was painful to say the lease. They seem to not know what they are doing, you just get passed to another department again and again. Plus TT are over charging me 1 month in-advance regarding my current contract. oO I cant wait to see how this free £90 sim will work, bet I dont even get it. lol

Been with them for 5 years now. I have been charged an extra £50 on two different occasions when I was promised a free engineer service. Had to chase them up and got my money back the first time. I'm currently trying to get my £50 back from the engineer's recent visit. About the sims. I have 3 of them and the signals are terrible / it drops completely sometimes. I had a Dual Sim phone which is the only thing that kept me paying for TT sim as I could sim options if TT gave me Trouble. After a year, they charge you 7.50 for each sim. They also charge you £1.90 for paper billing.

My mum tried phoning them (existing customer) and they're saying the offer is only for six months x £3.75/month, double that afterwards. A 12 month contract. They implied the £3.75 for 12 months offer ran out on 30th September. Can anyone confirm they got this offer after that date? The TT representative is going to phone my mum back.

montana78

they've taken offers off now and replace them with 12 month contracts where only 1st 6 month are half price. :(

deleted30178

Consider that most contracts are charged as monthly pre-pay, whereas out-of-allowance charges are post-pay. The request for PAC generally simply starts a 30 day notice period. All assumes the contract has passed its minimum term, otherwise the equivalent of the contract term balance becomes due but typically at VAT-exclusive prices.

whw

I think the moment you port your number the contract will cease to be valid, therefore you won't owe a penny (not that you did in the first place).

Instead, they give me 1300 Mins - Any Network unlimited Texts - Any Network 2.6GB Data £3.75 Per Month for a 12-month contract or £5 Per Month for a 30-day contract As I don't need that many minutes, I asked if they can reduce it to lower down the tariff, or exchanging the minutes to more data; but they refused.

The tracking is all done with cookies. The only time I have not had a Quidco purchase track is when I was using my Firefox browser as it's Cookie-handling settings were different to my Internet Explorer settings. You may want to ring TT to cancel and then repurchase using a different PC or browser that handles cookies differently, before the offer ends. Make sure you have cookies enabled and are logged out of TalkTalk first. Close all windows and relaunch your browser going straight to Quidco. Log in to Quidco and click the deal button which should then automatically open up a new window to make the purchase from. Then hopefully the cookies will register and TT will see the referral as coming from Quidco. Also T+C state Quidco account MUST be set up for BACS transfer otherwise they will not pay out.

when I have found that it can depend on who you have spoken to. Firstly customer service are extremely restricted to what discounts they can offer. So you should always ensure that they put you through to the LOYALTY dept as they are the only ones with the power to give good deals. Even they have certain restrictions so if they can not do the right deal for you get them to run something by their supervisor as their supervisors can go further an authorise them to do better deals. If you still cant get a good deal then request an immediate MAC code, whether you need it or not. They do not like giving out mac codes (or even pac codes when we are talking mobiles), as it is a sign that they have definitely failed to get you on board and see it as a total rejection. That said, if you have a mac code (migration code), you do not have to use it and you can still ring them up to push for other deals, saying what can you offer me if I chose not to use this mac code? I was most surprised when I rang up and asked for my mac code. They gave me (an undisclosed promotion) free line rental for a year worth £150 plus unlimited broadband for £3.50 per month. The only requirement was that I was to subscribe to their all inclusive calls package for £5 /month making it £8.50 but I was told I could cancel the inclusive calls add on after one month which I have not done yet. So all I pay is £8.50 and no line rental. Line rental on its own would be about £15. If you cant get the right deal hang up and ring back so that you talk to someone else. Eventually you should get in touch with someone in LOYALTY dept that does make the effort to keep you as a customer. Let me know how you get on. Also for what it is worth - I live in a village which has a big restriction on what companies can offer me as the exchange is owned by BT and most suppliers including plusnet have to buy the service off BT to resell to me. The only exception is TalkTalk who have had their own equipment installed in BTs exchange. When I switched from Plusnet (BT equipment) to TalkTalk, my internet speed changed from 2.5 mbps to 10 mbps. Dont know if this would be the same else where but I sometimes now get 12 mbps.

deanos

i called to cancel yesterday , and all they offered was 1/2 price essentials for 6 months worth around £25 ! , not enough incentive to stay

Grigs

From what they have told me in the past, I believe so, but you can ring them to confirm it. When i rang them to cancel my landline, they gave me a years FREE line rental worth about £150, so I stayed. :)

deanos

anyone knows what happens if you leave talk talk, going to move to plusnet, i presume the mobile stays active at half price until 12 months are up ?
