I have purchased many phones from CPW in the past but not in the last year. If someone can confirm CPW policy, as they do not seem to know, as unlocking is about £9.
Must be unlocked to ee i couldn't choose other network
Only showing as available for 79p upgrade for EE PAYG users, but the check eligibility tool says it's not available before you even get chance to enter a mobile number.

So it's LOCKED, not UNLOCKED then?
My concern is that this phone could get slower once the next new model is out.
The Apple share value dipped since this post..great.

So the deal with CPW is that the phones are unlocked if you pay for a sim free. HOWEVER sneaky ***** have changed the policy lately (atleast a year now) you get it for the pay as you go price only when you select a network and top up a simcard. As soon as u put that sim into the phone it locks it to that simcard.. and from what the bloke at CPW said it even locks it to that simcard only.. meaning it wont work with even another sim on the same network..

Personally not sure if thats just the salesman pushing for a sim only sale...

Not true. I can confirm all phones sold are unlocked and will not lock to the first SIM network that are inserted. This also now includes all Apple phones bought at Carphone Warehouse since August 2017.

Nice one thanks for clarifying. Im not a techie and got dooped when the sales boy told me as at the end of the day theyre supposed to be trustworthy.. obviously not lol.. ended up paying more for the sim free handset.

Its good to know they wont lock
i got a pay as u go sim but I can't buy it for 79p
I bought this phone last week from carphone warehouse and had it delivered today. I can confirm that it is LOCKED. The mobile box does have an EE sticker seal on it and when I insert a sim card (other than EE) I get this message:

It could be the exception rather than the rule but just to let everyone know.

Just bought one

any idea how long the battery lasts?
the modern smartphone takes too much of my time, something like this would be ideal--- just for calls, text and some whatsapp now and then.
here too just placed the order over the phone as the EE online system to verify the eligibility is still not working. Will receive it tomorrow via DPD and all for 79 pence. What a cracking deal
£10 for unlocked version. if battery last 1 week on standby then i will go for it, can anyone confirm?

Oh, must be an exception, could be down to the model/pricing/being 3G only, I don't know, sorry. It's a new model that Carphone have just started stocking in the last month.
Any body know how long you have to be with EE for to upgrade?
After entering my ee number pin and full address details. It said something went wrong call the store. After all that
