its a cheap for 22" dvi monitor because it is made by digimate, i just realised these digimates might not be hdcp compliant.
Next cheapest 22" dvi i can find is Acer 22 dvi HDCP £110.16 scan.co.uk/Pro…DCP

DVI carries HD signals surely?

dvi can carry hd signals but it needs to be hdcp compliant to view hdcp content on films like blu ray,

"For DVI interfaces, HDCP is optional."
en.wikipedia.org/wik…ion

Good warning there Computerman - always surprising how many people don't realise the HDCP aspects, ie implicit in HDMI interface, but totally optional/extra on DVI interface.

I myself have a DVI HDCP ready display, but only a DVI non-HDCP video card - bought before I even thought about HD, but still stifling any HD playback from any disc.

At the time of the great HD-DVD stock-clearance drive sell-off I recall a utility that I ran on my PC to check the HDCP status of devices (ie graphics circuitry and digital display), but unfortunately can't recall it's name right now.

PS: While HDCP is as I earlier said "implicit" in HDMI devices, it apparently is NOT required by the specification, just would be VERY unusual for a display not to support it

looks lioke dabs changed the monitor they are no longer dgm, these are hanton monitors model number H-570WDB
If you get the digimate model scan says it is not hdcp compliant scan.co.uk/Pro…ers
just found an old topic of the hanton monitor hotukdeals.com/ite…300

If you don't have a HDCP display & wanna play HD DVD/BD discs - use a program called "AnyDVD HD".
Problem Solved.

good deal. you could always backup the whole bluray onto your computer hard drive and then play it from that. surely that would work :S?
