Monitor Audio A100 Network Amp £129 delivered @ Richer Sounds

Found 2nd May 2016
Been waiting for a deal on this amp for a while now to replace my large AV receiver.

Currently only £129 +free P&P (normally £199) at Richer Sounds. (Don't forget 2% in store cash back via Quidco). Next cheapest price I can find is £149.

RRP at £400 when released a few years ago still got great reviews so at nearly a 1/4 of this price it's good value for money

Amp will arrive Tuesday so will come back and let you know my thoughts!

But this isn't an AV receiver, it's a networked stereo audio amp with no hdmi inputs at all, according to the description.
Maybe they just use their amp for audio and want something just for that.

This is for music, you connect your passive speakers, CD player, record deck and receiver if you wish.
I've had one of these for a year or so and use it as a desktop amp to connect hi-fi speakers to my PC (hooked up via S/PDIF). It looks quite nice stood vertically, and doesn't take up too much desk space.

The only slight annoyance is that it takes 30 seconds or so to boot up after switching on, and the sound cuts in and out once or twice during this time (I think while it connects to wi-fi). However it's otherwise flawless and sounds great, so I would recommend it. Tested AirPlay once and it worked, but don't really have personal experience with that feature since I'm just using it as a basic amp.

Apologies, no hdmi inputs but does have optical input. My old AV receiver didn't have HDMI so haven't lost anything. As title says it's a networked amp.

I had read it can be slow to switch on, and you can have sound cutting out- but I read online this can be fixed by the firmware upgrades? Could be a different issue but thought it may help you!

I'm running the latest firmware, v639 (which isn't very new, they haven't released any new firmware for it since December 2014). It's not a big deal for me since I usually start it up while my PC is booting.

Thanks for that! Most of the time it will get used for audio for movies etc out of the TV and AirPlay music! Out of interest, what speakers you using with it?
With a pair of Monitor Audio BX2s that I already had. It's a great sounding combination, no plans to change it

Update: Must say i'm very impressed by both Richer Sounds and the product. It arrived next day delivery, even only opting for the standard 5 day.

Took about 15 minutes to get it unpacked, wired up to my MA BR2's and connected to the Wifi - it sounds great! Very good value for money at only £129!
